Outstanding authentic middle eastern food. The five stars is definitely for the food because this place is most certainly a hole in the wall –but a cute, clean one with excellent, polite service. There are a few stools in the window if you want to eat there — we did — but most people take out. We had the schawarma which comes with rice, pita bread and topped with a few vegetables — including jalapeños & pickled carrots, ‘Foul’ — delicious, garlicky fava beans, tea — with huge sprigs of fresh sage, and the thickest, sweetest coffee you’ve ever had. This came to $ 21.01 and we have enough food left over for another meal. Absolute fabulousness. Again proving our theory that some of the best food is served in places with little or no seating. PS– cash only

The one-story cinder block building is dingy and as inviting as the Joliet Prison. The meat was ok, but dry. The salad that came with the combination platter was so tasteless, I didn’t eat more than a bite. I agree with Spring, you’d be hard pressed objectively giving this place more than two stars. Also, don’t count on sitting down. There are maybe five feet from the edge of the serving counter to the window. There are four or five stools, but with anyone waiting in line, it is a very unpleasant place to eat. The guy working the counter was nice and pleasant, which makes writing this review all that much more difficult.

One of the worst Middle Eastern food had from this placed. We picked up food for party of 5 people and it is unanimous from every individual that the ratings(5 star by 50 people) provided on Unilocal is 100% fake. No way someone can be this much off for being a 5star rated.

Just as the name implies, it is the best shawerma. The chicken really hits the spot. My favorite, though, is the baba ghanoush. Smoky and delicious! The hummus is silky and smooth. The falafel is spiced just right! Everything is made fresh. Owners are so nice. Don’t hesitate to eat here! Some of the best!

Unilocal led me to this marvelous gem when the restaurant we were going to go to ended up being out of business. My son loves Mediterranean food. I love shish kabob and hummus, but everything else I can take or leave. Well, everything we had here was delicious! And everything is reasonably priced as well. They DONOT accept credit cards, so bring cash! Someone said in a review they should take credit cards and knocked off a star, but I think they’re keeping their overhead low, and passing the savings on to the customer, so it’s fine. There is an ATM machine, but they charge you in addition to any fees your bank may apply, so just bring cash. The staff is friendly and helpful. I can think of nothing bad to say about this place except it looks like a renovated bus shelter(lol), but like I said low overhead, and it’s very clean. Highly recommend!

Hands down BEST shawerma I have had in the states thus far. I travel back home(Jerusalem/Jordan) every year, and overseas is known for the original shawerma. To have a great constancy of providing the same Shawerma Sandwich every time I get a chance to go there, is awesome! there are other shawerma spots in the area, but it seems after they build their clientele they end up Half A**ing the recipe and loses taste/quality. But for these guys its always been the same, the name speaks for its self. The only CON I have to say about this place is, they DON’T accept credit cards!!! They recently added an ATM but who wants to be charged for using your own money. So if your going there remember to carry cash.

If you like Middle Eastern food, you will love this place. If you’ve never tried this cuisine, this is the place to try it. It’s a tiny unassuming hut looking restaurant with carry out only. The kitchen is open and a visit here feels like I’ve left the city and visited the middle east. The authenticity of the food is incredible. I’ve never been to the middle east but I have tried their food from other chain-like restaurant. The food here is fresh and flavorful. I’ve tried the chicken shawerma sandwich which was perfectly delicious. I returned two days later for the combination plate which includes beef, lamb and chicken cooked to perfection. I am in love with this little gem of a restaurant.

If you’re craving some good middle eastern food — stop here! This is my uncle’s tiny joint, but I’m still reviewing as a customer. I love shawerma and have tried it many places in the Chicagoland area, but here it tastes like it does overseas. I will be having a dinner this weekend, most of my food will be catered, and I’m ordering a combo platter from here. The owner is very clean, and is a genuinely nice guy. My dad has a grocery store where he does falafel and hummos in Oak Lawn. All the techniques used there were taught by this owner. Bottom line. the food is fresh and deliciousss… and it’s not expensive. Give it a try!

Cash only, we saw a lot of people do carry out, but also had a great experience dining in on their patio. The man who served us was so helpful and attentive, and I felt comfortable asking him all the questions I had about the menu. I had never heard of kalaya before and it was AMAZING. It was like a beef, pepper and onion stew, piping hot and great scooped up with the fresh pita. My boyfriend got the combination plate and we both drank fresh carrot juice. The meats were great, and came with garlic sauce and tahini so we could make it a little less dry. We started dipping everything in the kalaya. The two meals went great together. Loved that the combo plate came with salad so we could break up the hot and the meat with fresh cucumbers and tomatoes. The juice was also really refreshing. We packed our leftovers and headed for a movie. We had a few minutes to spare when we parked at the theater, and started eating again, haha. The leftovers were gone by the time I dropped my boyfriend back off at his place. Never even made it out of the car.

Found this place by mistake, and am glad I did, because it is the best shawerma I have had in a LONG time. Very fast service and no nonsense menu. I spent less than ten dollars and ate like a king. If you are craving something like this, be sure to try this place out.

This little place is a gem. I happened to stumble upon it on Unilocal after searching for a nearby place to fulfill my crave for falafel. It’s a very small restaurant but everything looks and smells amazing. I ordered the meat and chicken sandwich with a side of falafel. It is hands down the best Mediterranean Food I have had and it is very reasonably priced.

Great Arabic small joint, clean place, fresh tasty food. One or two person operation but all done with gloves. I loved it and be visiting more often. It’s not regular dine-in place. It takes a little time for them to prepare food, so If you in hurry order ahead. I had chicken showerna sandwich with extra meat

Wow. After TCB at the DMV, I was in dire need of some sustenance. The Best Shawerma has been on my list of places to try for awhile, and I finally was able to eat there. I ordered the beef shawerma sandwich on a pita and was really impressed with what I received. The beef had a delicious char on it and the amount provided was generous. I can’t remember the last time I had such a flavorful shawerma. Delicious — it was simple but prepared with care. Highly recommended.

If I had to use just one word to best describe my Beef/Lamb shawerma: delectable. This place has been a favorite of mine for quite some time, so much so that I even drive all the way from Orland Park to get my shawerma fix :). Every time I come in the owner greats me as if were old friends and never disappoints. I usually order 2 beef/lamb shawerma sandwiches which comes with a drink for each, I pay $ 11, now that’s a deal! All I gotta say is I’ll definitely be back!

Updated 2014-04-16: Well, The Best Shawerma is now a staple in my life. Luckily, I get to have it about every two weeks, sometimes even more often. I’m addicted to the hummos and the chicken shawerma, the falafel are excellent(with more herb/spice than most others I’ve tried) and the salads are fresh and flavorful. I’m also a big fan of the foul. I think I’ve tried about 75% of the menu, and enjoyed every item so far. It’s just sooooo hard to not get hummos and the chicken shawerma… I’ll add more detail later. I heard about The Best Shawerma from my GF’s mother(and driving by it). Excellent food says enough. It seems closer to authentic, though I’m not extremely knowledgeable about Middle Eastern cuisine. Other places seem a bit«Americanized». We had the combination plate that includes kifta, chicken and steak shawarma and chicken kabob, all on a bed of seasoned rice, with great tahini and slivered almonds. When I saw foul(pronounced more like full) on the menu, we had to try that and it was outstanding. I’m planning to stop on the way this evening to pick up dinner for us, and am excited to try something different.
