I love the Danish Bakery but I love even more the adorable lady at the counter, this grandmotherly Danish lady with an accent. Oh my Gosh. I first went there 4 or 5 years ago and was immediately charmed by her and the cookies. The cookies tasted just like those that my aging in-laws make. On my most recent trip this past Saturday, I had a half sheet of a Kringel, an Apple Strudel, a Hot Cross Bun and a Cream-filled Spandauer. One of them was free. Danish Grandma just put it in our bag from the day old basket. The total was less than $ 5.00. She did all the math by hand. It was so cute. I ate half of all of that in the car right outside the bakery. There’s a couple Danish specialties they don’t have like Ammonia Cookies and ableskivers. My dream is that they’d have a hot pan ready all weekend. I can’t wait for the weekend again. My only advice is to go before 5pm, in case grandma has gone to bed early. They have a useful website:

This place has the best cookies ever I even took Mother here to buy some! They also sell fresh pizza dough, all you need to do is be inventive and put on the toppings

Ummm. WHAT? How have I lived in Burien for three years and never been to this place before? I went there yesterday on a whim since I was in the area already. Picked up a Buttercup and some Florentiners. HOLYSUGAROVERLOAD. I’m about to go into a sugar coma from just one of the Florentiners, but you know what? It was ALL worth it. This place is awesome(except for the fact that they don’t take plastic).

I am now addicted to Lemon bars. We tried 3 different pastries here last Saturday and all were delicious! I will be heading to Burien often for these sweet treats

What you should know: — Cash only — Odd hours(when we first moved to Burien, we thought this place was always closed!!) — They sell decent day-old bread, rolls, and pastries — The«kringle» is yummy, as is the«cinnamon snail» — though the latter is quite sweet and best accompanied by a black coffee… though not necessarily purchased here. Try one of Burien’s other coffee shops(Burien Press being the best around, without a doubt).

The baked goods are good. But they don’t take plastic, so I’m often out of luck if I don’t have cash. They also close early-ish(which makes sense for bakeries, since bread stuff doesn’t stay fresh for long).
