A really wonderful shop featuring the most interesting garden paraphernalia! Its rustic yet trendy. IT timeless, yet current/Almost everything from local artists, they have a great selection of odd and eerie garden art. Concrete babies’ heads(yeah, I know, but you got to see them.) Crows and pigs and matronly muskrats. Also, the person in charge of the store day had a great passion for the merchandise and a story for eeirie piece. BRAVO! That’s the way a shop should be run! They also have a selection of interesting plants in their mini nursery. GREATSHOP!

Green Thumb Impaired. I am not bragging here but I have the ability to kill a cactus. But a home just doesn’t feel balanced without some foliage so I stopped in to this small but homey shop in olde Burien. I was greeted by a woman who was unpacking some plants and seemed to really glow about the whole thing. She wanted to help me but how do you say«I need that kinda of plant that needs almost no water, partial sun and that is easily replaced.» and not offend a real gardener. So I asked her for any suggestions on «low maintenance» plants. She smiled and was so helpful. Seriously this woman makes it all so much less intimidating and not only does she know the Latin name and indigenous region of all of her plants she makes it all sooooo much less intimidating. She is like a match making service for people and plants. I am happy to report that the ones I bought are still living… most of them. But should I ever expand my newly found green thumb I am going back here.

Rant: Home Depot and Lowe’s gardening centers piss me off. Rarely do they have exactly what you want(passion flowers or kiwi trees), good luck finding someone to help you, even better luck in finding someone who knows how to answer your questions. Rave: You will find the exact opposite at this home grown Burien shop. You will want to start your own urban garden, grow a fruit tree, plan a spot for climbing vines and heaven forbid, you might actually start doing your own composting. The owner is here almost every day and is educated and trained in making your personal Eden a reality. Things to covet: the steel grate designs, the assortment of fruit trees and climbing vines, the quality compost materials, the exotic and hard to find leafy plants, the veggie and herb selection, the scent diffusers(all oil and no alcohol means one long lasting product), a trip down the back steps(yes– it is magical), and chit-chatting up the owner. Make your neighbors envious of your garden too!
