I frequent as many Peruvian Chicken places as I can so I was happy to try one I’d never seen. First off, I was impressed that they offered more than just chicken and actually have some Peruvian entrees. This review however is for the chicken and the location. The restaurant it’s self is quite dated and scratched up. Paint pealing off the wall, boxes stacked in the rear, ceiling panels hanging out from their brackets, etc. It’s run down. I ordered a quarter chicken white meat. They gave me dark meat. I order black beans and white rice mixed and yuca as the sides. The yuca was way overcooked and brown, the chicken and really dry and their sauce was watered down. I’ve never been to a Peruvian Chicken place and thrown my food away without finishing it. Well, I guess there is a frost time for everything.

When I first went to chicken palace in 2014 it was good. Just last week I went and it was not the same. The chicken had no flavor, dry, came in tiny pieces(though they give you two), and the sauces were only half filled so two wasn’t enough. I tried the chicha morada and that didn’t even taste right that I had to switch it for another drink. The only good thing I got that day was the fries and customer service from the cashier. Unfortunately would not go there again and if you are looking for a tasty peruvian chicken place I strongly wouldn’t recommend going here.

The chicken was alright(a little dry) and the portions are lacking compared to other similar places. I got a ¼ chicken combo with rice and beans(that seemed to have come out of a can) and 2 yellow and 2 green sauces(not a fan of the green so I exchanged them for the yellow) the cups were filled half way which was pretty lame. Personally, I prefer King Pollo over this place but chicken palace is closer. This place is just alright not super great not particularly bad and the setting is nice. Most peruvian chicken places look a little gross and sketchy. The only thing I thought was really bad, was the pupusas. But that’s not surprising, considering its a Salvadorian dish.

2 stars. they have been open for some while now and they still don’t have there stuff together. there are always new workers there too who never seem to know how anything works or what it is. there sides aren’t ever fresh, the rice is always hard w no flavor and all dirty from using the same spoon w 3 other sides. it’s called a separate spoon! the chicken lacks some flavor, not the worst but you minds well buy the rotisserie chicken from Safeway. the place is dirty and never has anything out that u need(ketchup, mayo) the chicken is left being warmed in a glass thingy instead of being taken off the skewers. I think they keep those chickens in there from morning till they close if they don’t sell because one time I got one and it smelt terrible in my car. they really need to get It together or there out.

This place is not worth going to. Every time I go there it keeps getting worse. The chicken is ovecooked and yucca are hard as a rock. I recommend going to Annandale or Springfield for some authentic Peruvian chicken. It’s is worth the extra drive for more quality food. The staffs are so super rude it ain’t that hard to smile.

I really used to like this place and I would get food from them 1 or 2 times a week… then things started going down hill… and it keeps getting worse and worse. The food quality is very inconsistent, sometimes it is okay and sometimes it is terrible. Two other pet peeves: 1. They only give you a very few green and white sauces and then they want to charge you extra for additional sauces. 2. They charge extra for white meat, even though this isn’t mentioned on the menu. I won’t be back… May 2016 update… okay, so I knew I shouldn’t have, but I decided to give these guys one more try since I was close by and it was lunch time and I was hungry for some chicken… My wife and I each ordered a quarter white with two sides and a fountain drink, which came to ~$ 21. I paid with my check card and was getting ready to sit down and wait for my food, when I noticed a sign which said«lunch special, quarter chicken, two sides and a fountain drink for $ 7.25»…hmmm, isn’t that what I just ordered? Shouldn’t my bill have been around $ 16 with tax? I brought this to the attention of the employee at the cash register and they said«well you didn’t ask for the special». So I said«can you please refund me the difference?». Their response was«I’m new here and I don’t know how to do that» Me: «can you see if someone else who is working knows how?» employee: «they don’t speak English» me: «can you go and check with them to see if they know how» employee: «ok» employee: «I checked and they don’t know how» ARGGGGGG This time I am going to stick with my earlier commitment to myself and never, never, never return to this horribly managed place.

I used to go here every Monday since that was my telework day. I noticed that most times when I went there, the chicken was pulled from a warming oven, unlike the massive coal burners that most Peruvian Chicken joints have. As others have stated, the chicken is a bit dry and the seasoning seems a bit off compared to other places(not to mention a bit cold since it just sits there until you order it). My biggest issue was that I got food poisoning in October 2014. I have a pretty strong stomach and I was out for almost 5 days. Have not been back since. The one plus was that whenever I ordered fries, they made it for me on the spot.

I’ve been frequenting over the last year. The are fairly new(about 2 years I think). I feel like they’ve taken a slow downhill curve over time. The food is ok, but I’ve had much better. Also, I kind of get annoyed with their delivery. It’s inconsistent. Still, I still frequent every once in a while if I want some Peruvian roasted chicken and only want to drive down the street.

I have been to Chicken palace 3 times now in last few months. I really wanted to love it since it is in walking distance to my house; but unfortunately it misses the mark on more than one level. Today I needed a quick lunch option(I am teleworking) so I ordered the half chicken with yuca. The chicken was dry and the yuca was pretty bad. It is either under cooked or over cooked. Also, they use a lot of salt on their yuca. Each time I have visited this establishment, I have had dry chicken. They are pretty stingy with their side sauces too. They serve it in very tiny containers. When I asked for extra sauce the guy looked annoyed and said he would only give me one more. Really? How much is that sauce costing them? The last thing I will comment on is the staff. They are not very friendly or welcoming. There are way better options not that far from here. Village Chicken and even Delia’s in Springfield does a great job with their Peruvian chicken. I wish i checked out the review on here before. Clearly, I am not the only one not pleased and had dry chicken.

Chicken is extremely dry. Sides such as plantain and yucca, are very tasty. I only come back here for the sides.

OK so we gave this place a try when they opened and were not impressed… now full disclosure I am married to a Peruvian, so I know what Peruvian Rotisserie should taste like. So we went back last night. I have to say things haven’t changed. Ordered a whole chicken with two sides. Chicken was dry. The sides were skimpy. Anyone who orders from any other chicken place knows… if you order a whole chicken they always… always give you 2 salads + your side. Here you get a foam cup filled with lettuce, no dressing, not a salad in my book. The yucca was fresh but small. The wings on the chicken were shriveled to nothing because they left the bird on the fire too long. Save your money and go to one of the hundreds of true Peruvian style chicken places around the DC area. You will be happier.

Food is unbelievable. Not sure what they do to their chicken but it’s up there with the best I’ve ever had. Very authentic and delicious. I drive all the way from Old Town, Alexandria for this pollo! The service is outstanding as well. Just a well managed establishment with a genuine Peruvian mom and pop atmosphere… and to top it off, the fries and yuca are made to order! Boom! I will most definitely be back very soon.

Visited last week. Chicken was dry. Ordered a whole chicken and two sides. The side dish portions were extremely small given I ordered a WHOLE chicken. It’s not proportionate at all. Seriously one person could have finished the side dishes. Don’t be so stingy with your side dish portions !! The beans were tasteless. The carne empanadas were not very good. Both the dough and the meat were on the sweet side and COLD even though it was supposed to be under a heat lamp. 4 empanadas for $ 15? Whoa. Way too expensive. Unfortunately, I used to be a regular here but my last 3 visits were very disappointing. Never going back again.

Ewwww… Do not step into this place. The chicken is so dry and you can tell that it is old. All the sides are old too. Their yucas were dry and were sitting out all day. Just bad– don’t waste your money here.

The food was already prepared which was probably why the food was not as fresh. The chicken was really good, moist and flavorful. however, the sides(yucca, rice and beans) were not so good. yucca was dry and soggy. rice and beans had no taste and the rice was sticky. the green sauce provided was

Maybe I got spoiled by all the excellent pollo a la brasa restaurants in Arlington, but this was pretty disappointing. On the positive side, the prices are very reasonable and the portion sizes are pretty big. Unfortunately, the chicken itself was dry and rubbery, and not very flavorful. Fries were a bit soggy and undercooked as well. Has potential, but right now I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Came in about 30 minutes before closing the other night and ordered a ½ chicken and two sides: french fries and salad(not a big fan of yuca). The chicken was tasty albeit a bit dry; I expected that though as it was near closing and there was only the one chicken under the heat lamp for who knows how long. The sauces were perfect. The next day, I ate the second portion of chicken and it actually seemed more moist, possibly because of the sauces. For $ 9 and enough chicken for two meals, I can’t complain.

Large portions, but the food is not great. They gave me tons of yucca, but it was pretty dry. The chicken was well seasoned, though luke warm. The lettuce in my side salad was pretty old and wilted as well. If the food was fresh, it would be much better.

I just had Chicken Palace tonight on the recommendation of a friend. I thought the chicken was excellent — moist and flavorful chicken meat and grilled crispy skin that you could taste the spices and charcoal. The chicken is wonderful and worthy of four stars. I had the yuca and fried rice as sides. The yuca was good, but not excellent — too dry for my taste. The chicken fried rice was way off the mark with very dry chicken pieces, peas, and rice that tasted stale. Go for the chicken and skip the sides.

My second visit to Chicken Palace was easily 4 stars! The chicken was tasty as well as the chicharron(fried pork). Check out process was a breeze using my coupon. Be sure to print out the coupon rather than try and use the online app to present an online coupon. There is apparently no AT&T 4g or LTE coverage inside the restaurant by the cashier. Thus, using the app to display the coupon was a bit challenging.
