AA+ Smog

Let’s face it, you can get a quick and efficient smog check pretty much anywhere. And pretty much every smog check station charges the same price. So why then do I recommend AA+?
Because (as their name implies) they give you AA+ friendly service.
This was my second visit here, and both times Mohammed was my technician. Super nice, and beyond helpful. He makes you feel like family as he greets every customer like he’s a long lost relative.

I’ve had a couple smog tests done here. Super efficient process and would highly recommend it to anyone in the market of getting a smog test done.

I COULD NOT HAVE ASKED FOR A BETTER EXPERIENCE! This was extremely quick, efficient & painless. I had been putting off having my car smogged for 2 weeks, because I didn’t have time. I went at about 1:30 pm on a Friday and literally spent 15 minutes from start to finish! They scanned my DMV registration right in once my car passed, I paid the standard fee and was back on my way! The staff was extremely friendly and explained how the process all works in easy terms & there were no surprises, add on fees or extras! SUPER pleased with my experience and would HIGHLY recommend!

I went to another smog station who could not find a «charcoal canister» under my Mazda CX9 and therefore would not pass my car. I found Mohammad at AA+ Smog who immediately knew where to look; and I was back on the road in 15 minutes with a Pass certificate.
Mohammad is very knowledgeable and friendly. Don’t bother going anywhere else to save a few dollars. it’s not worth it.

Easiest smog check ever. Easy to find, not so easy to get in and out of during commute times (not the business’ fault) I was in and out in less than 15 minutes.

so I recently brought 3 cars to him a lexus a jetta and a 4×4 truck, I help out some elderly people in my neighborhood
he would not honor his coupon each time and not only that he wanted to charge more than his regular price all three vehicles
for the lexus he told me because it costed more because he had to inspect the ignition timing… this needs to be checked on all cars I told him this is noting special and he told me no my car is special which it is not
for the jetta he told me it was more because it was a manual transmission and it makes doing the test harder because he needs to shift from 2^nd to 3^rd gear, this is also a poor excuse, I have been getting cars with manual transmissions smogged since the late 80s and was never charged more for a manual transmission
for the 4×4 truck not only did he not honor the coupon he wanted to charge more and he did as he said the vehicle was heavy and puts wear and tear on his machine. I told him a 4×4 can not go on his dyno anyway as it is tested in park.
he ripped me off 3 times, its not the money that bothers me it is his lies and how bold he is to try to make extra money

Best deals around town with coupon. Street parking is limited. Service is fast, easy and nice

Quick, easy and painless.
A smog check on my boyfriends Chevy s10 took about 10 minutes and cost about $ 45 out the door. Both gentlemen I dealt with were very nice, helpful and a pleasure to deal with. I would recommend this business to anyone looking for a smog check!

There was no wait in the Saturday morning, pretty fast (10 – 15 mins in total) The owner is cool and nice! My experience is not bad at all. Will come back again for the smog check in the further.

Muhammad is a very calm and nice person, politely answered my questions and did my Smoke check pretty quickly. I appreciate being able to handle smoke check so quickly and go to work afterwards with no delays.

Like I told the owner after I left his shop this morning… I will NEVER bring back any of my vehicles here EVER again!
I found a $ 29.75 smog coupon for his shop in my local Pennysaver mailer. I called him last week to ask him what my out the door price would be for my year, make, and model. He told me «$ 29.75 + $ 5 extra for being a light duty truck + $ 8.25 DMV certificate/​transfer fee= $ 43 out the door.»
I show up this morning at 8:15am and his shop is still closed. The hours listed on his door clearly state that he opens at «8am.» Red Flag# 1– He doesn’t show up until 8:25am and says, «I open at different times each day depending on when the sun comes out and when it gets lighter out.» Red Flag# 2– I provide him with my DMV paperwork and the coupon I clipped out from the Pennysaver. He immediately says, «$ 10 more for your vehicle.» I quickly remind him of the pricing that he quoted me last week, reminding him that he stated «$ 5 more.» He then says, «Is your truck automatic or manual, if it’s manual than that’s why it should be $ 10 more.» He agrees to charge the extra $ 5 and not $ 10, but it took insistence on my part to make that happen. The fact that he can’t be consistently honest with his pricing, should have made me walk away! The truth of the matter is this, If he can see an opportunity to up-​charge, HE WILL!
Red Flag# 3– While he’s performing my Smog test, a friend of mine texts me a coupon for a shop also in Burlingame that is offering smog testing for $ 26.70 + $ 8.25 certificate/​transfer fee for 1996 and newer vehicles. Once he is done with my test, I show him the coupon, and I ask him if he will price match. He says, «No I don’t do price matches here! That’s for 2000 and newer cars only [which isn’t true… all he had to do was read the coupon]…my rent here is probably more than that guy’s rent.»
Red Flag# 4– He rings me up for $ 29.75 + $ 5 + $ 8.25…BUT ADDS $ 2 electronic transfer fee!!! All the other smog shops I’ve gone to in the past charge $ 8.25 for the certificate and electronic transfer fees combined! So again, seeing the chance to up-​charge, he nickel and dime’s me for another $ 2! Total out the door cost ends up being $ 45!
Don’t wast your time! Seriously, I’ve warned you. Go to PRO-​SMOGS in Burlingame instead! They offer a coupon online on their website for $ 26.70 + $ 8.25 and that’s it! No up-​charges, no hidden fees, no AA Smog tactical inconsistent pricing! I called PRO-​SMOGS and the owner there confirmed that my out the door price for my vehicle would have been $ 34.95! That’s a $ 10 savings ($ 10.05 savings to be exact)!!
DO NOT GO TO AA SMOG.

Just noticed a 2 year old message from the owner «Mohammed N» in my Unilocal inbox. Would’ve ignored it, except it was so professionally written, I had to share.
Here’s his word for word text, that I’ve censored for the kids:
«I thought you’d shut up you f*****g little worm, f*****g cheap basard. my d**k which is about the same size as you is free, there’s charge for everything else especially for a**holes like you. don’t ever come over here againg supid f**k» (sic)
This was his unsolicited message to me, after I wrote my first review. Imagine having to deal with this kind of behavior in person, while he has your car as ransom.

I felt Mohammed was very truthful in buying our car. I found him to be candid, pleasant easy to work with.

Dishonest business that will size you up and try to shake you down. Don’t take your car here if it looks even remotely nice, fancy or expensive
Sliding scale pricing to gouge maximum dollars. Coupons from their own web site not honored. Would not recommend.

My smog check had been delayed by months, just didn’t get around to it, but had paid the fee. Was planning a meeting in Burlingame and decided to get this done, check Unilocal for smog test near my meeting. Read about AA+ and called to ask if he could do a Porsche Boxster, not all test locations can. He said yes, just stop by.
Did so, filled out the paperwork, he proceeded with test, completed the visual inspections and said, it passed. I asked him to explain the read out which he did patiently, with explanation that at some point repairs may be required as one reading was right on the line.
Very pleased with his efficiency and explanations.

I never post reviews but felt compelled to do so on this issue. My family just had a horrible experience with AA Smog on California Drive, near the main fire station. Having stopped in the temporary parking spot, we were picking up our kid from a class. The owner came out and called my wife an expletive IN FRONT of our children, no hello, query, or discussion. I have heard this guy has done this kind of thing before. He then proceeded to call me a racial slur, all because we parked in front of his business, with the back tire approximately 8 inches beyond the green curb.
Of course we all can choose what businesses to support, but I ask you all to consider not using this business.

Thanks to my coworker, I checked out AA+ smog. Its right down the street from my work. They were very quick, had an online coupon, and took great care of my car. The inside waiting room was a little crowded so I sat on the curb outside to enjoy the weather and my lunch while I waited. They did a fantastic job. I will definitely be back!

Thanks, Unilocalers! AA+ Smog was everything you said it was: Fast, affordable and close to home! What more can you ask for? Nothing, beyond the fact that the State of California really shouldn’t require smog checks for cars that are less than 10 years old. Hey, it’s the price we pay to live here and drive.
Printed out the online coupon that so many of you kindly mentioned in your writings and they gladly accepted it. Total cost with tax was about $ 40 or so. The gentleman behind the counter asked where I found him and he said Unilocal has been good to his business, so even better! Am always a little nervous that a biz owner idn’t say something like «F*** Unilocal!They’ve ruined me!» Chances are if you’re willing to curse in front of a new paying customer, it’s not Unilocal that’s bringing you down. But that’s a different story…
Was in and out within 20 minutes or so and off to the AAA office to take care of my 2013 registration. What a breeze!
