Love this place when I feel like having a sandwich for lunch this is the place to go. The garlic spread is what gives it a kick. They make their sandwiches awesome.

I saw this place on Unilocal and really wanted to try it so I can order the «chicken lickin’» and say that phrase out loud. I got the chicken lickin’ on Dutch crunch. It’s pretty good, and the Dutch crunch cuts the roof of my mouth like it should. Overall, ⁴⁄₅ for the sandwich, ¹⁰⁄₁₀ for the name. Will return next time and make my husband order, so he can experience the full effect as well.

Phenomenal sandwich: Simply Pepper on sour dough. Also just to sit in here and eat is enjoyable. The atmosphere and staff are a cut up. Very lively and fun. A must stop in the Bay Area.

Just great sandwiches-​plain and simple. Almost too many options, so I got a salami on sliced sourdough-​delicious.

This is an update to my last review. I was contacted by the owner, she was very apologetic and offered to remake our last order. I’m glad to see they care, that’s what’s important. And the sandwiches are good when they’re made correctly (to order). I’d much rather spend my money with a family owned business than a chain. Anyday.

Best sandwich I’ve had in a long time ⁵⁄₅ but would it hurt the guy behind the counter to crack a smile every now and again.

The sandwiches are ok. Meats and other ingredients don’t seem to be fresh. If you don’t eat your sandwich immediately the bread will be soggy and wet from tomato juice, wet lettuce and other specialty sauces.
The staff isn’t the friendliest so don’t expect more than an «Welcome to CJ’s» or «You must order by the number!» Overall I won’t be going back.

Okay, let me lay this down for you.
To be honest, I went in there because I felt like the Which Wich up the street was too expensive for what you get, so I figured I would give this place a try.
I walked in and I kind of felt like they were annoyed I was in there, plus the whole ordering process confused me greatly. When I saw everything was just as expensive, I was disheartened, but it was way too late to try and back out of there.
So I stumble through ordering, and they were kind of like «What is wrong with this girl?» not in a mean way, just in a way where they expected more from me than my utter confusion at ordering sandwiches. Plus they only had one brand of chips so I was like, «Ugh this is unfortunate.»
Anyway, I make it out of there with a sandwich, chips for me and the kiddos, and a Snapple. $ 16. Pretty much exactly the same as down the street. I get to the car and am huffing about how expensive food is and wondering if it would be easier to starve to death, and start driving home.
I have zero capacity to wait, so I fumble to rip the paper off the end of this sandwich and take a bite at a stoplight, and good lord almighty, it is the best thing I have ever had in my mouth. This sucker was wrapped up tight, so I’m paying attention to the wheel while I’m trying to get at more of this thing, ripping apart the paper like a one-​handed bear. Eventually I get home, and I have covered myself, the dash, the wheel, and the other seat in sandwich stuff, but I straight up do not care, because it was delicious and amazing.
I had the other half of this crushed sandwich still in the wrapper, and I kind of wanted to share it with the people at home so they could recognize its glory, but instead I shoved the rest in my face and just told them about the really, really good sandwich I had.

Pretty good, just the right amount of meat, and the ingredients are fresh! I will definitely be returning for another sandwich soon:)

I visited CJs for the first time at approximately 12:30PM on a Thursday. I received immediate attention, and it appeared that everyone else in line received immediate attention as well. The sandwich was phenomenal.
The reviews here seem very polarized… my one experience was with expected customer service and an amazing sandwich.

I love CJ’s sandwiches. I’ll be honest that I haven’t tried anything but CJ’s Own Roasted Turkey. It’s essential to order this sandwich with all spreads! The garlic sauce with the pesto and the mustard… So GOOD!
Note that 5 stars is for the sandwiches themselves. To me, these people have been at least friendly for the most part… just don’t come here and expect smiles and the guys behind the counter to say «Hello Welcome To CJ’s» when you walk in the door.

Come hungry! We ordered our own sandwiches and couldn’t finish them. No.21 is a must if you are not sure which to go with. They have a great selection to choose from. For the locals — lucky. You always have a good sandwich place around.

I am a big sandwich fan! I’ve tried every place in the Bay Area and I must say there isn’t a better place than cjs gourmet deli. I been coming here for years since my elementary school days.(wow) The taste it’s amazing, 31 is the best one! Huge 5 stars on just food. The service is phenomenal, everyone always has an amazing positive attitude. The timing is always perfect unless it’s a bit busy but even then it’s faster than subway. The place is impeccable! It’s a must go so worth my money!:)

Open 7 days a week! The best deli in the bay area! Get the chicken licken, you will not be disappointed!

My wile and I were in early on Friday morning around eleven. We had the number 30 (avocado and bacon w/​the house fixings) on dutch crunch. Hands down the best dutch crunch I have had in years. The garlic spread was top notch and the bacon and avocados were flawless. Thanks, you inspired me.

Walked in at 130 on a Friday. There were 2 guys working, 2 customers waiting for sandwiches. I stood at the register ready to order and not a word, wouldn’t even look at me. I stood there some more, not a word, then I got a quick glance and still nothing. Not a hi, be a minute, sorry I hate my life… nothing.
Far too many good happy places to eat within 50′.
Walked to Which Wich, greated with a smile. Manager walked out and said hi. Sandwich made in 5 minutes with 10 people waiting. Figure it out CJs.

Strolling down the ave w/​my two girlfriends and decided to eat at CJ’s since we were craving sandwiches. I was impressed by the menu and the wide variety of different sandwiches you can choose from, but putting my order in was a different story.
I told the cashier (woman in her late 40’s) I wanted the Greece sandwich, but seeing they have a simple garlic chicken sandwich I asked if I could change it. I guess it was SUCH a big hassle, they didn’t even start to make the sandwich I thought I wanted so what is there to complain about & to see that the staff was grunting and mumbling words under their breath because they’re so «bothered» by a customer’s request is very unprofessional, it’s not like I put in a complicated order. The cashier wasn’t too pleased about my sandwich decision making either, smirking at me while ringing me up for my order.
The sandwich was filling, but there was nothing special about it. The chicken was kinda dry and I barely tasted any garlic on my sandwich too.
Next time I’m hitting up Mr. Pickles on El Camino, they never disappoint.

My boyfriend swears by this place… and I can definitely see why.
Quality. Everything about these sandwiches taste amazing. The bread and the produce taste fresh, and they make them so quickly. I’ve only had a couple of their sandwiches but there’s no doubt that I will be back again to try something new. Not to mention, their menu is pretty huge. There’s definitely a sandwich (or a salad) for everyone. The variety is through the roof, prices are reasonable, and the quality of the ingredients taste impeccable.
Definitely a new go-​to sandwich shop. Take that, Subway.

2 — Why did it take me so long to swing by?
Moving out of the area in a few days I have made it my mission to clear some of the places I have bookmarked locally and CJ’s was among the top 5 places. I came for Lunch on Thursday which now has me so mad at myself that it took so long to come here. It’s just torture knowing that the Sandwiches are so good but I’m moving so far away. Torture, I tell you! :(
I kept my order simple with a Turkey on Dutch Crunch with everything (
) and oh sweet heavens! One of the best Sandwiches I have eaten and it was big too. The plus side of a large Sandwich was that I had half for Lunch and the rest with Salad for Dinner. The fillings were plentiful with a mountain of sliced Turkey and fresh Pickles, Onions ect. The Pesto /​Garlic Sauce combination was an absolute winner. 2 of my favorite sauces combined? Hell yeah! The Bread was also the crunchiest Dutch Crunch I have ever had meaning that you can order with no fear that you will end up with a soggy mess. (

Not only did I get a delicious and hearty Lunch /​Dinner but the lady serving was so incredibly nice. While I was waiting for my order the lady asked if it was my first time there to which I explained the deal with me moving and that I had to eat there at least once before I move and she seemed so pleased at my decision and immediately offered me any Cheese, Bacon or Guacamole on my order too. Take in mind I had already paid I found the gesture and overall customer service outstanding. They clearly like to make their customers happy.
They also have a small selection of Cookies along with Chips and Drinks to add to your order and both inside and outside seating available.
So go, get yourself one of the best Sandwiches you will ever have… NOW! You won’t be sorry.
