Delicious quiche and very friendly service. I visited McConnell Café for breakfast before a business meeting in Burlington. Wow. Talk about bursting with flavor. I ordered the quiche based on my server’s recommendation — lucky me! On my first bite, I immediately notice savory bacon, which was accentuated by the peppers and onion. Then, that delicious Swiss cheese followed by light and fluffy egg. Oh yes. So good! Each bite thereafter was equally amazing. What a great way to start my day. As you can see in the picture I posted, McConnell Café has two quiche options. The second option is vegetarian friendly as it substitutes broccoli and mushroom for my beloved bacon. If you’re ever in Burlington around the breakfast hour, you need to make a point of trying McConnell Café’s quiche!

Love, love, love this place! I have ordered several items from the menu, and have never been disappointed. The ladies are very sweet and accommodating. The décor is oh so lovely. I could eat at McConnell’s everyday! It would be perfect if they improved their ice coffee… A dash more flavoring would definitely help!

I’m from Texas and was looking for a nice café. I found this place and ordered the loaded biscuits and gravy. It was amazing!!! It reminded me of home and was definitely loaded with bacon, egg, cheese & sausage! Yum!!!

I stopped in Burlington the other morning driving back to Illinois, and luckily this place came up towards the top of my Unilocal search for breakfast. It’s a great little spot with cool architecture and history that serves really good food by a pleasant staff. I couldn’t have asked for better service. I had the quiche of the day which was delicious and really filling. A couple more breakfast options would have been nice, but that’s a minor suggestion for what was overall a great stop on a long road trip.

I was in Burlington for a wedding. We found this small and cute little café I a whim. I got the Quiche: bacon, spinach red & green peppers with mushrooms with fresh fruit. This dish was DELICIOUS. Friendly service. I would come here again!

Great food. Portions a bit small. I had caramel French toast, delicious, but only two small pieces. Very nice people.

Had breakfast/lunch here for the first time on Valentine’s Day. Wanted to spread our Saturday morning breakfast/brunch patronage amongst the boutique Burlington restaurants. The ambience was historic yet trendy. Enjoyed the art work on the walls(local artists, items for sale). Food arrived swiftly and my veggie quiche was very good. I greatly appreciated that it was served with fruit. Only reason I am giving 3 stars is due to the quality of service. The service we had was sadly lacking a welcoming touch, the older server was borderline crabby, and the restaurant was not even full at the time we dined. As more people arrived, she remained highly efficient but without that special touch that can make a world of difference in any customer service experience. The place has great potential, menu needs to be expanded like another reviewer said, maybe add skillet choices, freshly squeezed OJ on Saturday mornings, the hazelnut coffee was excellent, location is just around from Diggers Rest in the heart of downtown Burlington, but an upbeat, smiling, engaged server is what was lacking for our group of 5 this morning. Prices, not bad, $ 7.50 for a smallish slice of quiche & cup of fruit, others had yogurt parfait, good, French toast, good, Bagel with egg & bacon, a little greasy. Will go there again a few times to give the place a fair chance. Am hopeful I can update my review to at least 4 stars.

Stopped by for early lunch. Had egg salad sandwich. Good, but could have used more mustard. Wife had bbq pork-very tasty. Waitress was very good as well and a cool place, too. Great pics on wall.

Mom and I were on a leisurely drive following the river down to St. Louis when we stopped for lunch here — love the building with the exposed brick — architectural features were very nice. We had the carrot soup and a wrap — both were good — and full of healthy ingredients. the folks were very friendly too!

Sandwiches and soup were very good. Had a Bacon lettuce tomato which was just placed on an Italian roll for a subtle difference(not so good — very plain). Menu was a bit limited. Service was very swift and efficient.

Super cute café in downtown Burlington! I had the egg casserole with ham, cheese, and scallions. Very tasty. The salads, soups, and sandwiches all looked great too! I will definitely be returning.
