Let me first say that the place is a hole in the wall and it is very old fashion. He doesn’t take check or credit card(only cash) and Rigo knows his suits. I brought a suit that needed to be hemmed. Rigo asked me to try it on and, frankly, it was too tight on me. I work out a lot and he shook his head, made me take it off and then he proceeded to measure me very thoroughly — chest was measured, point to point was measured, shoulders, thighs and all that. He then worked with me to send my suit back, find the right size so he could work on it(I went a size up) and get a good price. Once I had my suit, I brought it back to Rigo. He made me try it on and it was too big(part of the plan). He remembered my measurements right off the top of his head and then he very thoroughly went through the motions of marking my suit and determining his plan of attack. So, I came back today after a few weeks of him working on it and tried it on. Fit like a glove. I am beyond happy. Everything fit perfectly. One thing I appreciated about Rigo is that he showed me where he did some of his work — specifically, the stitching. There is a reason why this guy is the best in town. He does great work and I am beyond satisfied. I’m going to bring another suit to him which is way too big when I get the chance. In terms of price, the suit was great quality and I got it for a steal. Rigo was very impressed with the quality of the suit and floored when he found out how little I paid for it. I paid $ 200 for the suit(Combatent Gentlemen) and paid $ 162 for tailoring. The suit, Rigo estimated, was probably about a $ 1,200 suit due to the materials and stitching. I saved a lot of money and I know this is going to last me a long time after looking at his stitching. Another reviewer gave another great observation about Rigo — he’s paternalistic. He told me exactly how to take care of it – careful with the dry cleaning and watch the ironing so it won’t get shiny. I threw in a few extra bucks for his services. I’ll be going back soon.

So I learned a harsh lesson about the differences between a professional tailor vs a dry cleaner seamstress. I had an off the rack suit altered by a seamstress but there were some new issues created. So I brought it into Rigo who was mortified with the work. He pointed out issues that I had not noticed. Although he was booked into the next month he squeezed me in since I needed it ASAP for a series of upcoming interviews. Like a previous reviewer said, the place is somewhat old school. Trades like cobblers and tailors tend to be that way as our current society has shifted toward more efficient and cheaper fashion. And as a professional who provides a specialized service you will be charged as such. But you have to consider what this is worth to you. Rigo is friendly and paternalistic(he is not shy about voicing his disappointment in your suit fit). He was very conversant and talked about his life from Hungary to all over the US and serving in the military for a short time. In conclusion, if you need a suit tailored by a professional and willing to pay for the quality service this is THE place to go. I will update this when I receive the final result.

Rigo is professional and gets work done right the first time. My friends who go elsewhere seem to have multiple issues and I tell them, next time you should go to Rigo. You can get work done elsewhere for cheaper but for lasting effect and good quality, Rigo is your man!

Today, many years after leaving Burlington, I tried on a pair of jeans that had become too tight in recent years, just for the heck of it. Turns out I’ve lost quite a bit of weight. And in that moment I felt a rush for the weight loss, but I also felt a rush from the memory of when I got these jeans tailored on Church Street in Burlington, VT. The jeans are actually slightly too large now, but they are the perfect length and fit otherwise. I have Rigo Brothers to thank. Not sure I will ever find a tailor like you ever again… maybe I could make a trip just to have jeans tailored here. :)
