Disclaimer: Brisket is the only BBQ! However, having lived in NC for 36yrs I do like pork bbq IF it is smoked well. I cannot say that about Smithfield. I doubt they even smoke the meat and not sure it’s a butt or shoulder. My plate had a lump of soggy flavorless goo. No bark in the meat and no bite in the sauce. The slaw was yellow! WTH? This is NC and we eat bbq slaw with pork not yellow stuff. Banana pudding was definitely not made in house. We couldn’t even finish it split 3 ways it was so bad. This restaurant should go to a few bbq festivals to see how good bbq taste…

One Star at best, unless you want everything fried– no salads or really any type of healthy food– we had the bbq chicken platter, basically two small pieces of chicken with bbq sauce poured on top, more bone than chicken. The Brunswick Stew was like left overs they just put together with the same Bbq sauce — certainly not the same experience as many years ago at the original Smithfield in Smithfield — somewhere along the way they missed the culture from the food at the original restaurant.

Very clean restaurant; very friendly staff and good food. I like that this place serves up authentic barbecue quickly and at a very fair price without the typical fast food joint atmosphere. They’ll also give my 1.5 year old a balloon which makes eating out a little more bearable.(Keeps ‘em occupied!)

Since we were already in the neighborhood, grabbing a burger at the newly opened Freddy’s, we stopped by here to grab some BBQ& Fried Chicken for later. This was our first time at this location in the Alamance Crossing Shopping Center, and everything was pretty much the same as all the Smithfield spots — very good food, pretty solid service, and reasonable pricing. The Pork BBQ is is pretty good Eastern NC style(wish it were chopped, not pulled — it so screws up the texture), the Fried Chicken is one of my favorites, the FFs are awesome, and their Chicken Tender Sandwich is so sweet. Now, if they only had a decent Hot Dog, and dropped the sugar level in the Slaw.

Outstanding service and food was fresh and hot. Spotlessly clean too! Just stopped as we were passing through town. Great choice!

I had never ate at one of these untill last night when I was in Burlington. It was a last minute decision. I was actually headed to Freddies Steak Burgers when I saw this place. I’m glad I decided to give it a try. First it gets a five start cause it was a great atmosphere for a place like this. It seemed like a step up from the average fast food place. The inside was very nice and clean. well lite with nice jazz music playing. The staff was friendly, came around to refill drinks and even the manager stopped around each table to see how the diners were doing! The food was amazing. I had the chicken tender sandwich with a side of hush puppies. The sauces I dipped my sandwich and hush puppies in were wonderful. The price point were awsome for the quality of food you got!!! I can’t belive I been missing out this whole time on Smithfield’s. I found out today that there is acutally a location here in Greensboro! I look forward to going back to try other menu items.

First time trying this place was on a trip to North Carolina. The chicken tenders were actually pretty good! They were nice and crispy with a flavorful coating on them. The sauces that they offered were good as well. I ordered some Hushpuppies, and they were sort of dry. Almost as if they had been under a heat lamp for a while before they were brought to my table. Overall, a good experience, but not worth telling your friends about.

Great place with a modern set up. I like the prompt service. I tried the pulled pork with the potato salad and baked beans. I couldn’t have asked for a better deal. on the drink I wish they had cubed ice instead of crushed ice-makes the drink water down quickly. perfect ambience. lots of other restaurants close by but I chose this one. if you want to go out for shopping there are lots of stores close by.

What Happened to SCNB? I travel a lot between the Triad and the Triangle and I always planned my meal around stopping in Mebane at SCNB. Then one day, I see that they are building another store in the Alamance Shopping Center, Yippee! This is closer to home and I can frequent it more. There are a lot of things to like about SCNB; from the hand wash sinks in the dining room to the southern greetings upon entry. The BBQ is ok, but I really like the chicken(tenders are pretty big), pups, fries, and the stew. As for the staff, they are some of the friendliest folks in the county. Note: the sauce is a thin, tangy, vinegar based fare. I personally would not recommend for chicken, but they do offer their version of BBQ chicken. On my first visit, I was not as impressed as I am with the store in Mebane. On the second trip, I had a takeout order and got home and it was incomplete(they did compensate on a later visit). On my recent visit, the family and I ordered a tailgate special. When we sit and wait for the food, they tell us they are out of breast and offer to substitute them for legs(where they do that at?) we opt out of that crappy deal and waited for the breast: o( For some reason it seems that the chicken pieces have gotten way smaller than in the past and this store seems to consistently overcook it. I like SCNB and I will continue to be a patron, just not this location.

Simply put, this is not barbecue, it’s roast pork with sauce on it. No fire, no wood, not barbecue.

All the food here is pretty solid. We tried the fried chicken, Barbeque, cole slaw, potato salad, hush puppies and iced tea. Everything was good. You can find better barbeque some places, but this is great for a fast food layout. Service is always quick and efficient, and the prices are very reasonable.

Brand new store. It’s really nice. The food is really good. I had a chopped sandwich and a hot dog and I thought they did a great job. The people were extremely nice. There was a little delay in getting some gift cards made, but they were pretty busy and I was eating in so it wasn’t that big of a deal. I saw there sign on a big electronic billboard on the highway and decided to give them a try. Exit 140 off of I-40. It’s kind of hidden behind the Burger King, but easy to get in and out. Plenty of parking.

I enjoyed the service. At first the girl who took my order missed a few details and I got the wrong thing. However, when I called the manager he fixed my order right away and the girl and the window was very nice and smiled and provided great service. The hush puppies are really good along with the Brunswick stew. The chicken is horrible though. They say bbq chicken but there is no BBQ in the sauce at all. The«tomato base» BBQ sauce is just tomato sauce and the«vinegar base» BBQ sauce is just vinegar with peppers in it. If you are looking for BBQ chicken this is not the place for that.

I was in the area for business and decided to take home some local bbq. I asked around and a few people recommended Smithfield’s and there was one nearby, so I gave it a try. I had a hard time figuring out what to order, but the person taking my order was very helpful. I ordered a bbq value pack and the brunswick stew which was the daily special. I received the order quickly, which I was pleased about since I was driving four hours home, but perhaps I should have stopped and double checked my order. I got home and unpacked the food and was disappointed to find that part of the order did not make it into the bag. It diminished the meal a little bit, but the bbq was very good and brunswick stew was great. I sent in a comment to their comment line stating that I did not get what I’d paid for and was disappointed. I got a call the next day, but I couldn’t pick it up, so the gentleman left a message saying that he’d try to call again. But that was the end of it. I called his number and left a message twice and wrote again to the comment line, but have gotten no further response. What would have been a good experience has been soured by the poor customer service. I should have checked my order before I left the restaurant, but I was in a hurry to get on the road and I hate being that person in the line that double checks everything. I’m not sure I would go here again. And if you are getting a carry out order, make sure that you check your bag to confirm that everything is there.

My first time here. Although I completely appreciate«the customer is always right» treatment by the staff, the truth of the matter is I would not have messed up my order twice(!) if the menu were easier to follow. Note to self: next time keep the fried chicken(instead of bbq version) and skip those fries.

Located among all the chaos at Alamance Crossing, it’s easy to see from the interstate, but kinda hidden when you try to find it, on a dead end rd back behind the Burger King which is on the main drag. This is a super nice location, just opened a couple weeks ago, still got that fresh new smell to it. Smithfield is one of my favorite places for BBQ& some pretty great fried chicken & chicken tenders. The food is as good here as any of the other Smithfield locations I have been to. For good BBQ you just can’t go wrong at Smithfields.
