Front desk staff and phone staff are uppity to say the least. Fitness center=dingy. Locker rooms=disgusting. I never wanted to be inside this building, in the depressing basement no less, to work out, the thought was just never appealing to me. Everything about this place is run-down. Aesthetics ARE important YMCA. Renovate the entire interior and you’ve got a start. Also, if I’m paying for my membership, please do not tell me not to use my phone while I’m there.

First of all, changing the name to the Pomerleau Y is just plain gross. Secondly, if the guy donated so much money to necessitate a name change, where did it go? The gym is run down, the locker rooms are dingy, the basketball court is a hazard, and the member childcare constantly changes its hours and policies. Everything in the place is just tainted with age and in desperate need of upgrading. The pool is nice and they did bring in a few pieces of nice equipment but that is just a drop in the bucket compared to what has to be done. Me thinks some decision makers are swallowing up too much salary and not making good decisions. There are far better gyms in the area for what this place charges which is a shame because the Y could be so much better.

Lots of options for price. Classes, cardio, free weights and basketball. Really wish there were more cardio equipment in the Winooski location. Knowledgable staff. Very clean and organized.

Was looking for an alternative to the tiny and packed UVM weightroom. Called in and asked for a free tour and trial. The employee said they did not offer such trials, even though another employee had told me to come in and try them out a month before.

For what they charge, the gym should be nicer. When I called, I was told to come in any time for a tour and a free session. When I showed up around 5:30, I was told, rudely, that this was their busiest time and no one could give me a tour. So, I asked that they direct me to the locker room and the cardio area. The women’s locker room was disgusting: it smelled like pee. The cardio area reeked of sweat in a way that made me choke. This was definitely knocked off my list of potential gyms. Yikes.

I tried out this gym the other day. It was a decent gym, nothing beyond a basic gym. Everyone who worked there was incredibly nice and gave me a tour of the facility pointing out unique pieces of equipment. I did enjoy some bikes they had. They were regular exercise bikes only they had screens in front of you so you could ride by the ocean or through the woods. When going up hills, it definitely gets harder and you are able to shift gears. It was pretty fun and a great way to get a workout. They also had a new line of stationary weights — Strive. Each set of reps is at a different setting — each one focusing the bulk of the weight at a different point in the rep(beginning, middle, and end). They have lots of classes that come as part of the membership including: kickboxing, spinning, and belly dancing. The only downfall is that the place appeared a little dirty, which was somewhat of a turn off. However, I did enjoy my experience and will definitely visit again soon.
