Stopped in for lunch on the way to Inks Lake. Jr. Sandwich meal was more than I could eat and was the best food I’ve had in months. BBQ is usually expensive but this was, not and was delicious. We stopped because we were traveling with a dog and they have tables outside and it was a perfect spot for the whole family.

The Bar-B-Q-Shack is a small shack like the name says. It has a small sitting area of picnic tables and a small outside sitting area. We were driving through and I wanted to find a BBQ place to eat. I checked Unilocal and decided on this place. You walk in and order at a small line of food they have pretty good brisket and sausages. The plates are 12 dollars with 2 sides and beans included. I got the lunch special for 6 dollars which was a brisket sandwich, beans, chip, and drink. I didn’t want bread so I took the meat out and ate it separate. It is cheaper than getting the 12 dollar plate and the same amount of meat. The Shac serves Saturday for lunch only. They have a friendly staff. The place is not much to look at. The food was good. I’m not a self-proclaimed expert on BBQ but they were good. Not best but what is? And I would not go out of my way to eat here again.

What a treat, perfectly prepared bar b que beef and pork sausage is made in house smoked perfect. Brisket dry rubbed, held ¼ inch smoke ring very moist and sliced well and pulled apart with a fork very tasty. Pork ribs also dry rubbed perfect flavor mix of salt and butter held up well to a bite mark very tender all if it was an outstanding representation of hill country bar b que. We never tried the sauce didn’t need it, and didn’t have room for potato salad, or cole slaw. Friendly and informative staff they took a lot of pride in what they were serving and they should it was fantastic.

It is still open. Its hard to see. Drove past it for years without ever noticing it till a co-worker took me there. Top Notch BBQ at decent prices. The staff are very friendly and can tell they love their job. It’s a small place not much for seating. Try the Turkey BBQ sandwich. The best smoked turkey I ever had.

i tried to find this Bar — B Que, using my Iphone and the Unilocal app. Using directions given through google Maps I could’nt find it. Then I tried to call the provided phone number in Unilocal but it wasn’t active anymore. Is this BBQ out of business? If yes please remove it from Unilocal listing.

I was about to ask what a West Coaster would know about BBQ, but those that know I was born and raised in *gasp* Southern California would surely cry foul at the question. I tell you what I know about BBQ. I know when brisket is moist and flavorful. I know when sausage is wonderfully smoked and purchased from a place that knows how to make sausage. I know when BBQ is more than a job, when it’s a passion. I was surprised to find only two people at the counter of Burnet County BBQ — obviously the owners. For some reason, I expected to find waiters and waitresses. Not an unpleasant surprise. We ordered brisket, beef ribs and sausage and while the man behind the counter sliced it up, he handed us pieces to snack on. He sliced up the sausage and offered us some — I declined saying I wasn’t a fan of sausage because typically it is too spicy and gives me heartburn. «It’s probably because it’s that Elgin sausage. Try this.» We went back and forth for a while and finally I gave in. He was right. The sausage was mellow and flavorful and didn’t leave that horrible feeling of regret one usually has with sausage. While I typically don’t enjoy being forced into eating something I don’t want to, I can say in this case, I was wrong. DOYOUHEARTHATUNIVERSE? I WASWRONG! So, yeah, THAT’S a first. That being said, if I ever get out this way again, I will definitely hit this place up.

This is some above average Q and you will be happy you stopped. The brisket is well smoked and has a nice ring. I would, however, ask that they slice it thinner than the one inch«slices» we were served. I would give the brisket a 7 out of 10. It needs a little more spice in the rub. The ribs were excellent. A 9 out of 10. The spare ribs had a great bark, good spice and nice smoke flavor. The slaw was not good, avoid. The BBQ sauce was also not that great. Tasted like altered ketchup. Overall, very good meat. They need some work on the fixings, but the ribs are excellent.

Wow, this was a plesant surprise. We met some friends at the nearby Longhorn Caverns, and decided to get some lunch after taking the tour. Our friends live up near Killen, and had heard of this place, so we thought we would try it. Man was that a great idea. This place is an amazing little ‘mom and pop’ BBQ shack right off the road. When I wasn’t sure what to order the man behind the counter, the owner I’m sure, let me have a sample of the items I had narrowed it down to. I ended up going with the sausage sandwich, and it was darn tasty. Great food, great people running it. The woman running the register, owner’s wife I’d bet, even took a group picture of us outside.
