Always my go-to café whenever I’m in this town. Love the frappé flavors & how I can have ice cream in it. Seating upstairs is a little funky but it adds charm. Every employee that I’ve met is usually friendly! Will be back !

We stopped in for breakfast and had the gluten free bacon egg and cheese wrap. It was SO good. This is a very small farm to table coffee shop/café with great food and exceptionally friendly service.

Great little family owned, local coffee shop. The service is fast and friendly, the food is real good, and the atmosphere is welcoming. Today we stopped in for breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed the GF, bacon, egg and cheese wrap. Paired with a skinny latte it made for a good start to the morning.

First time here and it was a nice place to read. Especially upstairs which is like a living room. Meatloaf sandwich was homemade and really good!

This is a cute place with a local flair. Non-franchise and locally owned/operated, this little café was a great place to go for breakfast. We were the only ones there when we first got there; however, there were several others coming and going while we ate breakfast. The inside isn’t very big with a few 2 top tables and a 4 top. A few outdoor tables as well when the sun is out. I ordered the sausage burrito, my mom and husband had the waffle and my dad had the eggs. All were very good. If you order a coffee, there was a table with 4 different coffees, cream and sugars. The cups for coffee were fairly large. I ordered a cappuccino and it was VERY strong. I had to put plenty of sugar and cream in it and it kept me up all day. The service was great. Very patient, told us about a few of the items, and make sure we were satisfied. The café posted strong support for the local humane society. Definitely somewhere to get a great cup of Java from a local business. Will go again!

Got the Club sandwich with potato salad. The sandwich was tasty, had a good sauce on it, bacon was thin but had decent flavor, but I’ve had better. The pickle was delicious as all pickles are. The potato salad looked like one put some effort into it, but it tended toward the bland side. Would have spiced it up a bit at least with a bit of salt. Maybe they are catering toward the heart healthy crowd. My review is somewhat limited as I have only been here once, and had only one entrée. I may have to visit here again to try something else. Moral of the story: I’d come here again to give it another try. I wasn’t disappointed in my meal; however, it didn’t boast above average qualities. It is easy to be a critic and hard to be the chef; so, it gets four stars from me.

Appalachian java & café This is a pretty nice little coffee shop if you are ever in the quaint little town of Burnsville When you first walk in you will be quickly greeted by the owner and serviced. If you start to get hungry or not in the mood for any coffee(there’s over 46 flavors to choose from) order some breakfast or lunch that is cooked fresh in the kitchen. Another thing you will notice is just how spotless and organized the shop is thanks to the owner who says she knows everything there is to know about her inventory and whether or not it’s fully in stock or not. Also take notice to how high the sanitation grade of this business is… it’s an A+ literally above 100%. So if you want good service and be ensured that the quality of business you’re dinning in is safe to your health look no further than Appalachian java & café. Appalachian Java is the best coffee you will find in Yancey County. It s located just off the town square in Burnsville. They offer standard coffees, mostly organic/free trade, which are freshly brewed throughout the day though it is self serve for regular coffee. Bring your own cup and it is only $ 1-my fave deal around! They also do teas, mixed coffees and have a great lunch menu with sandwiches, soups and salads made to order. They also have desserts. You can enjoy your brew, go on the internet courtesy of free wifi and view the natives. The owner is very nice and with the exception of one very strange employee who knows who she is, everyone is very welcoming and gracious.
