It’s practically empty! a ghost town! And it ran out of business in September. No wonder. Service was pretty bad when I was the only person there and I couldn’t get anyone to refill my drinks. Is it Minnesota or do Mongolian grills fail here because people don’t know what to do with a big hot stone of stir fry? I miss Seattle’s Authentic Mongolian grills that always seemed to be in every town and suburb.… Maybe in a few years Minnesota will be ready. I am!

Service was really great, but the only thing Mongolian about BD is the fact that they use the large grill and sticks for cooking. There are three buffet bar sections. One with veggies, one with meat, and one with sauces. Food tasted alright, service was excellent, and there was a fun surprise in there for birthdays, BUT… it’s only worth two stars. Been to the other infamous mongolian BBQ chain and found the food tasted a lot fresher. BD’s is less expensive, but the food quality definitely shows it, more like your typical buffet quality. Also, they had marinara, pasta, and italian sausage… that kind of deterred from the«Mongolian» experience.

Thankfully we didn’t have the same problems everyone else seemed to have. In fact the service was remarkable! Our server, Ryan was very good. Extremely attentive, but not in an over the top kind of way– more subtle. Everything we needed he had it there before we had to ask. He was probably the best part of our experience. 5 stars for our service!!! J and I both had the one bowl lunch special which was plenty. We’re stuffed! Salad Bar was a nice option. Had the basics. –Cucumbers –Cheese –Black Olives –Bacon –Croutons –Lettuce– our first go around the lettuce was swimming in water, but it was quickly freshened up. Soup choices were chili or broccoli cheese. Was expecting to see more of an asian-y soup. So I was a little surprised at these. The broccoli cheese was good. The meat and vegetable bar itself. –Fresh meat opposed to Khans frozen. However the steak made my stomach turn at the site of it. It just looked gross. –Chicken –Tofu –Shrimp –Imitation crab –Pork(was good) The vegetables didn’t look that fresh to me. The edamame was a yellowish green. The broccoli was frozen and not fresh. The zucchini looked a little tired out. The gal cooking our food was very outgoing and helpful. I have to say this was not my favorite mongolian fare option. Restaurant is spacious and reminds me a little of something I would find at the MOA with a Survivor feel to it.

I wouldn’t really call it Mongolian food, but it is really good. Best part? Beer-garitas. What’s better to go with your food than a huge margarita with two Dos Equis stuck in it? Nothing. The cooks at the grill are very friendly and always make conversation while you wait. I have yet to have a bad experience here.

A friend and I went to this restaurant on Saturday night 3⁄17 at 7:30PM and had a horrible experience! There were only about 10 tables with people in the restaurant and we were seated immediately. Once seated we were totally ignored. There were a lot of tables around us that were dirty and no one was cleaning them. The staff were too busy talking to each other around the hostess station and a second group were all pushing buttons and talking around a computer station. We were told by a server that she didn’t even realize that we were her table. WHAT? How long had you been working your shift that night and you didn’t know your tables? This was the worst excuse we had ever heard. We sat for fifteen minutes without being waited upon. More tables finished and left and then another couple came in, they were seated next to us and immediately served. The staff would walk by us, look and keep going. I went to the group by the computer, found a manger and told him how upset we were by what happened. He then ran around the restaurant for another five minutes before someone came to the table to take a drink order. One of us ordered coffee, we were told they had to brew another pot and then it was brought to the table in a paper cup, half full, with a to go lid. We should have taken it from that message that we were being told we were not welcome and we should get out. We wondered if they went to a local coffee shop to get this coffee and then drank half of it on the way back to the restaurant. The food tables were a mess and items were mixed together from previous people using the tables, the cooks were too busy running to the back and directing people where to stand that they burned both of our dishes and didn’t even apologize. There are much better Mongolian BBQ restaurants in the area like Khan’s and you should avoid this place and go there. This place is a health code violation waiting to happen if it is not already going on. Being at work is the last place on Earth that the staff would like to be and to top off the evening, the manager avoided us the rest of the time and NOONE asked how things were or if we needed anything else. STAYAWAYFROMTHISPLACE! They don’t want your business and you shouldn’t give it to them. They will go away quickly.

*MANANGERSPECIALRIGHTNOW: 5COURSEMEALFORTWO — $ 30! I love this place, I’ll definitely go back again. First and foremost, it probably is the most ‘Americanized’ Mongolian Gril. but it is definitely better than the other Mongolian Gril that tells you to pile your food as high as you can, but if you can’t finish it, you can’t take it home and you still have to pay for it… But BD’s was great! Our server and all the staff were really nice and helpful. They helped with the sauce mixtures and everything. Two thumbs up.

We went there the other night. We looked up their website, and it looked killer, had great items that were mentioned… Then we got there, Everything is fake, from the employees attitudes, to the fake look, etc. The more I think about it, I’m suprised to see that they have held on through this economy and stayed open. Started out with the salad bar… Lettuce was like it just came out of a tropic storm… Dripping wet and made more of a soup than a salad. Cheap filler is what I looked at it as… ok we got this step taken care of. Then went to the food bar to start our main dish. I noticed the nasty looking chicken legs that looked like they were 2 weeks old, chunks of ribs(just think of the nasty buffet in China Town) then I go and throw some beef in the bowl… it was icky, threw some beans in the bowl but had to pick through ruffly 30 of them to get 3 – 4 good ones, so I gave up. I was looking for all the other things that the website said they had, but it wasn’t there. So I hand it off to the cooks. and the they are weird and flakey. Maybe I’m just used to better or other«‘Mongolian» grills. Got back to the table, took a few bites of it… and the meat was nasty. This was one of the few times I actually left 90% of my food on the plate. After biting and trying to eat that nasty beef, it just sends shivers down my body… It still does while writing this review a few days later. For the price, they really need to step up the food for what it is… an overrate do it yourself buffet… If you want better, go to Mangos or HuHut. The 2 of them are light speed ahead on everything, from the staff to the food quality. Kahns just scares me because of how dirty it is.

I like the place. Yes, It is a bit different and somewhat manufactured. However, my two kids liked it. Granted, we went on Kids Night which both times was unplanned. The staff was friendly but laid back and helpful. The appetizer we ordered the first time was Nachos, and other than the Queso(I hate fake cheese but knew it was on there), it was fairly tastey. Kids eat unlimited for $ 2.00 on Tues and Wed and there are aluminum foil hats made by the servers that are pretty imaginative. The kids play room could offer more, but I’ve yet to see another restaurant have one. The food is good, the grillers were upbeat.

Uh. I don’t really know why we came back here other than we had a coupon. It was an unimpressive visit the first time and this second time I was just dumbfounded with how clumsy the staffing seems. That may be a confusing comment, but while we were there two different servers dropped entire trays of glasses, our server completely forgot about us after he took our drink order and we had to waive down the hostess and we saw another customer freak out on the manager because he had been sitting at the bar for 10 minutes and the bartender hadn’t even acknowledged him! We did get a dessert for free since we sat there with no water or bowls to go get our food for 25 minutes, but even though the brownie sundae was awesome, I just don’t think it was enough to bring me back into the doors. There was very little chanting this time(as it seems some of the other reviews were tortured with), but the manager seemed overly excited about her job and the rest of the staff was simply a little too vacant. The drinks were stronger than I was expecting and the food was okay. I guess since I made it, I have only myself to blame, but the sauces are all just a little meh. If you want a good Mongolian grill, make the trek up to Khan’s in Roseville. That place is yumminess on a plate!

Despite the tacky décor and the super weak drinks, the food was incredible. Not only that but the guy at the grill, miguel was super personable and made me a drink specialty he invented so i could get tanked… 2 shots tequilla, 1 shot whiskey and coke. Its called the miguelito! If you dine here you should demand this employee created drink be on the menu as it is as incredible as, if not more than, the food.

I’m happy to boost the reviews up about BD Mongolian Grill. I am currently on weightwatchers, trying to lose a few lbs, so I was looking for a restaurant that could offer something healthy and yet, filling. BD’s is what I came up with. Fresh veggies, fun meats and sauces that start at 30 calories per serving. I thought the staff were delightful, but I love awkward, overly enthusiastic situations. So, I took great delight in the conversational waiter and nerdy/funny ‘Grillaz”. I thought the atmosphere was fun. Even the manager got involved in sharing his favorite sauce combination. I left feeling like I had new friends. What’s so wrong with that, even if it is manufactured. Granted, it was a little pricey: $ 14.99 for ‘all you can eat’. But the waiter even encouraged us to get a final bowl full of yummy veggie, meat and sauce to bring home. I do think we ate our share. You can’t complain about the food’s taste, because if you hate what you eat, well… you made it. I’d go back. I had fun, laughed and ate ‘healthily’ and well. (we sat outside on the porch which helped with the LOUD, kid-friendly ambiance inside – STRONGLY recommend)

Don’t waste your time. This place was horrible. The service was horrible and the food was mediocre and overpriced. We went here tonight with family and waited for everything… water, bowls, rice. everything. I disagree with Ben in his review. some of the meat was still frozen as were some of the vegetables. It wasn’t fresh, dude. Our experience pretty much followed the general consensus here. it SUCKED. And as John L mentioned in his post, my husband and I both ran for the toilets when we got home. Luckily we have more than one in our house!

I totally agree with Cindy S. I’d give this place no stars if I could. So forgive me fellow Unilocalers for initially thinking I’d write a positive review for this place based on my first experience here back in Dec 2010. I’ve have now been to BD’s 2 times; in Dec with a friend of mine and today with my family – 4 adults, 3 eating kids, and 2 babies. In Dec, I went here with a friend so as two adults with time to spare, I was more forgiving of the lack of service/attention since the food was alright. Back then I would have given it 3 stars. But today, our experience was totally unacceptable. We waited FOREVER to get drinks and then FOREVER to get our first set of bowls. We had 3 crabby, hungry kids plus we were hungry ourselves. Waiting for bowls??? THATAREEMPTY, c’mon man! I flagged down the manager of this place asking for our bowls and rather than apologizing for the wait and terrible service, her response was, «Your server is on the way.» Wow. Did she go through any management training like management 101??? I had to coax my family to come here in the first place rather than our usual Mongolian BBQ place in Eagan called Genghis Grill because I thought it would be better for us – more space, brighter, cleaner. But you know the service is SO much better at Ghengis that I’d rather go there knowing we’ll have a pleasant experience. Don’t bother with this place if: 1) You are hungry, because you’ll be very frustrated at the wait. 2) You are dining with children, because you have to wait. 3) You expect service, because you have to wait. Now, I am a fairly patient person when it comes to these types of things(I am admittedly impatient about other things) but this entire night was just absolute crap.

I wish I could give 0 stars considering I never even got served! I came to this place with a Groupon that I purchased.(FYI is fantastic!) Anyhow, when i showed up with my family we were seated right away! But, we never got any service! I can’t even rate the food because I never got to eat. There were a few servers walking around the restaurant tending to their tables but, no one ever wanted to come over to ours! There was one male server that had a table in the area we were sitting in and he would look at us and just walk away. At first we were like«oh, okay we must be someone Else’s table.» A couple minuets later a busser came by and we told her we have been waiting and we have not seen our server yet and she assured us she would go get someone well, that never happened! The male server came back to his table again and we made eye contact but, he proceeded to walk away again. Well now we have been here for 15 minuets and decided to leave and on our way out we saw the male server at the BAR watching TV. I wish I could watch TV at work.

If you compare this place to other Mongolian BBQ’s this place would be on top. The meat was never frozen and the vegetables are fresh. The service in the dining room however is horrible. The service in the bar area however is great! the managers are great and they will make any problem ok. Just bad servers

I’ve been to Mongolian grills before, so I thought I knew what to expect. But everything was awful. From the atmosphere to the wait-staff to the food, it was the exact opposite of everything I like in a dining experience. The best part, though, was the post-meal survey they foisted upon me. It asked me to rate how enthusiastic and passionate our servers were about stir fry. Really. And that told me everything I needed to know. It was now apparent why I was constantly being harassed by hyper-active, over-aggressive pyschopaths. Never go to this place. Avoid it at all costs. It’s like a wide-eyed grinning cult and it’s downright terrifying. In short… BD Mongolian Grill: The staff will make you run for the door and the food will make you run for the toilet.

My BD’s experience can be likened to a childhood experience at summer camp. You walk in, and there are friendly staff everywhere, smiling and ready to help you to your table. The hostesses ask if you have been here before and give you a rundown of the menu and instructions on how to build your bowl… and just in case you didn’t listen the first time, your waitress will come and do it again.(Can’t have the campers being lost in the restaurant). Once you finally do venture up to the line, the adventure gets even more fun. If you have ever been to a Mongolian grill, you are familiar with the format. Tiny bowl, and tons of ingredients to stack in there.(I never understood why they don’t just give you a larger bowl and say you can’t stack, it would be much less messy…) At any rate, the ingredients were fresh and I stacked a good amount above the bowl as required to get your monies worth. I then proceed to the sauce section where another staffer confronted me and my wife and TOLD us what sauce we want. They asked how spicy I like my food, proceeded to close talk to me for 5 minutes, then said I should have X… BACKOFF, and let me read the sauces and decide for myself. IF I have questions, I will ask you! Now onto the forced activities section of summer camp. You give your bowl to the grillers and they begin cooking. It is usually enjoyable watching these cooks work, but here there seems to be a cheer captain which leads the poor other cooks in forced cheers. There was not 30 seconds without some forced song or the guy asking for participation from the onlookers. I was never really into Pep Rallies as a kid, and this seemed way too forced. Add this to the fact that you had to listen to this even when you were eating your meal, it was very very annoying. So, in conclusion, The food was pretty decent, but overpriced. If you are in the mood for Mongolian in the southern suburbs, I would recommend Genghis Grill in Eagan. Same food, cheaper, and without the camp atmosphere.
