Best tacos I have had in Minnesota so far. We tried the carne asada, pollo, carnitas, and al pastor tacos. Seem to be very friendly people running the place. Definitely worth trying if you are in search of food in the general southern twin cities area.

I live close to Taqueria Hidalgo, and it’s become my first choice for something I can pickup quickly and take home when I’m not willing to cook. I appreciate the«authentic» flare that it has, but that doesn’t come from trying to be authentic either… it just happens. I was at first confused by the menu because it was heavily written in spanish, but that has improved in recent visits with an updated menu board. Because of that early confusion, I would order the various tacos fillings that they have available, which was probably a blessing in disguise. You simply can’t go wrong with the chorizo or al pastor tacos, although the carnitas and beef will do just fine as well. In contrast to other fast food tacos, these aren’t loaded with toppings that really just make you feel like you’re getting a lot. The tacos have plenty of meat As has been mentioned previously, they can earn themselves a higher score(and reputation) by taking a little better care for their space and keeping on top of cleanliness. Granted, some of my visits are after the peak dinner hour, so they may have gotten a little lazy at that time of the night, but if that’s when I’m there, I expect to get the same caliber service as someone who stops by at 7:00.

We ordered 1 quesadilla and 2 tacos and it took them 40 minutes to make it. The food was substandard. No taste no spice — very bland. Totally not worth it. Wish I could have the wasted time back. Front cashier was also very rude.

This is the best authentic mexican in the Burnsville area! I’ve been eating here for years. The ambiance is nothing special and I see people have complained about the cleanliness but I’ve never seen bugs and have never felt sick after. I would imagine the look is last on the owners mind in order to provide such quality and quantity of food for a great price. The owner and staff have always been friendly even when I try to order in spanish and butcher the language! I recommend this place to everyone I know!

TOTALLYAWESOME!!! I ordered carne asada taco. They are basically mexican street tacos. Small, corn tortilla(2), very small. Perfect in every way. VERY tasty fixings on the taco. Little bit of kick. Yum! Hubby got the chicken quesadilla… which was huge. It came with rice and beans too. The taco was a la cart. We got some chips and salsa. The chef was nice and gave us some green salsa that he said was mild. So then he gave us a little thing of a thicker green salsa, which was a lot hotter. It was great! The chips themselves were just ok. Nothing to rave about. Not as good of chips as what buritto mercado makes in st. paul. tried the churro. great! It had a little stream of chocolate cream running down one side inside. Cashier spoke little to no english. very sweet. use a little spanish when ordering if you can. VERY authentic place and awesome food. refreshing change for MN!

I’ve stopped in a few times to pick up Carne Asada by the lb. The beef is really good(and that’s why I keep going back). Sometimes they won’t have it available by the lb so I suggest, calling ahead of time and have them put some aside for a you. You won’t be disappointed!

The food here is so good! There’s options for vegetarians and pretty authentic. My brother lived in Mexico for some time as well as other places in South America and he loves it! The burritos are as big as your head and can be easily two to three meals

I liked the place. Had some good dishes. Used to go there every week. lately it has gone down hill. I couldn’t stand their smelly meat. I think they started to use low quality beef. I just stopped going there.

You walk in and they speak rough English and theirs mostly Hispanic people chowing down, you know its going to be good. Tacos and sauces are awesome(and spicy, this is the real deal.) Also, try the drinks there good as well.

Come here on lunch sometimes to get my Mexican fix. The burritos are delicious and pretty big! Like that they use Mexican rice, which is delicious by itself too. Also give you an option between spicy and regular chicken, I’m a wimp with spicy foods and I didn’t think the spicy was bad at all. I know other people I went with had chicken breast and it was super dry they could barely cut it. Overall nice atmosphere, quick, and food tends to be pretty good!

I got the Taco plate for lunch which came with a Carnitas taco, Steak taco, Chorizo taco, Pork taco, all topped with cilantro and onions with some radishes and limes on the side. I tried the Red sauce which was spicy but fairly mild, not too hot. I’ll definitely be back for more, it’s a nice flavor change from Chipotle type places(this is obviously more authentic and better quality) and no long line/crowd. Most importantly for me I didn’t walk away feeling like I over-ate which is a gross feeling I get from places like Chipotle. The portions here seemed just right for me. There’s a Mexican grocery attached which is fun to explore and bring home something unique. Staff is friendly and accommodating to an English-only speaker like myself.

Big fat burritos. Sopes. A pleasant staff. Quick service. Nothing fancy, all delicious. You should go! I wish they’d turn down the sound on the tvs though. Especially when no one is watching but the staff.

So happy we finally tried this nearby restaurant! Definitely authentic Mexican with beef tongue and head cheese on the menu, ambience is low cost eatery wouldn’t recommend it for a nice night it out. I had the cheese relleno, the sauce was fabulous! My bf had the tacos which were also seasoned perfectly(definitely mild though). I would not recommend getting the gauc:-/ WAY too much lime juice not good… overall very good, we will def head here again!

Got the Combination plato«el Pastor» — pork carnitas, steamed tortillas, refried beans, mexican rice, salad sides. About $ 6. You order and pay at the counter, then seat yourself at a table or booth. The cook/server was really sweet. She discussed options for us and plated up generous portions of our choices. If you like Taco John or Taco Bell, this is not it. It is fresh, home made, authentic and very tasty! Their salsa verde was to die for! And the queso fresco that topped the refried beans was not of the Velveeta variety, thank God! They also featured tacos, burritos, chile rellenos, chips, guacamole, and three salsas of varying«heat.» Can’t wait to try more next time!
