Having just moved to the area we recently tried the Pig and Whistle. Ambience us pretty standard for an Irish bar and restaurant we look forward to going back in the summer time to enjoy their outdoor patio. Ended up getting a Reuben sandwich which was great only downside was no sauerkraut instead they used a braised cabbage which was still decent. Rest of our party ordered a variety of sandwiches and salads and no complaints. Food came out quick with excellent service. Will definitely plan on coming back to the Pig and Whistle in the future.

While it might be a good place to go for a beer, it’s not as much for the food. All I need to say is the broccoli in my «hot pot» was still cold when I got it, like REALLY cold. If you can’t make a basic calzone it might be time to reevaluate your kitchen staff. I’ll never go back.

Went here with a big group of girlfriends back in July — we try to get together whenever we can, and we like trying different places. One of the girls in our group suggested this place, so even though it’s not conveniently located for all, we gave it a shot. Here’s what we thought: Pros: nice outdoor patio, drinks and atmosphere were lovely. The bartender that mixed our drinks made up some pink concoction that was pretty tasty — we all enjoyed that. Cons: the food is really gross. Absolutely disgusting. Everyone in our group each ordered something different so we each got to try everything but no one was satisfied with anything. I ended up ordering some sort of pizza thing but it came out cold and was tasteless and dry – it was like eating plain pita bread. Needless to say, I will never eat here again — the only reason it didn’t get 1 star is because the environment and drinks were decent. Turns out, a few of the girls went back last night(only about ¼ of our crew), and they all got sick off of the food. Glad I wasn’t a part of that experience. We will probably look for a different venue to host our girls’ night. It’s a shame the food isn’t better — the place could then maybe have some potential.

I recently visited here with the primary purpose of seeing Hair of the Dog. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much but overall I had a good visit at Pig ‘N Whistle. We sat outside so I can’t comment much on the interior of the place, but it seemed fine as we walked through. The outdoor patio is clearly where it’s at though! It’s a large area with alot of seating and I’m pretty sure I saw a firepit out there(not that we need one in the summer). It was super laid back and I could easily see hanging out here and catching up with friends. We did order food and it was about what I expected. Granted we didn’t order anything super fancy from the menu(we stuck with burgers and sandwiches) and while everything was decent it wasn’t exactly a foodie’s dream. The service was actually great — out waitress came by frequently to check on us and get refills on drinks. While I don’t think I would necessarily make this a destination of choice, I certainly wouldn’t be opposed to returning here especially of there was a good band playing. I think this is a great addition to the less-than-stellar BH scene!

8MAR151230 We tried again after having walked out before. Last time we were seated by the bar and forgotten. This time we went on a Sunday afternoon and the place was dead. With that said the bartender was more concerned about cramming his face with pizza than taking care of us. Bottom line food was mediocre at best I had a turkey wrap which was full of onion flavor lacking anything else… Ohh it was accompanied by soggy cold french fries. Wife had a pub favorite fish and chips with the same day old soggy French fries. Bottom line this will be the last visit. Disappointed wanted a pub I could call my own and perhaps wheel up on the bike. Get the beer it’s cold!

We headed to the Pig N Whistle on a Sunday afternoon. We sat inside because there was a private party on the patio so we were happy to sit in and watch Football. I ordered the chicken and«biscuits» It came out in a large soup bowl with 2 dinner rolls on top, The stew was almost flavorless, but the huge chunks of chicken had a spice I wasn’t found of, and the rolls turned quickly to gum. Needless to say I did not eat more than 3 spoonfuls. It was awful. We’ve all had that happen where you make a bad menu choice but I love chicken and biscuits so for me not to eat it. it was really not good. When the waitress asked, «How everything was» I looked at my untouched bowl and asked about the biscuits. She said. «they have been dong that lately.» I said it wasn’t good.” I am not a big eater so I seldom eat all my food and the waitress are always asking didn’t you like i? t can I get you something else? and I always assure them it was good and I take it home. She never said I’m sorry. or I will tell the cook. or as in most restaurants they will at least comp you something. But here Not even an offer to make it right. The person I was with ordered the Pot Roast which was good/But we .wont be going back anytime soon,

I ordered at rueben to go with onon rings. Took 20 minutes. I live 2 minutes away, The onion rings were COLD and nasty. The Reuben was the worst I ever had., I ended up throwing it away. The corn beef was tastless and there was no saukraut on the sandwich. I t was the worst $ 20 I have spent in a restaurant. The service staff was good

Pleasant atmosphere, customer service excellent. Real Irish bar! Guinness, smithwicks on tap full bar, irish music playing live authentic irish band… Reuben soup was tasty not over stated or too thick. Fish and chips should be called whale and chips! Served hot crispy beer battered. The owner is invested in creating and maintaining an authentic Irish Pub unlike so many others who just want a watering hole.,., Well done Slainte!

Had my hopes up for this place. Came in on a Saturday afternoon for lunch and it wasn’t crowded at all. Kind of weird for a weekend I would say. Ended up waiting 15 minutes to place our order. To sum it up, staff is slow and food is plain.

I heard this place had the best burger so I had to order it… not the case… very dry and plain jane. I had to put a lot of ketchup and mayo to give it taste. Even the fries were tasteless and soggy. I def would not get the burger again.

I wanted, SODESPERATELY, to like this place, but they just keep letting me down! We’ve paid 3 visits to this place, and tried for a 4th… but– The first time, there was 4 of us– some of the food was ok, but our nachos came out completely black and burnt, and the wings were so greasy, there was no wing sauce on them. that was on a Thursday night. The 2nd time– we tried again, on a Wednesday afternoon… MYBIRTHDAY. nacho’s and wings again, and a «few» beers. Food actually came out good. BUT, unfortunately, there was FLIES, EVERYWHERE! It was disgusting!!! And this wasn’t in the middle of a heat wave! This was a week ago! And they were EVERYWHERE! …on my BF’s hat, on our food, on the table, on my hands, on the windows, you couldn’t shoe them away, there was just too many, it was so DISGUSTING, we left after 1 beer! The 3rd time– I decided to try something different– take out. I ordered an eggplant«Panini». I ordered this off of memory from our last visit,(because their website is STILL down). I ordered it with sweet potato fries– $ 10 eggplant«Panini” — was FRIED eggplant where the grease was literally soaking and dripping down my hands, and the«Panini» was barely toasted, very thick, white bread, soaked in grease with some arugula, and some sort of white cheese. It was HORRIBLE! I didn’t eat one more bite. I threw it out. I did eat the fries, but only because I was starving. The 4th and FINAL time– we decided to do take out on a Saturday night, tonight. We placed the order and the girl on the phone was all ready to hang up quickly, until I asked her– how long? She said–«½ hour to 1 hour. we’re really busy» … Soo, you weren’t gonna tell me that? What kind of time frame is that, anyways? So if I showed up in a half hour, I might have to wait ANOTHER half hour?! Just ridiculous!(We cancelled our order). The bar and restaurant, ambiance-wise is fine,(other than the flies). I actually like that aspect, but I’ll never go there for food, AGAIN.

I’ve been meaning to check out the Pig and Whistle since I’ve heard about it a few months ago. While the restaurant is on Route 50, this is a hard place to find since the driveway is easy to miss and the building that the Pig and Whistle is located in is set back behind a house. It is right next to a bridge over a creek, so that would be good for a landmark. Still, there is ample parking and plenty of seating available when you arrive. For service, I had two servers working on me. One was in training, and she was doing a good job as well, so I have zero complaints about my service. I had ordered a beer from their decent selection of bottled and draft beers. For my meal, I had a fresh salad and the shepherd’s pie. Both were plentiful, tasty morsels. They do have a more extensive food menu, mostly of pub fare and related favorites. Definitely worth coming back here again with friends or family.
