Ruben sandwich was good, cheap nacho cheese sauce on fries, filthy bathrooms with toilets that look like they have never seen a toilet bowl brush and would not offer a to go cup for my full pop refill. They would rather dump it out than give you a cup.

Fast service, not impressed with the food. Clean but needs updating. Creepy man working here. I came on night shift. French toast was eggy, sausage was burnt, egg was slimy, and ham was like leather. Tea and water were great. That’s the one star.

This is a great stop! Hubs and I stopped on a Friday evening on our way up the thumb, wanting something other than fast food, but not one of the usual places in Fort Gratiot! Servings are pretty big. Hubs had a pita and chili fries, we could have easily shared. It was really good. I had a BLT, and I liked that I could choose a different bread besides white. The parking lot may look full, but there is plenty of seating in this place! Plus there are lots of TV’s so you can see a game while you eat. We will make this a regular stop for sure!!!

We finally decided to try Big George’s Coney Island on a trip to the in-law’s place in the thumb. This was recently renovated and opened as a Coney Island and I’m happy to report that they did a nice job! There is plenty of parking and tons of seating inside; and my biggest concern for a smaller place that’s out of the way… It’s clean! The menu was typical of a Coney Island named restaurant, breakfast served all day and some cheap beer! I was actually surprised to see Oberon on tap for about $ 3/pint. The service was good and the quality of the food was again typical of a *good* Coney Island joint. I was in the mood for a National type hani, and their variant was spot on! The pita was massive and it was STUFFED with chicken and veggies. I was also daring enough to try the chilli, hoping that it would be similar to National’s, and it was! I was fearing that it would be that greasy and watery mystery chilli, thankfully, it was not… The food was a really good value; inexpensive, well prepared and the portions were hefty. The wife and I could have easily split the hani clone and chilli fries and left satisfied. This was a pleasant surprise as there’s not much to choose from outside of Fort Gratiot, short of fast food joints in the traffic jammed Port Huron area of M-25. We’ll defiantly stop back in the next time we’re on our way up!

Been here for dinner once and breakfast once, both were great experiences, good food for a diner atmosphere. Tons of flat screen TVS in every direction to stare off into. I think they make the omelettes way too big, but best around Lexington that’s for sure. I did have a bad take-out experience this past weekend however, that has me thinking I won’t be back for awhile. I ordered a grilled chicken pita with greek toppings like feta, onion, olives, etc. Instead of just adding the chicken to the pita, they threw it all on top of the greek pita, charged me double and made the whole pita inedible. The pita itself was mushy and could not even be picked up by hand to eat. I used a fork to take a few bites, but other than that it was a complete failure. I called the next day to ask why I was charged $ 13 for this sandwich, they told me the chicken was an extra $ 4. Ridiculous!!! Next time I pay $ 13 for a pita it better be a Kruse & Muir.
