Incredible beer selection! Left Hand, Sierra Nevada, Flying Dog, Great Divide, Ommegang, Stone… there’s no other place in Butler with a tap list like this. The bar manager keeps it rotating too so there’s always something new. Sandwiches and salads were great too.

I was visiting Pittsburgh and in the area. I decided to call and ask how long they were open for. A woman answered and said they were open until 2am and stopped serving food at 11pm. I show up to the Hangar around 7pm, and it’s completely desolate. Clearly I spoke to a ghost, 0⁄10 would not recommend.

The food was very good and we loved the atmosphere. The service, however, left a lot to be desired. Our server was wearing so much perfume that it was overpowering and made my eyes water. She was also rarely around. Given that there were only two tables(of 2 guests) including mine, she wasn’t exactly busy. I ordered a second drink, she never brought it, then said the bartender was supposed to deliver it. Blaming co-workers? Not cool. For the price point of this restaurant, I would expect better service. It’s a shame because poor service can ruin an experience regardless of the food.

Went about 4:00 were the first ones there. I had the Hanger steak it was ok. My husband had the short ribs, chew chew chew! They were so tough he sent them back. The place was empty the entire time. Floors had mop stains, the wait staff were slow. Noticed the bartender making I’m guessing sangria just added fresh to old. I won’t go back.

We came in on a Friday and were pleasantly surprised. This location has seen ups and downs and the current management is definitely a big up. Creative, well-prepared, fresh food, especially for this area. The wine list is okay, and there is a full bar, but where this place shines is the craft beer selections. The other bright spot was the food. We tried a number of things and everything was wonderfully prepared and nicely plated. Food swings toward comfort steakhouse. The standouts, funny enough, were the amazing vegetables that accompanied our various entrees, including green beans, sweet potato, carrots and brussels(with just a hint of horseradish?). My tip for them — offer a vegetarian entrée that features these veggies with the sweet potato as a base at the bottom of the plate. Delish! Service was friendly, though maybe a tad slow at times(I think one server for the dinner rotation) but honestly, it was nice not to feel rushed. I can’t wait to come back in spring or summer(visiting family) to watch the planes come and go over a meal. Thank you, Unilocal

My husband & I had dinner there tonight. We haven’t tried it since the restaurant switched but decided to give it a chance. The remodel of the building is nice and gives the place a classier atmosphere. Our waitress was very friendly but she seemed a little stretched as there were not many servers working. We had to wait a long time to order and we waited even longer before receiving our sandwiches. My husband ordered a cheeseburger with sweet potato fries. He enjoyed the fries but his burger was overcooked. I ordered the pork tenderloin sandwich with French fries. The sandwich was topped with macaroni & cheese and a vinegar slaw. I thought it would be delicious but it lacked flavor and was bland. We weren’t upset about any aspect of the experience but we won’t be going back. Maybe we just ordered the wrong things. I would still recommend that others try it out because it is a unique menu and based upon the other Unilocal reviews, it must have some fantastic dishes.

Great menu and a good selection of craft beer for Butler area. I liked the atmosphere and our service was great. It’s neat to be right on the runway and see the planes landing and taking off. Very large one room. It would be nice if there was a tv or 2 in the bar section, but we had a live guitarist when we went. I’d definitely go back!

Flew in to try it out. Friendly staff, excellent food. I had a hamburger which must be prepared by a chef. No fry cooks here! Craft beers on tap. Reasonably priced. Excellent view of the runway to watch airplanes and helicopters land.

Great selection of local food. The wife and I went here for a pre-anniversary dinner around 9pm on a Saturday. We were a little hesitant as we figured we’d have to end up sitting at the bar and maybe getting a few appetizers. We were surprised to find the place completely empty. The beer selection is one of the best in the area. Nice variety with no lites or ‘weisers to swill. Liquor is from Wigle’s in Pittsburgh. Some of the fare can be found at the Chop Shop, but there are a few items that stand out at the Hangar — namely the beef heart sandwich and the lamb options. The wait staff are also very laid back and friendly. We loved our meals and drinks. We’ll be back!

The new restaurant has a cool vibe and the food is great! We started off with the popcorn appetizer –it’s dusted with Parmesan, garlic, thyme, and sea salt AND drizzled with rendered pork… this ones for you bacon lovers! I had the crab cakes and Tiger had the hangar steak… both rivaled meals that we’ve had at downtown Pittsburgh restaurants recently but at smaller town prices. The bar menu is different but that’s not a bad thing it’s ok to be adventurous! I can get a captain & coke anywhere so I opted for one of the specialty whiskey drinks and was not disappointed! Who knew raspberries paired well with whiskey?! All of those people who were all«the menu items look weird» and«how about some bar food» and«I guess I won’t be bringing my family there» should go order a piece of the salted caramel cheesecake and shove it in their pie(or in this case cake) hole! This place is a breath of fresh air to Butler! I wouldn’t have expected anything less from Bill and his crew! I look forward to future drinks at the bar out of my Shiner’s Club glass while hanging with my gal pals and listening to live music. The end.

My wife and I go out to dinner pretty often. We live in Southern Butler county, and as such try to support local businesses(and restaurants) whenever possible. Unfortunately, a lot of them are in Cranberry, which means traffic congestion and long waits, neither of which anyone enjoys. So, last Saturday, 7/5, I suggested that we visit one of 2 places, either Hardwood or The Runway. Since we had not been to the Runway in a number of months, she suggested we visit there. The first thing we noticed when pulling in was a sign for«hanger 473». Hmmmm, what’s up with that? We have been going to The Runway for a number of years. First as the runway, then as Ciafres runway, then as the runway sports bar and grill. We walked up the steps and were stunned by what we saw. Wow, what a huge change. They weren’t crowded at all and we were seated immediately. Our waiter, Nathan, was prompt and attentive. He lets us know when we asked that this was their first week as Hanger 473. He brought a drink menu. Anchor Steam on draft? Good start! ordered one and my wife ordered a cocktail. We looked at the menu. Some very interesting and original offerings! We were curious about the popcorn appetizer. Parmesan, Garlic, Thyme, rendered pork? Unusual, so we had to try it. He brought us a small plate with a mound of popcorn. It was very tasty indeed. I would have thought for $ 5 that the portion would have been a bit larger, but it was certainly a tasty appetizer. We decided to order from the sandwich menu. She ordered the Pickled shrimp Caesar wrap, and I ordered the lamb. The lamb sandwich had thin sliced smoked lamb, spiced vinegar slaw, Kale, red pepper and goat cheese. The sandwiches were served promptly and were fresh. I sampled my wifes shrimp, and she sampled my lamb. We both agreed that both were delicious. Full of flavor and a refreshing change from the same old boring sandwiches. I ordered mine with the french fries, wife got the sweet potato fries. The french fries had a batter coating that made them crunch on the outside, yet soft on the inside. They were so good i didn’t even bother using the bottle of Heinz that he brought. I tried the sweet potato fries, of which i am usually not a fan. I liked them! Overall, i think this place is a winner. I am sure there will be some«tweaks» as time passes, but I think we have found a winner here in Hangar 473. We have been searching for a place like this in the Butler area ever since The Brick House went down the toilet a few years ago. No doubt we will be back. I might even buy a mason jar.

Great food, great folks, friendly service. An excellent rotating craft beer selection is a major plus. The creative menu and expertly prepared dishes are more of what Butler/Butler Co. needs.
