This place was pretty good. It’s not bad but it’s definitely far from the best Mexican I’ve ever had. The chips were the best part in my opinion but the dish itself wasn’t extremely impressive. I’d go again but wouldn’t specifically recommend it.

What’s to say that already hasn’t been said? Not much! This place is awesome. Some of he best Mexican food ever. And that goes for everyone at the table. Great place. Definitely stop by if you’re in the area and looking for a meal.

It is one of the few places in Western PA that I feel you get authentic good Mexican food.

I had the Chicken Enchiladas Verdes — Simple, straightforward, and delicious. AND, it comes with a tasty thin-cut steak«on the side.» The only knock on Rey Azteca is that they don’t serve alcohol.

There’s a reason the parking lot here has always been filled since the day it opened well over 10 years ago. The food, atmosphere, service & prices are unmatched by any other restaurant in Butler! The complimentary chips & salsa are always a great start! You won’t leave here hungry! The menu is endless, the prices are very fair and the service is lightning fast! Muy deliciosa! Mi favorito!

It’s not bad, but there is no other Mexican restaurant in butler so I can’t hate it much. I’ve be to other restaurants in other states and this one doesn’t even compare, the guacamole is horrible, the salsa is bland and has no spice to it. I’ve only been here 2 times in the last 4 years, I only went back because my wife is pregnant and wanted Mexican food. And the prices suck. Your better off making your own.

The chips and salsa great. I ordered the spicy chicken enchiladas with cheese sauce and it was disappointing. The chicken was bland and there was a bone in it. I told our waitress who was less than enthusiastic during our whole entire meal. She didn’t apologize as I took two whole bites of my meal. She brought me the check with the charge on it and made no attempt to take it off. I had to ask the cashier to take it off. There was a waiter who seemed nice and enthusiastic. Too bad he wasn’t ours. Food was not okay. Won’t be going back.

Outstanding service and delicious, authentic Mexican food! My personal favorite dinner is the Chicken & Cheese Flautas. We always order the Pico de Gallo appetizer, which is always very fresh and tasty. Beware the yummy Queso dip – it’s addictive too! The takeout is also quick, and the value and portions are excellent for the price. True, it’s not very big and it’s BYOB, but we go for the food, not to hang out or drink. Rey Azteca is my favorite restaurant in Butler. We have been going every week for a few years now, and I’ve never been disappointed. For those who think it’s «bland,» try the hot sauces – they range from Mild to Paint-Peeling.

Great food! unlike the others that claim to be from Texas, I lived in New Mexico and this food is comparable to what you will find out west. Best you will get in the area.

I absolutely love this place! The food is always delicious! Service is very fast but it can get pretty crowded on weekends at dinner time. Take out is always a good option. Only downside is the awkward parking. Otherwise, amazing!

«I know real Mexican food» wtf? This place is maintained by Mexicans and it is absolutely authentic. I have no idea who owns it and I could not possibly care less. Service has always been amazing. The prices are great for the amount(and quality) of food you receive. Currently living in Brooklyn, NY and I haven’t been able to find a Mexican restaurant that compares. Not to mention the time I was living in Los Angeles and had to go all the way to East LA to find a decent Mexican meal. Always well maintained and it’s also centrally located– keep up the great work, Rey Azteca!

Best food in the area. I recently moved out of the area, but I used to go so often that they knew who I was and what I wanted when I called to order take out!

Love this place for mexican food! The food is awesome and service is great. I moved to Pittsburgh from California, so I do feel I have had some of the best mexican food to compare with this place. Just a bummer that there’s only a few locations because the other mexican restaurants in new castle and cranberry do not have my fave dish: the pork carnitas with the verde sauce. If you like spicy food, definitely get the verde sauce. The pork in the carnitas is so soft as if it was braised or slow cooked. You don’t need a knife, it will just fall off. I’ve tried other dishes off the menu, and none has disappointed me so far. The servers are very attentive and nice. The food comes out fast and hot.

I don’t understand why everyone thinks this place is so great. Maybe I caught them on a bad day, but the food was super bland and the«salsa» was closer to ketchup. The staff was nice, but I was sorely disappointed in the quality of the food. The owner said he was from San Diego, and I actually found it easier to order in Spanish… perhaps that raised my expectations for authentic Mexican cuisine higher than they should have been given the region.

Coming from northern VA which is way more easy to access food from other ethnicity. Being sole Mexican/somewhat Spanish restaurant here in Butler, definitely nothing you can’t compare to. Food taste good, not great. The price is very affordable! The parking lot is very awkward to park and if you go there for dinner, they are easy to get filled quickly.

Rey Azteca was literally the first Mexican food I’d ever eaten. I was concerned at first, since I’m not a huge fan of spicy things, but they had a great selection that I could pick from, plus they were willing to change anything to whatever my preferences were. Great service. And the queso cheese dip in the very beginning? Amazing. This place definitely gave me a love for Mexican food. I’ve had a lot since then, but Rey’s is always the one I come back to.

One of my go to’s anytime I’m home visiting friends and family. The bottomless chips and salsa can’t be beat but of course I can’t pass up the white queso dip… sooooo good. Seriously, the best queso dip on the planet. The prices are really reasonable, especially once you see the portion sizes! I have always loved the food there. Go!
