Excellent Mexican food. Definitely my favorite place to eat in Byron. I’ve always received good service when I’ve visited, even when they were busy. Prices are about what you would expect at a Mexican restaurant, maybe a little bit cheaper.

The margaritas are some of the best I have ever had. All the food we have tried has been great. At times, the service has been slow with larger groups. They’ve been out of some items too. That’s the only reason why I can’t give them a «5». But we love the food and drinks!

At one point during our meal, I screamed the word«YOLO» at the top of my lungs. No one seemed to care. I would recommend this place to others.

I really like Dos Amigos. They start you our with fresh chips and salsa, lots of drink choices and a full bar. Try the horchata, its delish. I always order some sort of burrito or chimichanga with rice and beans, if you don’t like melted queso blanco, now is the time to say so. Lots of their menu options come with melted queso poured over the top. I didn’t care for it at first, now I ask for extra. It is so good. Great wait staff and the atmosphere is very cool. A family favorite.

This had been one of our favorite restaurants in Byron. But our last several visits have less than pleasant. The service has degraded and tonight was the worst. We will not be returning. There are many other restaurants in the area that will be receiving our dining out $$ in the future. The food is hot and quick, but it falls far short of being good, authentic Mexican food. The only thing it has going is that it is the only Mexican place in the area. Others who rate the the food high must have never been to a high quality Mexican restaurant.

Amazing food. In this small town I could not believe there could be such a good Mexican restaurant. My favorite is shredded chicken nachos. It is all white meat and flavored/cooked perfect. None of the dishes we have tried disappointed in flavor. The salsa is really good too! The food comes quick and the staff is really nice! I’m not as big of a fan of the margaritas as others that have reviewed. They are good but not the best I have had. Their mixed drinks are decently priced in comparison to other places. I really want to give more stars because the food is awesome and comes quickly. But there has been a few times when our takeout order was wrong. Our most recent visit(eating in the restaurant) the shredded chicken nachos had a great deal of liquid in the bottom(almost ¼−1/3″). I don’t like to complain but when we brought it to the waiter’s attention he said that is how it comes and was because of the chicken. I get that dish every time we eat at the restaurant and never had water/liquid like that. It was disappointing. That particular day was really busy and it seemed they may not have not had enough staff and struggled to keep up. I will continue to go here and order take out as I do love the food and the staff is really nice. Just be really clear on your order if you are ordering over the phone. I am counting the recent setback with the chicken nachos as a fluke and am looking forward to increasing the number of stars in future reviews.

Authentic Mexican food used to be non-existent in this area. When my brother-in-law told me about this place, I gotta admit, I was sceptical. I was wrong. The food was great, service was very fast and friendly, and the margaritas were damn tasty and strong. It’s not the best I’ve had in my life, but it’s probably the best in the area.

My husband and I had dinner here a week ago and were really surprised at how good it was. I had chicken fajitas and the portion was huge — maybe they gave me the double size accidentally but it was ok because I got another meal out of it. My husband had a chimichanga that he really enjoyed. Margaritas were good, chips were fresh. I was surprised at how many people they could seat in what looked like such a small space. However, the parking was a bit of a challenge and although we were seated without a problem, people later had a wait and there isn’t a good place indoors for waiting. Our waiter was ok, could have been friendlier but the cashier was nice. I picked up a to-go menu before I left for future meals.

Pretty good find while driving through town. I love Mexican and have traveled all over Mexico and the southwest states… This place was definitely better than I would have expected. Fast lunch, great colorful décor and friendly service. Not to mention easy on the pocket book. I enjoy it!

If you’re looking for great service, tasty Mexican fare and delicious margaritas look no further than Dos Amigos! It’s the best thing that happened to the restaurant scene in Ogle County in a long time. We love it for a quick and tasty weeknight treat. You receive homemade chips & salsa when you sit down and all the meals are served fast and fresh. Try the burrito grande or the chimichanga, but we haven’t had a bad meal yet.
