This place has been great since I was growing up and would bike down here to get a sandwich, a drink and chips for $ 5 as my demonstration of the fact that I was a free kid who could do what he wanted. It’s still good and it’s on of the few places in the little strip that is worth going to. I’ve yet to have their Asian specials, but from what I’ve heard they’re only OK at best. The thing to get here are the sandwiches. I always get the C&O, which is turkey breast, avocado, provolone, tomato and honey mustard on a French roll. My wife always gets the Seven Locks, which is their reuben. Both are great as are the specials of the day. Seriously, it’s as good a sandwich as I’ve had from a little deli in a while. To have it walking distance from my house is pretty great. Everything else is overpriced from the chips, to the drinks, to the wine, to the beer. The selection of beer is OK, but not as good as the co-op in the same shopping center, so I go there. I suspect the same is true with the wine, but I’m not a huge wine person. If the deserts or chips were better and/or cheaper, it would probably get 5 stars. As it is, a local sandwich shop with good sandwiches earns it a sold 4.

I used to like this place when it first opened, but with the ownership change, the quality of the sandwiches has gone way downhill, and almost nothing has prices on them. I took a small bag of chips to the register: $ 4.99! I said no thanks, and brought up a chocolate chip cookie instead: $ 3.99! All of this from the memory of the woman behind the counter. I’m going up to the Co-op or to Captain’s Market from now own.

The sandwiches here are excellent. They also have great Korean food like Bibimbap and Bulgogi. The soups are delicious and the people are friendly. 10 outta 10, would eat at again.

The sandwiches are okay but very overpriced. Everything there is overpriced. The beer and wine selection is mediocre at best. If you’re looking for a really great wine and beer selection you might try walking up the hill to the Bethesda Co-op. It’s much more expanded and reasonably priced. I used to go to this place for sandwiches all the time but they charge an dollar extra per add-on(e.g. cheese) it’s ridiculous. If you’re thinking about going here, just skip it and go to the co-op.

Quick service. Nice selection of sandwiches and«build your own» options. Outside seating was nice. The only problem is there isn’t a lot of parking.

Decent place that is a convenience store, deli and Korean take out. I had a bibimbap that was pretty good but small for $ 10. My coworkers had a variety of sandwiches that they said were excellent.

I’ve been coming to the market on the boulevard for 10 years due to the fact that I’m a former Cabin John resident. The meals and sandwiches can be okay, but they’re far overpriced. Everything in here as always seemed to be overpriced! Service can be okay but for the most part, the atmosphere is rather cold.

Decent place. There are a couple of restaurants in a strip mall. We had ramen from the deli. Not the best, not the worst, but it’s an easy shot off of 95 and it’s not fast food.

This place is overpriced. The food is okay, the coffee is bad and location is good. Drinks have no price marked and usually it’ll cost double than a 7 – 11, for example. Next time I’ll rather make a run to the village or somewhere else.

The only thing this place had going for it was that it was the only game in town-therefore it is shamelessly overpriced, the interior hideous, even after some recent renovations. It reminds me of a highway station, a little bit of everything for the masses but nothing special. I rather eat at home. So glad there is Fish Taco around the corner now.

Great concept — this is a full deli serving Boars Head meats, with a good wine selection, and serves basic Korean foods(bibimbap, japchae), ramen, phở, and other noodles soups. Perfect for the different palates of my family.

Omg amazing sandwiches! The avenel is my favorite and go-to choice although you can’t go wrong. There is also a great selection of snacks, beer, and wine too, a huge bonus if you ask me. There is indoor and outdoor seating but it can be limited if it’s busy. The market is a total diamond in the ruff and my preferred restaurant choice if I want a deli sandwich. I crave them! I can’t comment on their other food since I’m hooked on their sandwiches.

A very simple deli and wine shop where everything is sold at full retail price or more. They do have a few unusual packaged items from Asia but nothing special. Sandwiches range from OK to not so great.

Hidden gem… Unassuming… A couple words I’d use to describe this place. You walk In and your like, «oh a nice little beer and wine store.» Then your like«oh — looks like they have expresso drinks too.» And then your like, «oh I guess they do sandwiches and deli as well» and then your like«what… they have bibimbap and japchae?!» Ok now your messing with me — and then your like«what are these little grocery items» and then your like«oh there’s even more café seating» and then your like«but there’s all that great out door seating» and then your like«this bibimbap is pretty good coming out from a beer and wine store» and then your like«that classical music they’re playing really does set the mood» and then your like«that woman who worked the front was really nice» and then your like«yeah I definitely think I’ll be back up in this b» and then your like«bye»

I discovered this great hole in the wall deli on my way to Great falls, Md. The interior design is architecturally savvy, and produces a cozy, winery like experience. I have tried just about every hot sandwich on the menu and they are all amazing. The Market also has a large array of sodas(even imports), a large section of imported and domestic beers, and wine/champagne throughout the store. Even the snacks such as chocolates and chips are gourmet and typically not found in the average convenient store. The only thing negative about this restaurant is it’s fairly high prices(about 7 – 8 $ per sub.) However, the quality of the bread, meats, and condiments are outstanding and make the price seem fair.

Great gourmet snack spot in a small neighborhood strip type mall. Expensive but welcome stop in an area with not too many stores or restaurants. All the schwanky teas, sodas and wasabi seaweed chips you need.

Cute store but when they told me the two ice cream novelty items from the freezer case came to $ 8.46(same products would be $ 4.00 at 7 – 11) my jaw dropped. Rip off.

At a quick glance from driving by, The Market on the Boulevard(TMOTB) seems like an ordinary neighborhood deli/beer+wine store. However, take a stroll inside and you will find a gourmet oasis in an area(Potomac/Cabin John, Maryland) rather sparse of foodie places. In short, a gem for nice and simple Korean food or stocking a gourmet pantry full of imported/domestic prepared foods, coffee bar, deli of sandwiches and hot entrees, and dairy section, all complete with very friendly and impeccable service. At our first visit, my dining companion and I sampled their Bibimbap and Jap-chae. A healthy dose of shiitake, carrots, spinach, and sauteed beef, each entrée had a fresh, clean, and refreshing balance(also rice, Go-chu-jang, and egg for the former; plus white sweet potato flour-based vermicelli noodles for the latter). For the quality and neighborhood, $ 9.99 for each was reasonable and compelled our return for Kim-bap(Korean rolls which was not listed on their catering menu but definitely available upon request) to have catered for a party. For our party, spoke to Naomi who took our order. She asked told us to come by our projected pick-up time of 6:30pm of the day of our party. When we called that day, Naomi was not there so someone else told us to come by 6pm. Since we had enough time, we arrived at then and was surprised to see Naomi walk in just before us. She told us that 6:30pm was indeed the right time, and they working on our Kim-bap to finish at 6:30pm ONTHEDOT! Wow! Kim-bap is food meant to eat fresh, and boy did they mean it! 8-) Since we ordered plenty(minimum 10 rolls at $ 5/roll in order to get the nice catering plate on the house), we asked to have a few rolls while waiting. After a short wait, she brought some out. Made with rice, carrots, spinach, egg, dan-moo-ji(pickled daikon), fishcake, and sauteed beef(we asked half to be a pescatarian with shiitake instead of the beef), the Kim-bap was super fresh, balanced, and well-seasoned! When Naomi noticed that we finished eating, she generously brought out more Kim-bap. Since they were the end pieces and were not going to be included in our order, she wanted us to enjoy them as well. They tasted even better being higher roasted seaweed and roasted sesame oil to rice ratio! Service befitting of a high-end restaurant, TMOTB earned even more points through its stellar service! To wash down our surprisingly generous pre-party meal, we had some water from the soda fountain. What resulted was a culinary tear of joy! :_) TMOTB’s water tasted amazing! Fresh, clean, cool, and incredibly pure, the soda fountain water tasted better than water served at many high-end restaurants in DC and around the world that we experienced. *Begin Soapbox* Why do I make such a big deal about the(drinking) water? It is THEMOSTESSENTIALCOMPONENTINTHEKITCHEN, for preparing and cooking as well as for drinking. It is absolutely astonishing how many restaurants overlook this most basic of basics(i.e. Adour in February 2009). If the water is heavily chlorinated, not only does it detract from the flavor of the food, it also compromises the health of the diner. Good restaurants have water that is mostly devoid of the chlorine odor when served with ice, but very few are so well purified that it tastes completely inert(with a slightly sweet aftertaste for delicate palates). TMOTB elevated itself to another echelon by going above and beyond. *End of Soapbox* In addition to the great food and service, TMOTB is stocked with fancy nuts, chocolates, organic milk, locally-raised eggs, gourmet pasta/sauce, and ice cream. With generous hours(open 13 – 15 hours/day) and sunny ambiance, TMOTB is a diamond in the dining rough of Potomac/Cabin John, MD!

I like comparing this place to the Italian Store in Arlington. Why? Cause it has awesome sandwiches and an extensive wine selection. I had mainly stuck to their sandwiches, which were flavorful and generous in portion. But they just renovated the entire place and added a bunch of new Korean dishes(the owners are Korean) to their menu. Woohoo! Now you can quickly order and take out bibambap or bulgogi without having to drive all the way down to Annandale! It’s more of a locals spot and tucked inside a strip mall with a small parking lot, but if you’re going to or coming back from Great Falls, it’s a great place to grab some food and recharge. You might as well bring home some good wine too while you’re at it.
