Have no idea how they came up with the name Purple Onion or what it stands for. Not overly impressed with anything here. Been here twice and both times just average. Absolutely nothing to brag about. Both times here at lunch and no lunch plate or special offered. If so, it was not offered to me. Had the 50⁄50 bacon burger and fries. Burger was ok but nothing special. Better burgers other places. The fries look like they came from the bottom of the bag, better fries other places. Parking was fine. Service was good. Pricing was fair. The food did not meet expectations and was just ok. Can’t recommend this place and might or might not go back. Not looking forward to another visit.

This was my third and last visit. The other two visits were for lunch. Lunch was pretty good, one visit the service wasn’t the best. So this time we met some friends there for dinner. Hostess was friendly, waitress promptly brought our drinks and appetizers. Now it goes downhill… I dip into the salsa that has way too much garlic. My chip hits what I think is a chunk of tomato. Nope, it’s a soggy chip in the bottom of the salsa! Gross! So now I’m ready to barf. The waitress said they would take the $ 3.99 off my ticket. Really, that’s what you offer to a customer that just ate someone’s leftover salsa? Never again Purple Onion.

After reading mixed reviews for The Purple Onion on Facebook and Unilocal,I decided to go check it out for myself. The service was excellent. Our waitress, Heather, was very friendly, knew the menu, and was very attentive to her tables. The food was really good, the portion sizes were very generous, and it was very reasonably priced. I will definitely go back!

I have visited the Purple Onion several times but I have yet to leave the restaurant truly impressed. The service is always friendly even if not entirely attentive which is fine. They have a full bar which is their most redeeming quality as far as I am concerned. They offer a couple of «house brews» which normally taste like someone’s beer home brewing experiments; very hit or miss and often lacking body or any real craft beer flavor. Apparently they redesigned their menu, but I haven’t noticed much different. The burgers are a good choice. They are a nice size and mine was very juicy and messy, but I missed any seasoning on the meat. I had a «grit cake» with it, which was better than the fries but not a good side choice for a burger. The gumbo is pretty standard. Hearty and tasty, but not as rich, dark, and flavorful as some other local choices. I would highly suggest against the tacos. Over priced, bland flavor and very small size. The«cilantro rice» was very overcooked and not tasty, and the black beans must have just been dumped out of a can on to my plate. The chips and salsa/queso blanco are nicely priced for the portion sizes they give you but the cheese dip isn’t very flavorful either. Overall if you want a drink with your meal the Purple Onion can be a solid choice. Beyond that, after several visits now I have still yet to find anything spectacular.

First off I don’t know where these bad reviews come from, I get that restaurants all of them have their bad nights but this place is Julie really good. And if parking is an issue to you maybe you should go practice how to park. For me every single time I go the service is great they treat me really well, if your summer has health issues then maybe you should tell them no salt don’t blame the restaurant because that’s the recipe.

Service ok, food generally not very good. I expect Cajun to have a little spice. Have yet to find an item on their menu with any at all

It was late on Sunday and we were hungry, did not know what in Cabot was open as there is little to no information about local restaurants on Unilocal(trying to improve that while I am in town). Stopped here as it was the first place we found open. Service was great, food was ok. When the waitress brought the menus she shared that they were out of some things, which included many of the entrees and most of the pasta dishes. We opted to share the quesadilla — it was served promptly and was hot. It’s rather plain, served with pico, guac, and sour cream and was easy to share. Found it strange that the waitress only brought one plate in addition to the plate full of quesadilla.

Cabot desperately needs some Unilocal action so I ventured forth into the unknown for the good of all. I’ll try to be brief. To small a parking lot for number of seats inside. Wasn’t a problem though — it was pretty slow for a lunch place at high noon on Tuesday. Great, new building, «country/sports bar-esque» feel. Super friendly hostess met and seated me promptly and I had a water quick. My server was very friendly but could’ve been a little more attentive during my 25 minute + wait for food. Half and half iced tea was perfectly adequate. Blackened fish with creole sauce was good and cilantro rice was the highlight of the meal but not enough of it for the price I thought. Fries indeed seemed home cut but lacked anything extra special like salt or pepper. The ketchup in squeeze bottle had been sitting on the table to long and had turned so it didn’t help the fry situation. Server was apologetic about the wait and the ketchup and I didn’t ask for anything to make up for it. Those things happen sometimes. I know everywhere isn’t perfect. Which in summary is how I feel about Purple Onion: it ain’t perfect but will get you better than just plain fed. Looking forward to trying other things in the menu.

Food was good, service a little slow. Had the gumbo and crawfish étouffée, really good. Wife had the Mahi Mahi, salty but good. Black bean salsa is from a can, good choice of beers.

we dined mid May, mid week and 8:30pm. it far exceeded our expectations. the staff was attentive and knowledgeable, the food tasted fresh made and flavorful. if you tried during the opening, go back and try again. we heard mixed reviews and as I mentioned, our experience was fabulous. visiting from Vegas we experienced plenty of bad places in AR, so trust that we know good food and customer service. we were nervous about the seafood but ended up ordering more because it was soooo good. our party consisted of ages 4 – 65 and all of us were satisfied. EVEN the beer tasted better than expected because their system is still clean!

Wasn’t thrilled with the food but our waiter was great. I think I will give this place one more try with another food item but just don’t go here for a chicken quesadilla and their salsa is awful.

Charly my server was the right amount of attentive. The management even came by to see if all was well. Fish and chips were ok and decently priced. The cheese cake was frozen boxed stuff with strawberry jelly topping which is wired to me as I’m a transplanted new englander and never had jelly for my topping before. The bartender that day was Bobbi who seemed friendly and attentive to her customers.

Now that I’ve spent the better part of the last half hour throwing things up I ate four years ago. I can finally tell you how awful this place is. First, our horrible in attentive waitress. Second, overly salted, over done garbage disguised as food. And third, the utter lack of parking. The first point needs no explanation. She should go back to beauty school. Waitressing isn’t her bag. The food. Ugh. The food. First our«queso» and chips. Stale, old, heavily salted chips. And what I’m guessing is velveta and some pepper melted. I rarely eat pork. I mostly hate it. Never eat bacon. Medical reasons I cant have high fat contents or I get sick. Like I am now. I digress. I thought by it being a «50÷50» burger it meant fifty fat fifty meat. Like most beef if labeled. I had a shit week and decided to get the burger. Ill live after 50% fat. Maybe have a small stomach ache. But. No no. It’s fifty percent bacon. Fifty percent beef. So more like 75−85% fat. The two MOD stopped by our table. I was polite. Explained I had misunderstood. And that we were very unimpressed. I was a little off put when after telling the guy our chips were stale to have him reach over and grab a chip to eat and see. Ok, I was horrified but I’m a germ freak. But he was nice. And apologized. I sat my check up, credit card up to show we were done only to have our waitress totally ignore us. I had to flag a manager down after twenty minutes to get my check taken. Unimpressed is an overstatement.

Several friends and I decided to give the Purple Onion a try despite the reviews, we are starved for good restaurants that serve alcohol in Lonoke county. Our waitress was great, friendly, the food was fast, it was okay food. Not the best or the worst just food. I would return. We ordered the quesadillas, which were okay, a full order was enough for two people to share. The appetizer sampler, had three items and was plenty to share. The chips could have been a lot better. The atmosphere was good for us, the place looked clean and friendly staff. Plan on going back to try something else.

Definitely had some kinks to work out early on but they have gotten it done. CBR quesadilla, fish and chips, shrimp po-boy and fried pickles all done perfectly today. Service was excellent. Glad that I gave it another shot.

Today was my first and last visit here. The parking lot was half empty at lunch time — that should have been the first sign. I ordered the Chicken Alfredo off of the lunch menu, as I love any type of pasta. I was with a friend for lunch today, she had the loaded baked potato soup and the house salad. When our waitress brought out the Alfredo, my friend said«Boy am I glad I didn’t order that!!» It smelled AWFUL. And that was nothing compared to how bad it tasted. I literally only took one bite and almost up chucked. I told my friend to try it and she couldn’t believe how nasty it was either. The waitress asked me if I wanted anything else since I told her I couldn’t eat that, and I told her no I didn’t. That taste ruined the whole lunch experience. She brought us our receipts, and mine was $ 10.85. The waitress stated I could have ordered something to go(I guess to justify why I still had to pay for the puke in a bowl). I paid and left. I can’t believe they have the gall to serve food to customers like that, and then to have nothing other to say than«well you could have ordered something else». My friend nor I will be back, and you can bet we told everyone at work when we got back also. So disappointed.

Cute, new restaurant, & nice friendly server. But they have some kinks to work out, I had to ask for my soup and it was still brought with my meal, I wouldn’t have ordered it if I’d known that. Kitchen was very slow to get food out but again they just opened. Same owner as Fire and Stone which is MUCH better. I’d go back to Purple Onion but I wouldn’t go out of my way just to eat there.

Simply awful. Small portions. Slow service. One steak was raw. Asked fir it to be cooked properly snd it came back burned. The best the manager did was ask for a comment card. Dont waste your money
