The Futrell House is a historic home place in Cadiz Kentucky. Doctor John Futrell and his family lived here for over 40 years. He and his brother started the first hospital in Trigg County. The owners have put up authentic old photographs of the family on the walls, and kept to the Victorian flavor of the place. The rooms are big as are the private bathroom. There is plenty of space for folks to roam around and enjoy themselves. The price to stay here is about the same as most chain hotels, but It is much more quiet and cozy. Breakfast is served at 8:30am. It was fantastic! Eggs, country potatoes, cinnamon bread, and fresh fruit. It is a home cooked meal and absolutely wonderful. I am so glad that I took a chance and booked here. Next time I’ll stay here again. It was a awesome experience.

I had NEVER stayed at a bed & breakfast… until a couple weeks ago when I stayed at the Futrell House! It set the bar high! I travel quite a bit for work, and I had an appointment in Cadiz, KY, at 8:00AM. I wanted to stay as close as possible, since I was driving down the night before and didn’t desire to drive even more the next morning. When I went to book through my office’s travel arrangement website, there were only three options in Cadiz: two motels and the Futrell House. Since the Futrell House was just down the street from where my appointments were and it wasn’t a hotel, I said, «Why not?!» I called that morning to confirm my reservation, and I let Gary, the owner, know approximately what time I’d be in. I ended up being a little early when I arrived that evening, but thankfully, he arrived shortly after I did and showed me the lay of the land. The historic house is on Main Street and is quite gorgeous and well decorated. There are four rooms, I believe, for guests. I was in «The Garden Room»(the first one on your right). Gary showed me to my room, which had a small TV with standard cable, my own bathroom and shower, a desk, a bed, and your other general amenities. He gave me some background on the home and showed me where breakfast would be the next morning. We set a time for breakfast, since I was the only guest that evening. After getting the lay of the land and also his dinner suggestions(I ended up at Ferrell’s for a greasy burger.), he left me to myself but showed me where to go(through the dining room and ringing the doorbell). When it came time for breakfast the next morning, I was in for a TREAT. Gary sure knows how to cook!!! It was a GREAT improvement from hotel breakfasts I have had so frequently. YUM!!! The hospitality, the food, the amenities, the location… This was SUCH a refreshing stay from the typical hotels which I am used to. The Futrell House is currently up for sale however, so if you’re looking to buy, you might reach out to them! Hopefully whoever buys it will keep it open as a b&b, because if I’m needing to stay in the area again, I would happily stay here, and you should too.
