wanted to try out dawn’s because D. M emiled me and recommeded it. Funny, but i think Dawn’s initials are D.M. and DM also hyped up the place with five stars while dissing all the other baked good places in the area. Hey writing your own review is ok, but don’t dis the competition, bad form. So after i found the place(which had moved since I had previously spotted it) the place smelled fantastic. I bought a small cheesecake which was very good and bought an assortment of cookies so I could get a good representation. The cookies tasted like at least day old. I realize that for baked goods(like fish) have to be moved through a store at a good pace so the fresh stuff is always there. Unfortunately I think the baked good consumers in cairo are few and far between and the cookies don’t move like they could. They were pretty, and all, but not the freshest. I would trust one of her cakes for special events because it would probably be made for the occaision and be fresh, but i did not try any. The Best wedding cake i ever ate was from Haartmann’s in Round Top and that will be the standard that every cake will have to exceed in my life time. Never the less, I will be back to keep trying Dawin’s baked good, in order to give a fair review, stay posted. Oh, also pretty pricey, but good baked stuff is expensive, a small about five or six inch diameter cheesecake and a dozen cookies(half dollar size) was sixteen something.
