Mohawk will not stand behind hardwood flooring and carpeting installed in new home in August of 2012. Inspector for flooring was employed by Mohawk. Does anyone other than me find that odd. Carpet replaced 3x finally put down good hardwood. Old hardwood with gouges, splits and uneven joints was also replaced at my cost, as was carpet that was«upgraded» [chuckle chuckle] with hardwood also. You have been warned. Customer service is non existant.

All is well with Mohawk. Solved my claim by replacing carpet at no charge. It took a while but customer service agreed my claim was justified. They followed up to make sure I was happy. Will do business again.

Zero stars! The company sells defective products and refuses to stand behind this crap. We spent over $ 10 k on hardwoods that shrink in the winter and bubble up in the summer. While the company no longer sells the crap we bought, they refuse to do anything for us or the installer. This is a company that takes no responsibility for its product. This company does not care about its customers. This company is not deserving of any of your hard earned money. Buy anything else but Mohawk Products!

We also unjustly had our warranty claim denied by Mohawk Industries. Our builder Renaissance Properties in NJ recommended we purchase the«upgraded» carpet with Scotchgard Stain Release. After less than 1 year in the house(new construction) the carpet looks horrible. We do have 4 children but the carpet should be able to tolerate spills, otherwise I would have gone with wood throughout. We don’t even wear shoes in our house! Mohawk came out to our house, took a piece of carpet from another room for«Testing» and after 6 weeks we received a denial of claim. Note the denial was actually dated soon after they had come out, they just did not bother to send it to us in a timely manner. Prior to contacting the manufacturer we had 3 professional cleaning services come out to attempt to remove the stains. The attempts were unsuccessful and we communicated this to them. Mohawk’s suggestion, have the carpet professionally cleaned-which we had already done and had receipts to prove it. A warranty is only as good as the company behind it and clearly this company should not be purchased from.

I am writing to complain Mohawk unreasonably and unjustifiably denied the defect in a brand new carpet installation a few months ago, though the house had been vacant most of the time since installation. Home Depot(1461 Meadowview Road, Sacramento, CA95832) installed defective carpet from Mohawk(thoroughbred chestnut) in 6848 Starboard Way, Sacramento, CA95831 in Feb 2012. At that time, the property was on sale. It is quite obvious that Home Depot would know that the house was for sale. I made an offer to purchase this property around Feb 22, 2012 and closed the purchase of the property in early April 2012. My tenant moved in mid-May. The tenant is a general contractor with several decades of experiences. He started to complain about the defective carpet just in about three weeks after moving in. My property manager had to come onsite and examined it. When the tenant just vacuumed about 15 square feet area for one minute, there was a big ball of carpet in the vacuum cannister though the canniester was previously empty. In addition, there were lots grey dust in the cannister, which is the glue that was supposed to be holding it together. The tenant complains that the dust is very irritating, impacts his breathing and threatens to move out. I consulted a professional floor installation guy. He said that the most likely cause of the grey dust is due to water damages to the carpet. It is possible that this batch of carpet came from a roll that sat outside and was exposed to heavy rain. It might have been dried off. In the last a few days, both myself, my wife and my property manager raised the defective carpet issue to home depot. When we initially talked to them, they asked if we were the original owner. We were honest and told them that we purchased the house recently. They refused any carpet warranty as there is change of ownership. I called them again without success. My property manager went to the store in person and got a straight cold shoulder. Home Depot insisted that we can escalate the issue to Mohawk and see if they would honor the warranty. Subsequently, I contacted Mohawk, the manufacturer of the carpet, twice. Mohawk immediately refused my request about warranty coverage based on the same reason. They insisted that only Home Depot can open a warranty claim. One person promised to email me information to explain the shedding and glue dust. I still haven’t received any of this information. As I bought the house with brand new carpet installed without anyone ever lived there before my purchase, it is absolutely unfair to void the warranty. In addition, it seems to me that the installation of a defective carpet could have been intentional.
