Our pineapple and coconut shake was sooo good. Thank you! Tourist pricing, present, but not terrible.

This little gem happened while in route back and forth when moving from the Bay Area to Lake County. Calistoga is a great trip for anyone seeking a get-away for the obvious reasons. We happened upon this spot when needing a break or bite to eat. Met with the friendly cook on occasions who happened to be opening, while setting up umbrellas outside or even just opening and prepping kitchen. Food is good and made to your specs. I found it a bit pricey — not taking into consideration, we are talking about Calistoga. What makes it so nice for me is there is a lot of mountainous travel coming from Lake County to the Bay area. Particularly when you’re in Napa County, where Mary’s is located you are in a flat busy little corner of Calistoga, where all cars seem to meet coming from every direction. You should try it out! I will more than likely stop here again and again! Convenient!

Back in the day, this might have been called a «greasy spoon». Stopped by as we were trekking from west to east to get to the I-5. When you are going that direction, there aren’t a lot of choices without sidetracking in to town. On a road trip, you want to keep moving. Which brings us to stopping at Home Plate Café. It wasn’t fast, pretty, inexpensive, or healthy. About the opposite of all of those. The sandwiches /burgers weren’t very memorable, and they sure took a long, long time to come out. The kids were happy with ice cream /milk shake choices. That was the happier part of the meal. Aside from the location being convenient, I’d pass on the rest of the experience.

Going winetasting and wanted to stop for some grub, and came around this place. Best U-turn I made all month. Wasn’t too pricey and had my food ready in 5 minutes. Well worth it. Could use a little updating, but as long as foods good it doesn’t bother me.

Went on a motorcycle ride and got hungry. After people telling us this place was ok for lunch, we stopped in. We ordered a Philly cheesesteak sandwich. You can’t go wrong with an easy peasy sandwich right? Well, evidently you can. Ordering it was a big mistake. There was barely any meat on it, tiny bits of onions, green peppers, hardly any cheese. My husband asked the manager if he could get his money back because it wasn’t tasty and it was not worth what we paid for it. David(the manager) told him, «It is what it is!» He didn’t give us our money back or offer us something else to eat. Disappointing experience. Mary the owner needs to have a talk with her manager David!

Stopped here by chance and got more than we expected. Ordered the chicken wrap sandwich and veggie burger both of which were great. I mean really great… better than some of the fancy places we visited while in Napa. Give this place a shot!

$ 29 for 2 hamburgers, fries & drinks. For that price, you would expect a great burger. WRONG! Only good thing was the bun. There was little meat and a notch above terrible. The fries were good, only thing we enjoyed. Will not return.

We came in as a party of 6 girls on a Batchlorette party. The guys was great, very nice and worked amazing with us. The tritrip sandwich, veggie burger and burgers. Everything came out together and the food was great!

Our rental car broke down while I was turning into the gas station over the road, and it was a pretty hot day so we headed over to Home Plate Café to sit down and make some calls. We only ordered some drinks, but the whole experience was really nice. We sat outside — not the best view as the seats are in the car park facing the road, but they had shade and it was nice to be outside, as inside was a bit stifling — the air conditioning didn’t seem to be working. The service was absolutely lovely. We were served by a young woman who was sympathetic to our plight and couldn’t do enough to help us. My coffee was excellent and my father had a coconut milkshake that was absolutely stunning. It was a welcome port in a storm!

Two things… Overpriced and terrible food. Good ice cream and shakes though. But that’s it.

Stopped in here after a long weekend in Napa with a little spenders remorse. Bought too much Vino(Parador Cellars, Robert Craig Winery, and Flora Springs) some of my favorite wines. Not hard to believe I didn’t want to have another $ 40 lunch. Naturally we stopped into Home Plate Café. Clearly this is not a tourist attraction — it’s a local eatery that serves everything under the sun. Well — it’s a diverse menu. We both ordered the fried chicken 4 piece for about $ 10 bucks. We received 4 crunchy pieces of Chicken, an absolutely delicious homemade buttermilk biscuit, and some French fries. The Fries were okay — probably old oil. The chicken was super crunchy and tasty. It was a great meal for what we ordered, how much it cost, and in this tiny little area north of Calistoga. This is a local eatery, diners and dives type. I liked it — it’s young people working, probably a kid that plays for the local football team, and a couple girls that are friendly enough. For me — I love that atmosphere. This place probably shouldn’t even be reviewed — they’re not in the ‘let’s be reviewed’ business. It’s a local joint that will continue to get business from the locals. I heard one girl say ‘thanks for the ride Uncle _____’. Please don’t go here if you’re dressed up or looking for Espresso, Petit Fours, Hors d’oevres. If you are — you’re lost — go south on 29 and pay for that $ 5 dollar coffee. No seriously — if you go here and order a Veggie Burger, you might be a moron.

This place is sweet. Been here a couple of times and will continue getting my All American Food fix here. It’s a little local hole in the wall place. Their fries are thick, my burger juicy, and the bun was the best I’ve had in the valley. mmm mmm local buns. I recommend this place anyone looking for a tasty lunch, classic side of the road diner style!

Very friendly staff. Ok homemade Veggie Burgers but the fries were burnt and tasted like old oil. The zucchini sticks were better.

I only ordered milkshakes, but I still can’t give over 2 stars. I thought that paying over $ 6 for a(regular-large is over $ 10) shake that it was going to be amazing. My ice cream tasted freezer burned and it was mixed with way too much milk. It took forever. Don’t waste your time, especially based on the other reviews. We should have went to the Arco across the street and would have saved spending $ 19 for 3 shakes.

Nice homey café with patio option. BLT was delish. Fried Zucchini was fresh… Burger was ok. I wanted the chicken Fried steak and eggs but breakfast was over at 11 something on Saturday. Boo. They made fresh chicken pot pies that looked fabulous sitting in window. However, 3 stars bc service was super slow. This is typical for small towns though. Super Comphy and Cozy.

To the owner: The poor quality of my food was not the issue I want an apology for. I would like an apology for the poor service I received at the front counter when ordering. The food somewhere can be less than perfect and I’ll come back to try new things if the service is at least decent. Customer service is one of the most important components of any eating establishment. The woman at the counter didn’t even look at or speak to me. I was very disappointed with this place. It still baffles me that they get as much business as they do. We went in one day while going for a drive and it was incredibly noisy when we walked in, but you can’t do much about that part. The woman at the counter wouldn’t even look at me when I was ordering and didn’t say a word as she jotted down my order. When we sat down and our food arrived, my tri tip sandwich was a thick roll with a small amount of cold, sliced tri tip and nothing else. I asked if they had barbecue sauce and the waitress went over to a cooler and held up a bottle of hot sauce asking if that was right. I said no and drowned my sandwich in ketchup to give it some actual flavor. It was bad enough how expensive the food is and the sandwich just added insult to injury. We are never going back there again. I still can’t believe I left a tip.

It’s a «highway robbery» type place. Kind of out of the way, so they can charge a lot of money for not that much. The inside looks cheaply put together. I ate outside so I didn’t really experience the inside much, except to order. I ended up ordering a burger and«large» fries. The«large» fries were served in a small tray. I don’t even want to know what the«regular» size would be. Burger was okay, slathered in too much sauce.

The food was okay but for the amount you get, it’s actually not that cheap. The employees are friendly but I wouldn’t recommend this place unless you are in a rush and just need a quick, small bite. The items that were pretty good were the grilled cheese and the chicken strips, but you only get two pieces with each order of chicken strips.

On our way home from Safari West, we stopped in for some lunch. The food was ok, but ten dollars for a burger and fries that I can get at home for about six?! The soda was itty bitty. I would have been ok with that, but with no kids menu I was not happy paying full price for a burger my kids were not going to eat much of(of course my daughters; each wanted something different). I am totally ok with paying inflated pricing for food in a touristy location, but I would have expected to pay this much at six flags, and the food would have been better.

I stopped here for a to go order of a couple of muffins during a bike ride through Calistoga. Not too much in the area of take and go type of food so I selected a couple of muffins. They had nice outdoor tables to eat at. When I have more time I would try a burger. This little stand is in a small strip mall. Quick in and out time.
