This store was closed for a while and some new owners bought it and remodeled it for about a year and it just re-opened about a month and a half ago. They did a great job. It’s clean and the owners and employees are very accommodating. They ask all of us locals what would we like to see in the store that they don’t already have. They’ve even posted a white board wish list that has two categories 1. What beer or wine should they carry, and 2. Beer and wine wishes that have been fulfilled. Awesome! I suggested a slushy machine filled with fresh apple cider, like they have at Carlton Farms near Lake Stevens. :) Bright fluorescent drinks are for city folk.

I’ve been by there but the place looks closed. Not sure if it’s a seasonal place only or not.

Who expects a sumptuous albeit small $ 6 smoked brisket sandwich, lean with tangy and not-too-sweet BBQ sauce just North of the Southern tip of Camano Island? Tough choice, that or a pulled pork sammy. Nice surprise, though the savvy shopkeeper knew stokin’ the smoker and scenting the store with sauce in microwave would surely suck a perhaps not-so-innocent bystander in like a frog tonguing a fly-by. If that wasn’t enough, he’s a Texas talker who really knows how to connect equally well with locals and the touristas. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the neighborhood, headed back up the island up the East side if the island. You’ll find it sharing a gravel parking lot with the large corrugated metal studio/workshop for Jack Gunter Art & Design.
