Crystal was very accommodating to my schedule, massaged my scalp like only a gifted stylist can and gave me some good upkeep info. The only thing lacking is air conditioning. It felt like a Georgia summer in the shop. I will be returning soon for a trim.

I just moved here from overseas and looked online for a salon to do my hair. I called and spoke with Tanya and I was booked for later in the week. I love the atmosphere of the shop. The clients as well as the beauticians were friendly. My appointment was quick and thorough. She permed and trimmed and flat ironed at a reasonable price. Being in the military and moving around a lot it’s hard finding someone new who you can trust wholeheartedly with your hair. I was happy with the services provided by Tanya and didn’t mind driving home with the windows down. My hair fell back in place. I would recommend anyone if asked.

I got my hair cut from beyond shoulder length to a bob. I went in not with a specific idea of what I wanted, and Kristal was so patient with me, letting me say, «Ok, shorter over there» or «wait not I don’t want that anymore, I changed my mind, chop it off» etc.
Everyone working there seemed happy, which is a sign of great management.
They do all kinds of coloring, too, and seemed to be ready to take on any hair type and need that walked through the door, including my thick straight mane!
Finally, it was nice to go to a salon and just chat it up with some smart, cool, and funny ladies. I felt welcome and appreciated as a person and a customer.
The right prices, and I tipped more than usual because the customer service was so good. She also trimmed my bangs PERFECTLY… and people always mess them up on me I usually do them myself. Now I don’t have to!
Will definitely be back.

Amazing customer service… first my apologies to this amazing salon. I recently gave a poor review before I even considered speaking to the stylist who did my hair, my braids began to come out within a week, and I unfortunately did not call and assumed they would turn me away or make me repay to fix my hair (like many experiences i have had in the past with other places), so instead i gave a Unilocal review and immediately after I received a call from my stylist apologizing and offering to fix whatever issues i was having with my sew in. I went in and after she explained why my braids began to come out it, it began to make sense and she tried something different that worked much better with my hair type. She was extremely accommodating and apologetic. I would highly recommend this salon they go the extra step to make their customers happy. Thank you Davisha

As an African-​American woman residing in Santa Barbara, finding a local hair dresser that specialized in Black hair was difficult. I used to make the commute to Los Angeles to get my hair done; however, I decided to try a few new people that are closer to Santa Barbara.
After trying several different hair stylist, I am happy to say that I have chosen Tanya Rivera as my new hair stylist. She is professional, on-​time, funny and best of all — she KNOWS what she is doing. If you live in the 805 and are looking for someone to do your hair, she’s your girl!!!

The customer service was good. The prices are cheap and the stylist that did my sew-​in was kind. However, I was not satisfied with the results. The braids were too big, so it made my hair look bulky and unnatural. The braids were not braided tight enough and I have loose tracks, some that have already came undone because they weren’t sew in properly. I’ve never had this issue before out of all my experiences with getting sew-​ins.

Hair stylist and owner of Shear Platinum Stylez Tanya Rivera is heaven sent. Professional and skilled stylist. The salon is centrally located in Camarillo right off the 101 highway. Service is always great and scheduling is flexible and convenient. If you’re in Ventura County and need someone who specializes in African American hair styles this is your place. Highly recommended I give this place 10 stars. There are also other stylist in the salon who are just as skilled. Check it out for yourself.

I got my hair done this past week and needless to say that the service was horrible. I got a relaxer and she burnt my scalp by putting in a lye relaxer and not even basing my scalp correctly. She did no consultation and proceeded to put this harsh relaxer in my head despite the soft texture of mohair type and the fact that i told her that i scratch a lot. she should have known better. I have terrible scabs all over my head and my hair is not even straight. I was unevenly processed and the back of my head is just as nappy as it was when i first waled in there. I have never had my head burnt by any beautician and it is sad that this happened by a person who is supposed to be licensed. I am in the process of disputing the charge with my credit card company to get my money back. do yourself a favor and find someone else.

Tanya is a blessing to have in Ventura Co. where it can be hard to find an African American hair stylist who respects your time. After years of traveling to LA to get my hair done Shear Platinum Stylez is a joy to have in Camarillo. I have never had to wait in line the day I have an appt. Tanya is always on time and very professional. Booking an appointment with her is also very easy and best of all my hair ALWAYS looks great! I have received many compliments since Tanya has been doing my weaves. I will be a longtime client of hers due to her great service, reasonable prices and most of all professionalism. Tanya is a miracle worker! She has been doing my hair for 11 years and never fails to impress. Through all of my hair «phases» she has guided me and it has turned out great. She even saved me when I got a comb stuck in my hair. If you have curly, thick, or wild hair she can do anything you want to it. Her prices are great too!

Today I was able to get a last minute appointment with Davisha (sorry if it’s misspelled) for a braid, and she was amazing. I got exactly what I wanted, and I’m going back in a week. I’m glad I found someone who does a braid with staying power, not to mention it took her like ten minutes! Great job, super happy! Oh and my husband loved it!

) who has been my stylist for about 7 years now. She’s seen me through funky hair colors, bad weaves that have wrecked my hair, especially my edges. She’s seem me through a hair journey that grew my relaxed hair long, then after about less than a year and a half of full weaves, my relaxed ends got cut off and now I have no relaxer.
Almost bra strap length NATURAL hair (when it’s straight). And just got Cali Smooth done, so I’m excited to see what these curls are going to look like!

Cierra was my absolute savior helping my niece managing her hair. Coming from Santa Barbara we don’t have many locations. She put that glow on her face and were looking forward to continued service, thankful for Unilocal and all these great posts!!!

This place is great. Dreina did an amazing job on my color, cut and style. She listened to exactly what I wanted and didn’t push anything extra on me. You can tell that they are certainly interested in the customer being happy. Def gonna go back soon for a new look.

Tonya is the greatest! She was very professional, very outgoing she is just a beautiful spirit. From that first phone call you feel welcomed by her. One of my friends suggested I go to shear platinum stylez after finding out I was having problems finding a stylist. I’m not from around here and was having trouble finding stylists who worked on African american hair. Well I went and I must say I loved my hair. Cierra was my stylist and a very helpful one at that. Aside from having trouble finding a stylist I also didn’t know what kind of hair to purchase because I usually don’t get sew-​ins. She made sure to provide me with the best options of hair that I should buy and she provided me with different price ranges to her knowledge. Love how she took care of my hair. At the end of the day she made sure I was completely satisfied. Will definitely return.

Tanya is my hair’s savior, and has been for years. She does it all, relaxers, natural flat irons, weaves etc. She’s awesome! For whatever kind of hair you have, to whatever kind of style you need, Tanya’s got you!!!

I saw Tanya about two weeks ago for a full sew in and my hair looks and feels great. I have a full sew in with a side part. Appointment was taken on short notice, she did an initial consult to note condition of my hair before weaving. She was punctual, braids are comfortable and not too tight. She did a great job, blending the colors, and follows the wants and needs of her client very well. After two weeks, my hair looks great, my scalp feels good, and I will go back.
