The Amish Cheese Shop is an example of why I love stopping at stores and other attractions off the highway on road trips. The Amish Cheese Shop appears not to be run by the Amish, but it has samples of delicious products, so who cares? The store is full of cheeses and«Amish» spreads. They were out of a positively delicious peanut butter spread that is good enough for me to order. The friendly woman working there took the sample of that product away when she realized they were out, which is great. I bought some cinnamon twists that the employee said tasted just like those from Taco Bell, some sharp cheddar cheese, and a couple of soft caramels. I will definitely stop there again the next time I find myself on Hwy 70 East of Indianapolis. Restroom situation: It’s on the other side of the building and can only be accessed from the outside, like you’re accustomed to at gas stations on road trips.

We stopped off because we support small business and this was a small business specializing in flavored cheeses and jams and breads and pies and sweets. Their business card says they use Amish milk to make their cheeses, so that’s the Amish bit, apparently. We got green onion flavored cheese(very creamy), huckleberry twists, and cherry jam. We also got to try some things like marshmallowed peanut butter and other cheeses of things mixed with cheese. It’s a strange and unusual store but worth a stop and buy something to munch on while you’re on the road. The staff person was very friendly and helpful. This place isn’t wheelchair accessible as far as i could tell. They have a bathroom on the side but very narrow door. Lots of parking and there’s an Amish horse carriage nearby if you want to do a snapshot of yourself with one of these!

This Amish Cheese Shop is not owned or operated by the Amish… I really dont like that. Call yourself a cheese shop then. Its a small shops with many coolers filled with expensive cheese. They also have Amish noodles & cookbooks. In my opion it is not worth getting off of I-70 for.

If you are ever going on 70E from Indy, make a pit stop at this little cheese shop. They have some really good cheese with different mix-ins. If you like spicy cheese(like I do) try the habanero. I also really like their vidalia onion cheese. The staff is super friendly! Upon our request, they cut down the cheese to ¼ lb blocks. They have a ton of different jellies(jams) in some interesting combinations — strawberry jalapeño and blueberry gooseberry to name a few. We have enough jelly in our pantry so we didn’t buy any of them but if we are on I-70 again we will definitely stop by to pick up a jar.

Meh, it was ok. I guess my expectations were a little too high. The billboards made it seem like it was this huge place. The store was smaller than I thought, it appears the store used to be an old gas station. The employee was pretty rough looking(stringy hair, poorly inked tattoos, not the friendliest) and the selection wasn’t great. The marble cheese was decent and chocolate chip cookies were good.

They seem to be of a mind that the difference between good cheese and great cheese is what flavorings you mix into it(like horseradish, pepper, or onion). If that’s your thing, have at it! Very friendly, very attentive. The merchandise is mostly themed around dairy products with stuff mixed into them. More of a snack shop specializing in cheese than a cheese shop. As a cheese snob, this gives me very little reason to return, but if you’re interested in supporting a local business and are interested in eating flavored cheese, you might enjoy this business.

A fantastic little Amish shop! Do not pass it up as just another tourist attraction. They have a huge selection of cheeses, all of which you can sample. In the summer, they have a broad selection of fruit pies including sweet(sorry, not sour) cherry, blackberry, apple, peach, blueberry, and rhubarb. I bought a rhubarb pie for $ 9 and was pleasantly surprised by a rich, flavorful and satisfying, crisp pastry and a marvelously tart yet sweet rhubarb filing exhibiting tender rhubarb in a very clean tasting, perfectly thickened juice.(I ate it on my lap – don’t judge – up in the front seat of the car as I fed the driver spoonfuls.) Accepts credit cards, including Discover. There is a $ 10 minimum for credit card purchases.

We stopped here on a whim on the way back from Ohio. The best part about this place is that you can try absolutely everything they have for sale, from the many varieties of Amish cheese to the jams and jellies to the peanut brittle, and even locally-made hand lotion. I bought something called F.R.O.G. jam, which I’d never heard of before. It’s made with figs, raspberries, oranges, and ginger(hence the F.R.O.G.) and it’s delicious. And it was only $ 6.50 for a big jar.
