Called them over the phone. Quoted me $ 150 for a $ 15 service. When I mentioned it was $ 15 at Home Depot, the guy started lying to me.

Beware. THis company came broke a lock that wasn’t broken to begin with, said they had to order part to fix. Didn’t come back twice. Do not deal with them. I am contacting the attorney general.

This company is a complete scam. The dispatcher gave me a quote of $ 49.00. The locksmith arrived and proceeded to tell me that it would cost $ 150 to get into my apartment. I thought that was still outrageous but I was desperate to get in right away. I told him that I would not pay anymore than that. He let me in and gives me a bill for $ 400! I was alone with him in my apartment so I was afraid and started crying. I paid it and called their customer service. I was connected with a manager who was extremely rude and would not refund me any of the money. I even offered to pay $ 200(which is still ridiculous). I have not experienced this type of scam. Do not use this company.

I’d prefer to give them negative stars, but that isn’t possible on Unilocal. Locked out of my unit, I gave them a call late on a Friday night. Dispatcher said that it would be $ 30. to send someone out and a min of $ 40. for the service. $ 70. min was fine, and I thought at most it would be double at $ 140. Guy comes out, gives an Oscar worthy performance on how hard my door was to open(Seriously? Only the doorknob lock). He used an electric pick gun, and not very well I might add. Maybe that was just part of the act – to make it look difficult so he could jack up the bill. I could have bumped the lock myself if I had my toolbox inside my unit. He finally resorts to airbags and brute force with a screw driver. On the upshot, he does get it open, but only after seriously damaging the door, the frame, and the lock. It barely locks now and has to be leaned into to fully close. He then turns around and says $ 310. It was about 15 minutes of actual work. Had I known it was going to be that expensive, I would have gotten a $ 200. hotel room and waited until the super was available the next day. These guys are preying on the fact that you are helpless. Total scam that it was that expensive after being quoted such a low minimum. $ 280.($ 310-$ 30. dispatch fee.) for 15 minutes of work is robbery. Granted it was 11pm on a Friday, but even if you factor in local travel and double time for the weekend after-hours, it is still an insane hourly rate. At the very least, they should be required to give you an onsite quote before starting work. That’s the whole point for the $ 30. dispatch fee – meaning they are covered even if you decline the job and they don’t do anything. I have locksmith subcontractors at work, so I am quite familiar with techniques and hardware. I just wish my subs were available instead of these guys. One very painful lesson learned I guess. Don’t forget your keys!

Make sure you settle a price with them on the phone before they dispatch a technician. Don’t agree to a floating price of «$ 40 and above,» because they will take advantage of your vulnerable position and jack it up five-fold.
