Atomic Meatloaf Meltdown is incredible. Very spicy but awesome if you’re into that. Haven’t had anything else but that’s one of the best sandwiches I’ve had in Boston

Meh. It’s ok. Had a turkey club $ 11, fries $ 5, soda(watered down) $ 2.50. Portions were large, bread toasted so hard it was sawing the roof of my mouth when I tried to chew. Had some gristle in my sandwich. Could have used some more mayo. Taste was fine but nothing amazing. Service was good. Would I eat here again? Probably not.

Came here for the first time, emboldened by consistently good reviews. In the mood for a beefy sandwich, I went for the atomic meltdown sandwich. A hearty slice of grilled meatloaf sits atop melted cheese, and is spread with a sweet red onion jam. I got my inner beauty hot sauce on the side, so I could control my preferred level of heat. The meatloaf: crispy on the outside, juicy and flavorful inside. A good match for the crispy sourdough, which softens just a bit with the juices. The onion jam: quite sweet on it’s own, but very nice in the context of the sandwich. The hot sauce: more heat than I’m used to, but flavor isn’t sacrificed for pure spice. I’m glad I got it on the side, so I could spread on however much I wanted. The sandwich came with coleslaw and a pickle; coleslaw was tangy and sightly sweet, and the pickle was sour and crisp. All in all, this meal cost $ 11 before tip. The service was great as well; quick, and the server was very pleasant. If you’re in the area, I recommend All Star for a good sandwich!

Sandwiches for $ 12?! This place isn’t cheap, but it’s delicious. I love their Extra Funky sandwiches. But be warned, the sandwiches are messy and juicy. Get a stack of napkins.

I just want to be honest… this isn’t really a 5 star place! My feeling are that it is 4.5 stars. Food selection –Island Jerk Chicken Melt –Falafel +Bonus+ Cole slaw Feelings on the food — Chicken Melt, it is so good. It has the perfect blend of heat and sweet. The only issue I had with it was with take out the bread was soggy. It is expected it was a 20 min drive back. — Falafel, my girlfriend said it was great. — Cole slaw, girlfriend said it is the best cole slaw other than a seafood joint in Maine. Overall 4,5/5 — It would be a def 5⁄5 if you sit down and eat there — the fact it was take out makes it 4.5÷5

Great sandwiches. Expensive for a sandwich though. They have free oreos at the counter which is pretty cool.

This place rules. Their sandwiches rule. Their beer rules. Their mojo rules. It just rules. Their Rueben and Cubano sandwiches rule in particular. Their Rueben gives even the greasiest, most authentic NY Jewish deli a run for its money, and I aver – at the risk of committing blasphemy – that their Cuban is at least as good as El Oriental’s. To sum up: This place rules.

All stars for the Mr. Miyagi and hell fries — if they could make the rest of their menu items this good, they’d be getting all 5 stars, but too bad… they just fell short. Gobbler — One of my fave sandwiches of all time. It just wasn’t a very flavorful sandwich. Almost bland — and the bread choice could be better. Stuffing wasn’t flavorful or well portioned in proportion to turkey. The cranberry-orange preserve was too sour. Wouldn’t get it again. Latin turkey ALT — This was a semi healthy alternative to BLT that I enjoyed. Not a bad choice. Good amount of turkey and avocado. Cubano — Unimpressive and could use more flavor. They could do more with the pork, it was sort of dry and flavorless. If you want a solid cubano, go two blocks down to Bom Café! Cheesy fries — sort of lame. Should have opted for Hell fries or any other fries! The cheese was solid and plastic like — not a great texture for fries! Mr. Miyagi — PERFECTION. Messy. bring on dem wet naps! Hell fries — These hot hot fries will wreak havoc on your mouth in an addictive way, just try not to touch your face or eyes after downing these! SOGOOD. After a certain time in the evening, they’ll only do takeout. Service isn’t too bad. Not a bad place to get sandwiches — it seems like the sandwiches that are slathered in sauces would be the best choices!

What did I love most about working in Inman Square? The food. Figures I discover this great lunch option during my last week working in Cambridge. All– Star is a step above most average sub shops with a unique menu containing a wide variety of sandwich options. This is both a pro and a con, however. The menu sat in my desk drawer and I glanced at it many times before finally placing an order this week. I found it a bit overwhelming with so many unusual choices. I knew I would have to step outside my turkey club safety zone and take a walk on the wild side. My boss had always been a fan of the Veggie Cubano and shared half of it with me one day prior to my first order. It was delicious and piqued my interest in All Star. The menu consists of some light, vegetarian options as well as some heartier options such as burgers with fries. I placed my first order this past Thursday and the pulled pork was the sandwich of the day. I couldn’t resist. The little restaurant is brightly colored inside and trendy. There are a few tables with servers if you plan to dine in. The guy behind the counter had taken my order over the phone and I believe he said his name was Mitch. He was extremely friendly and I felt very welcomed. I’m a sucker for a big personality and he was very cute too I must say.(Yes, I really did just say that out loud). Again, I was kicking myself for not ordering here sooner. I arrived back at the office with a very large and delicious sandwich. The pork was cooked well and very tender. My only complaint was the bun was soggy. Of course I know this happens sometimes with pulled pork, but soggy buns are not very appetizing. Nevertheless, I enjoyed my sandwich and even ate cole slaw for the first time! I’m not a big cole slaw fan, but there was some on the sandwich and I actually enjoyed it. Their cole slaw, I believe, comes on the side of most of their sandwiches and it is good stuff. My boss bought us lunch for my last day at the office and we actually went back to All-Star — yes two days in a row! I opted for The Wilson the next day — large pieces of buffalo chicken on a roll with ranch dressing on the side. Very good, but keep in mind the buffalo sauce does have quite a little kick to it. I will miss you All– Star as my new office is much further away, but will remember you next time I’m back in the inman Square area.

Love this place! The sandwiches are awesome and huuuuge. The last time I went I had the fish po boy and probably would have been fine splitting it with the person I was with(along with the onion rings we ordered)! If you can eat there, I def recommend it– I feel the hot sandwiches taste better instead of taking them home for takeout(as with any sandwich). Also– free Oreos at the counter? Um yes please.

Really good sandwiches and great service! I ordered take out from them on a Sunday and they had my food ready for me in 15 minutes, the sandwich was awesome and I got a side of mac and cheese which was also really good. You can also sit and eat, they serve beer and really yummy sangria. Great place to grab a sandwich and a drink, would definitely recommend.

The Brussel Sprouts with Thai peanut BBQ sauce is absolutely amazing! It’s not always on the menu, but when it is it’s worth tasting.

I usually don’t like to write reviews for businesses that already have hundreds of ratings: what more can I add that 500 people haven’t already said? However, I feel like I’ve grown up with ASSB since they opened in 2006. Whenever I eat here, I get the feeling that the owners really care about their customers, even after the expansion to All Star Pizza Bar across the way. And as much as I adored the Latin Lover salad(RIP), I have to commend them for updating their menu. Old favorites like the beef on weck(the best outside of Buffalo!) and the gobbler(good, but cranberry-orange flavor is a little overpowering) now coexist with new additions like the island jerk chicken melt(messy, but SO good!) and Mr. Miyagi bahn mi(satisfying, but not as much flavor as I was expecting). And then there’s the things that will never change, like the crunchy pickles, free oreos, and perfect Arnold Palmers. I normally eschew coleslaw, but here it’s relatively light and acidic, not loaded down with too much mayo. The hand-cut fries($ 5 for a big plate) are not too thick, not too thin, and always come with plenty of coarse salt. And their burgers are HUGE and come with plenty of those delicious fries. As others have emphasized, it’s important to scour the specials menu whenever you come here. Don’t be afraid to go for the funky or extra funky! Also, I’ve had some of the best vegetarian meals I’ve ever had here. Even though the staff here skews young and hip, they’ve always been polite and prompt. Basically, what I’m trying to say is, All Star Sandwich Bar can have my food baby any day.

Try saying All-Star Sandwich Bar in Bostonese, and you’ll know why I’ve been excited to try this place out. From the exterior, it seems like one of those townie haunts that are worth a visit. When I got inside, I saw that judgement couldn’t be farther from true, it was instead a hipster sammich joint. I decided to sit down alone, which didn’t play in my favor at all. The waiter all but ignored me in lieu of his bigger tables. When it came time to pay he didn’t come over, so I tried to bring it up to the register and the cashier said I had to give it to the waiter. So, basically, I shaved minutes off my day because of the server’s inefficiency to delegate his attention. The reason they get three stars is strictly for the food. The Latin Turkey ALT was a nice size, and very tasty. Kind of feels like what Panera should be, ya know? If I were to come back I’d probably want to try the poutine, since it passed me twice and got yummier looking each time.

I just recently discovered this place & only because I have been to All-Star pizza across the street. They didn’t have pizza slices we wanted so we came here instead. Well my goodness they certainly have some kick-ass sandwiches on their menu. I was super excited to see hush puppies on the menu so ordered some but actually not digging them at all. I think they need to have a bigger more expanded veg*n menu the way All Star pizza has.

So far not too impressed. I got the cubano sandwich and it was dry, dry, DRY. I actually had to have a sip of water between each bite, it was that dry. And let me tell you, I had just moved two people’s apartments in two days and this was my lunch one of those days, so I was starving and my standards were low. The bread was decent but I wasn’t blown away by anything, and it was pretty expensive as far as sandwiches go. I think it was about $ 13 for one sandwich and a bag of chips. On the plus side, it was very generously sized, and the employees were pretty friendly so I wouldn’t reject the idea of going back and trying something else. The BF also liked his BLT a lot, so I’m getting the feeling that I maybe just ordered the wrong thing.

I have gone by here a 100 times and never stopped in because of the name. Places with names like«All Star» or signs that make the say«the best» make me think that they’re not. It gives me the same feeling as a used car salesman saying«trust me». But I was waaaay wrong! The sandwiches awesome culinary masterpieces — and not small. They have beer wine and sangria too! They also have table service. Just loved it! I almost gave the 5 stars, but I have to reserve 5 for places I would go out of my way for. This place is really close and I can’t wait to go back. If I could give 4.5 stars I would. Do yourself a favor and stop by if you are in the neighborhood.

I’m a huge fan of All Star Sandwich Bar, and for good reason: they make some of the best sandwiches in Boston/Cambridge. It’s gotta be tough to carve out a niche amongst the tough restaurant competition in Inman Square, but All Star has done it, and done it well. They have a huge menu of sandwiches available, including burgers, cold cuts, hot sandwiches, and vegetarian options. You can find down-home staples right next to globally-inspired experiments, and it’s all delicious. One of their staples is the atomic meatloaf, which is great. Thick, crusty, toasted bread is topped with a thick slab of griddled meatloaf, carmelized onions, and hot sauce. It’s a handful and a mouthful, and it’s great. Not for the faint of heart or the spicy-averse. They’ve also got a bomb Cuban, legendary chili that I’ve yet to try, and apparently they make a mean banh mi. But if you don’t need the frills, you can cozy up to a stacked roast turkey sammy and it’ll be the best you’ve ever had. Sides are great, too. Hush puppies, poutine, cheese fries, slaw, pickles. They’re all good. I loved the poutine. All Star pulls it off well, and it’s easy to screw up poutine now that every restaurant is trying to do a version of it. Go there, pray there isn’t a long line(which there might very well be), and stuff your face with a fat kid sandwich.

Here is how I assume most people’s first impression of this place goes: «Hmm, $ 12 for a sandwich? I don’t know, seems kinda high… [five minutes pass] …I’ve been waiting awhile now… [five more minutes pass, sandwich arrives] Whoa. That is a masterful sando.» So yes, the price can be a little hard on the pocketses. But wow! What sandwiches! These folks really know what they’re doing. Not only the sandwiches, but the salads, the fries, and the chili! I love every single one of these things! Some highlights: hot damn, that poutine! I assumed it would be a small serving, but it is NOT. It is in no way a small serving. You might not even need a sandwich if you’re eating the poutine on your own! The Latin Lover salad just begs to be heartily crammed in one sitting. It is so so tasty. The dressing is great, and I love the added touch of freshly roasted corn. Now, some people have been talking smack on the chili. I am not one of them! There is brisket in this chili, and it is hearty and delicious and I wish I had some right now. These folks are sandwich artisans! If you’re getting take-out, pro-tip: call ahead. It’ll cut down your time awkwardly standing in all the wrong places(there’s no right place to stand!). Extra points for playing funny TV shows. This was the first place I saw Broad City!
