Dr. Nineberg has saved my life on many occasions.
I started seeing him almost 20 years ago when I was going through a very deep withdrawal with depression and anxiety. I’ll never forget what he said to me on those many occasions I was in his office.

I clung to those words with all the strength I could muster and the belief that this man could help me. Since then he has seen the best and worst of me and went out of his way to help me every time.
Contrary to another review, I have experienced the man at his most compassionate and caring — he really gives a crap, unlike one or two shrinks that I’ve had the unfortunate experience of working with.

Dr. Allan Nineberg is a psychiatry and neurology specialist with a private practice in Cambridge. I have been seeing him for my complicated psychopharmacology needs for a year and I have found him to be extraordinarily competent and experienced. He is very good at weighing the side effects of medications and finding a balance of neuro/​psych meds that will work for you. He is not a counselor, and I would definitely recommend having a solid relationship with a mental health professional prior to working out your med cocktail with Dr. Nineberg, as he isn’t a warm fuzzy counseling type, he is all science all the time, which is what I prefer in my meds doctor. Dr. Nineberg has been very effective in establishing and balancing my meds so if that is what you are looking for he is an excellent resource. Nineberg will set up regular appointments to monitor your progress and adjust your levels, he is very attentive. I would advise that he is very strict about paying for missing appointments, so be sure you have your schedule written down.
