Atwood’s Tavern

Loved the stuffed mushrooms! However, lack of attentive service and frankly, rudest wait staff I have experienced in any restaurant in a long time make me want to avoid returning. The bartender and some of the waitresses were super friendly — however, the ones that were rude overshadowed the kinder folks with a cloud of attitude and disgust for «people» actually being in their restaurant. The food is delicious and slightly makes up for the service, but you can find amazing eats in so many other spots nearby that actually care about having you as a customer. I don’t think the people working at this bar understand that customers pay their salary and overhead to keep this place open.

After having received terribly rude and abusive service at this facility proceeded to black mail me into taking down the my previous Unilocal review and since nothing has changed and they haven’t taken responsibility for their terrible service or admitted to the fact that they need make sure that their staff don’t put their hands on customers i guess black mailing is just another crime that is in need of reporting to the local authorities.

This is such a great spot. We have heard from friends that this is a must go place. I got the veggie burger (amazing) and my bf got a meat burger and said it was great! We love beer and there was a decent selection. The service is great and the whole atmosphere had a good vibe. Definitely coming back :)

I came here mainly for their outdoor seating but it was way too popular on a Saturday night. In the beginning they told us that it would be 20 – 30 minutes wait. But after about 1.5 hour wait, we were still not assigned a table outside. Very disappointed.
The food tastes good and healthy. The chicken tostada and pulled pork sandwich are pretty good.
The service is slow and the waiter is not attentive. I think they are a little understaffed. Within the bar, it’s super noisy. Pretty much you have to yell in order to be heard.

Nachos were amazing. Service was fantastic. Highly recommend for bar hopping probably the best stop so far. The beers tasted amazing don’t sneak past this one.

The service is just ok. They are nice but VERY SLOW. The food is phenomenal. I had the pulled pork sandwiches with fries. They are the BEST fries ever. Such a great place for a good beer from anywhere in the world!

Called to get takeout late at night, as everything else was closed. The person on the phone (the bartender) was really rude. I found an online menu, he said the item I ordered they never longer have, as I probably found an old menu. When I asked what they had, he told me to go back online and look for a new menu! I wanted to hang up but was out of food options. The food, some kind of Mediterranean stew, was overpriced and packaged so poorly that it had no liquid by the time I got home.

Never been to this place before but walk by it all the time. If I could give it 3 ½ I would though. We went for breakfast/​brunch and sadly do not remember the name of the dish I got. What I can tell you is that it had eggs, sausage, home fries and a sauteed tomato salad. Overall the dish was quite tasty. It was a little annoying they only offered their eggs scrambled so it was that or no eggs. Made you think that they just make a big batch of scrambled eggs in the back which could go either way. Luckily we went early so we felt if the eggs were cooked in a batch at least it was a fresh batch. The sausage was very tasty but the home fries were just home fries and tomato salad was just that too, could have used some salt for sure. The place was clean and the server was friendly enough. We will probably go back again some time for lunch or dinner.
Overall nothing exciting about this place but the food was decent enough to give it another go. But as always never take my word on it and try it yourself.

A friend and I had stumbled upon this place accidentally one day. We had left a different restaurant down the street due to lack of service. We got beer and burgers. This place has a great beer selection, customizable burgers… it’s awesome. BEST burger I have ever had. We sat at the bar, but this place has an awesome patio outside that would be perfect on a warm day with some friends.

Surprisingly delicious salad. :-) Great ambiance. Friendly bartenders. Great beer selection. Can’t beat it!

One of my favorite bars in Cambridge. The food is also pretty good. The pork belly with cheesy grits is delicious also the mussels with french fries are to die for! They also have a good selection of beers and live music.

Strolling around Cambridge on a beautiful summer day, and you will find this place almost hidden in the heart of Cambridge. I used to come up here all the time to study and found the place to be an incredible getaway during the day to enjoy the sun, fresh air, and some alone time. The patio overlooks parts of Cambridge, and with its wooden floor and delicious lemonade makes it one of my top choice when I visit. For eating I have only had the Hot N’ Healthy Bowl, just threw all together and made a great little meal.
If you are into music, this place supposedly turns into a music venue in the weekends, so if you are around for that, I heard that they support a lot of local artists.
As summer is hopefully coming soon, throwing on some shades and hanging out on the patio would most definitely be a great way to spend the day!

not sure why i have never given this place kudos; i come here as often as possible and love it every time. aside from the ongoing, great live music and soothing, dark atmosphere, the food at atwood’s is fresh and flavorful. i have loved everything i have ever ordered. the mac n cheese is superb with firm noodles, creamy texture, and perfect seasoning. the pork belly, the pork chop, and the bratwurst are to die for. all accompaniments are unique and superior as well.
service at atwood’s is down-​to-​earth and experienced. liam, the resident bartender, is an entertaining smart-​ass and worthy of his domain. in fact, the lifespan of every good, knowledgeable server at atwood’s reflects good business overall.
major footnote: smuttynose pours better at this bar than anywhere else… cheers!

I really love Atwood’s, and I think it may be my boyfriend’s absolute favorite bar in Cambridge. Bar staff is pretty regular, which mean they remember you, which is super great. The live music is always good — the cover is usually worth it in my opinion.
Everything I’ve eaten has been good — burger, Mediterranean plate, fish tacos, pork belly, and on and on. House wine is cheeeeeeap and very drinkable, and the beer list is good.
The very best thing about Atwood’s? Its outdoor patio, which is all reclaimed wood, globe lighting and industrial fixtures. So nice to have dinner out there in the summer.

I love love loved this place. First time here and this will not be my last visit. I love the vibe, the beer selection, and the menu. I had a few local craft beers that I have never tasted before and they were phenomenal. For dinner I had the black bean veggie burger which was really good. Sometimes you can get a very flimsy looking veggie burger which falls apart with every bite. Not this one. It was hearty and super filling. I also enjoyed the red cabbage slaw side. The sauce was amazing.
I will be visiting Atwood’s again soon. One side note… If you plan on grabbing dinner and having a nice get together with friends do so before 8PM on a Friday or Saturday night. They always have local bands on the weekends which is awesome but they stop taking food orders at 8:30 at the high tops near the stage and move all tables in this area at 9 PM. Just a heads up!
It’s located right outside of Inman so I NEVER have trouble finding street parking in this area.

1. Their lemonade is fresh made and it’s the best I’ve ever had. And I’ve had a lot of lemonade.
2. The service and atmosphere are both great. Service was friendly and fast, the atmosphere was dark-​ish and lively but not rowdy, and very clean.
3. The food was about par for the course. The nachos have a ton of cheese on them and not much else, just a few jalapenos and a couple small cups of pico. Get some beans and salsa up in here!
I also had the Hot N’ Healthy Bowl, which is «Stewed Puy Lentils, Curried Chickpeas, Wilted Spinach, Broccoli, Pepitas» The chickpeas were very flavorful and I just mixed the whole thing up into a yummy, but very healthy-​tasting mishmash. I would get it again, but I’m not raving about it.
Would definitely go back because I like the atmosphere and the prices weren’t bad, but I wasn’t overly impressed by the food.

Luke warm about Atwoods. Not excited about their heavy covers every day except Monday… food is good but needs to be changed up a bit more.
Beer selection is awesome. Bartenders can be great or snooty depending on who is there. I’m a local (real local, as in many generations in the area) and don’t always feel it’s a welcoming place if you’re not a part of the new ‘local east Cambridge hipster’ish’ crowd.
I love bluegrass Mondays!

Bar fish tacos? Yes, please. So yummy and so cheap! Good selection of cider and whiskey here too.

Great place for day drinking — delicious Citizen cranberry cider when they have it in season. And yummy gluten free beer options as well. My favorite is the taza chocolate pudding — SO GOOD! Always a friendly atmosphere. Haven’t really stayed for the music though.
Nice outdoor yard as well.

Just popped in on our walk from Lord Hobo to Somerville Brewery. It’s raining & breezy & they have the doors & windows open. Outstanding vibe here. People of all ages, music is nice & at a perfect volume. Beer list is way, way above average. Finely curated. The lovely lass behind the bar was hospitality itself (there when needed with a smile, chatting up patrons as required, but not overly present. Lovely).

Quoted recently, following a moment of genuine realization: «You know what, I really love this place.»
All the pros stand true, and with every subsequent visit, I came to note there are very few things to dislike about Atwood’s. Capital quality from the kitchen, ditto at the taps (and oh my, that variety), and I still hold that the staff here are some of the most outwardly enthusiastic, hilarious and engaging in the industry.
Pair it all with a back patio fit for spring weather, and I may never explore another bar in the area.

I love Atwoods so much that I don’t want to write a review for it because I want to keep it all to myself.
The patio in the back is absolutely beautiful. It’s one of my favorite places to spend a weekend afternoon.
The food is great. I’ve had the veggie burger, sweet potato fries, the amazing red cabbage coleslaw, the cheese plate, mediterranean plate, the stir fry, and the fish tacos. Everything is consistently good.
Their beer list is stellar– they always have something that I like, and sometimes they get random gems like Troublesome Gose or MBC’s lunch.
Service at the bar is awesome, and service at the tables indoor and outdoor is always good too.
BLUEGRASS MONDAYS! YES!!!
