Worst Indian food I’ve ever had, and the worst service. I got the chicken and veggie plate and an order of naan. I stood around waiting for the naan for almost 25 minutes. They put it in the heater but just forgot about it even with me standing there in front of the register. I had to ask for them to remember. After getting all of the food and eating it, it was horrible. It all tasted bitter and the chicken and veggie dish tasted the same. The naan was not like any type of naan I’ve ever had before, very thick and bland. Although the amount of food was large, it was pretty bad.

Meh indeed. Obviously this place is flooded with students looking for cheap food, so for around $ 7 you can get a decent sized lunch serving. It’s nothing special, but will get the job done. I can’t really describe it much more than that, just not-too-flavorful indian food.

The food looked fairly appetizing in the display but even my extreme hunger couldn’t mask the lackluster meal I was served: mushy rice, bland chickpea masala and flavorless eggplant. Oh, and a side of hair. Yes, HAIR. Two different strands to be exact. Do yourself a favor and walk a few steps over to Shawarma Shack-they actually care about cleanliness the quality of their food there.

I bought this from tedeschi. for a packed indian food, I would say its fresh, tastes good. Of course you cant expect to taste like a food in a high quality authentic indian restaurant. For the price of 5.49 $ its a decent choice. Only thing to complaint was the rice is little under cooked but the chicken part taste decent.

So bland. Indian food without spice is always such a disappointment. Expensive, too. Those of you visiting/going to MIT, don’t get the Indian at the food court.

Six months ago, this place was great – complex, interesting spicing. But the last few months it’s turned blah, everything tastes pretty much the same as everything else. I used to go once a week or so, but now I’m down to once a month or less, hoping they get back up to snuff.

Bland, bland, bland. I had the vegetarian special of the day– potatoes and green peppers in a coconut sauce with yellow rice and a potato somosa. The somosa was decent but the rice and entrée were lacking in flavor. When I asked for hot sauce I was given what I believe was basil aioli, which was delicious, but not spicy. I’ll be sticking with Anna’s.

I don’t know if it’s just because I often come here starving, but the chicken dishes here always taste delicious. The flavors remind me of home(I grew up eating Indian food) I’ve also gotten the chana masala, and that was also pretty delish. I did not like the brown rice as much as I hoped I would. PS: you’ll probably have leftovers if you are like me, so try to split with someone if you can. PPS: the meat is halal, and to me that always tastes better(could be psychological I suppose)

The veggie paneer was pretty good, but everything else, including the rice was very average. The rice was a bit overcooked. The naan is not even naan which is very disappointing. It’s like the dry pizza crust from a lunchables box.

Went to CS on my lunch break today. The Japanese place doesn’t take credit cards(I could have sworn I used my credit card when I went there… in May), and CS did not have a line. I had the Chicken Tikka Masala with white rice(I should have tried the yellow rice, but I was in a hurry and she said, ‘white rice’ and I automatically said yes as if I lost all ability to make a choice). I’ll probably come back and try something different. Glad I tried it!

This place is not worth it. I think it’s the worst restaurant at Lobdell, and there are all these Indian buffets that are within 10 minutes(walking), taste better, and cost an extra dollar. Main offenses: 1) The naan. The naan at Café Spice is more like a huge chunk of pizza crust. It is not naan. 2) Samosas suck. It’s hard to mess up samosas, since the deep fryer hides lots of imperfections but Café Spice does it. 3) Nothing here is good. I’m willing to forgive restaurants that might suck at a lot of things, but still make like two things well. I’ll just order those two things. Nothing here is good. A plus side to it’s general crappniess is that there’s rarely a long line.

Café Spice is one of 4 choices at the Lobdell Food Court in the MIT student center. Out of the few choices in the student center, I eat Café Spice most often. Why? Is it the most delicious food in the student center? Is it dirt cheap? Do I have a crush on someone that works there? Not really, although the food is ok, it’s not too expensive, and a lady that works there does hook me up with stuff. I usually just go because there’s very rarely a line. And it moves pretty fast if there is. Instead of waiting 10 minutes for Teriyaki, Subway, Anna’s, Sepal, or LV’s, I just walk straight to Café Spice and I get my lunch instantly. I’ve heard people complain that it’s not that good and it’s really commercialized Americanized Indian food, but so are all the other choices in the student center. You can’t go wrong with the Chicken Tikka Masala. The chicken is always white breast meat, and if it is dry, it’s not that noticable as it’s covered in Tikka Masala sauce, which tastes aite. I’d even say it tastes better than the teriyaki at Shinkanshen. I usually get the Saag Paneer as my vegetable dish in the combo, unless the Dal Makhani is available. The Dal Makhani is actually pretty good, if you like lentils. Café Spice has a buy 8, get the 9th combo free card too! Great for people who eat there all the time like me. At $ 6 a combo, including a soda, Café Spice is not a bad deal. It’s cheaper than Subway. So when in the Stratton Student Center(W20), Café Spice is my choice for the quickest possible acceptable meal.
