Received great customer service from Cambridge Electrical Contractors. I appreciated that they let me know when they were 15 minutes away. We called them because we thought we had an electrical issue with our exhaust fan, but it turns out there was just a mechanical problem. He still fixed the problem quickly and was great to work with.

One of the best contractors I have ever used. Dan is defendable, trustworthy, punctual. He did an excellent job for fixing the lighting and fixtures at my basement in Somerville. His price was very reasonable. If I have similar projects, I will go to Dan in a heartbeat !

My husband and I used them to put some new lighting in our kitchen and nursery and they were great. With that being said, my husband has reached out to them several times since then and at first we heard nothing then we were told they would call us back on a certain day and we have heard nothing, it’s been over two weeks. It’s unfortunate that they are so unreliable because they do great work.

I live close to Inman square. I called Cambridge Contractors today (Saturday, 1 pm) because my fridge wasn’t working since last night, and two of my kitchen power outlets had stopped working as well starting today morning. I left them a voicemail, and Dan (the owner) called me back within 10 minutes. Dan and his son showed up at my house within 20 minutes of that call. Dan is patient, courteous, and knowledgeable, and his son Michael energetic, and helpful — quite a father and son pair! They found the problem was that I didn’t reset the circuit breaker properly, and were able to get all the appliances to come alive. They marked up the circuit breakers for each major appliance, Michael helped reset the clocks on the oven and the microwave, and they left. Dan also inspected a wiring I need done in the living room, and said he would be able to schedule that in 2 weeks or so. They left within 10 minutes. Saved my Saturday, and lots of food that would otherwise be rotting soon. They didn’t charge me a penny. Their number is certainly going into my phone book.

I called Cambridge Electrical Contractors to line up work for a homeowner I was working for and I spoke with Dan, the company owner, and was given a realistic timeline to schedule work. He was very upfront with his schedule and was flexible enough to get me scheduled within two weeks despite being very busy.
Dan and Umberto arrived at the home and made quick work of my job, installing a new breaker and hooking up a dedicated line to a new microwave/​range vent.
Very polite and professional. And as mentioned in other reviews the rates are very fair and the work is top notch!
I highly recommend Cambridge Electrical Contractors.

Talked to the owner and scheduled them to come out and quote on a $ 30k house rewiring job located only a couple of miles from their company. Guess business must be good as they never showed up and never called back.

It’s saturday and Dan and his son just left my place. Earlier I had been trying to hang an old mid century lamp in my kitchen when there was a bright flash, a loud pop, and the whole place went dark. I thought I had turned off the electricity for the kitchen but the place was built in the 1900s and previous owners had done some re-​wiring so clearly I was wrong. So I checked the sub box in my unit, and everything was in the on position. Same thing with the main box in the basement. And so I had reached the end of my expertise on the subject.
Enter Cambridge Electrical Contractors. I found them here on Unilocal,called the number and Dan picked up. He was at another call and said he would be over in a bit. In my experience (with cat sitters, with AAA, with pizza delivery) this means at least half an hour, more often longer. So I started killing time, only before I knew it they were downstairs. They were both super nice and figured out what had happened right away (I have an outside fuse as well as the one in the basement), and then they installed my lamp for me. Not a complicated case, but it saved my saturday, and everything in my freezer. Sometimes you just need the right person at the right time, and these guys are them! They’re definitely going in my phone directory!

The electricians came out for a house call same day (one being the owner). They replaced a broken fixture in ~30 minutes and provided the parts needed from their van. Usual house call rate $ 100, very reasonable, and no added charges for parts. They’ve also been awarded «Best of» by Boston Magazine!

Just had an emergency call answered (promptly!) by Cambridge Electrical Contractors — wow, I am SO HAPPY I called them after reading a few Unilocal reviews. They told me how to fix my problem immediately (a burglary alarm system malfunction) over the phone (no small thing, since it was blaring randomly and could not be shut off) and then they were genuinely entirely happy to set me free without any charge what-​so-​ever — just a «have a nice day» before hanging up. After that I realized I had an ancillary problem with the fire alarms in my home which they came to fix for me within 2 hours of my call — since they were working at a job nearby. They couldn’t have been nicer, more professional, or more knowledgeable. And they were very reasonably priced. I put their card on the fridge right away! I recommend their services highly.

These guys are great. For the workmanship, professionalism, knowledge, and service, these guys are a steal!
We had an electric operated skylight put in and needed an electrician to hook it up for us. We were able to schedule Dan to come out within a week of the skylight being put in. He actually came on a Saturday. They hooked the skylight up and the best part… no holes in my wall! And he did some research online about the skylight and installation instructions, before he came out.
I will not go with another electrician. Scheduling can be a little tricky, because they are so busy, but its worth the wait.

Dan and his crew rewired most of my house, replacing two old fuse boxes with three new circuit breaker panels and meters, separating the circuits by unit/​public, installing a bunch of new circuits, and even running some CAT5, all at a very reasonable price. After construction is complete, he’ll be coming back to install a bunch of ceiling fixtures and fans.
As another poster said, he’s also a Cambridge firefighter which makes me all the more confident in the quality of his work: any questionable cabling was simply replaced.
He has been very good at keeping in contact and giving me progress reports. I honestly cannot recommend him more highly.

Friendly, helpful, and extremely well-​priced. They were able to come out to the house within a week of my calling them. In addition to being polite and prompt, the rates I got were the best I’ve had from any electrician – $ 60 to exchange a fixture. Having had experience with both much pricier and much less reliable contractors in Cambridge, working with these guys was a joy.
Would strongly recommend, and will call again for any other electric work.

These guys were great! It was really easy to schedule a quote with them. We got fixtures install all over the house, and they did a great job, were very pleasant to work with, and are very reasonably priced. As the other reviewers also mentioned, they cleaned up as they installed the fixtures, which was really appreciated. Would highly recommend!

Excellent work on bathroom light fixtures– recommended.

I highly recommend these guys. Just got two ceiling light fixtures installed, was easy to schedule an appointment with them, they were quick and efficient. They also cleaned up after themselves and they are very nice and professional.

These guys were fantastic. I had a short in the circuit that controls all of the lights in my apt and he came straight over to fix it even though it was a sunday during the pats game. His work was great, he was very friendly, and it was reasonably priced. I will DEFINITELY be calling them for all of my electrical needs in the future.

these guys just installed a ceiling fan for me 15 minutes ago. they are extremely friendly, reasonably priced, and they got the job done.
they also cleaned up after themselves which was greatly appreciated.
