My husband and I had a great experience with Daniel. We love our rings and were able to find something a bit more unique (for me) and more classic (for him) to accommodate our different tastes. We were referred to Daniel by friends of ours who had bought gorgeous, one-​of-​a-​kind wedding rings that Daniel had designed. He customized my sapphire-​and-​diamond band to fit with the engagement ring my husband had purchased from another jeweler (it fits perfectly).
We found Daniel to be friendly with a good sense of humor, and he listened very attentively to help us find exactly what we were looking for.
I couldn’t recommend him enough – I’m so happy with my ring!

I came in and took up a bunch of Daniel’s time several times before we finally worked out what he was going to do for the engagement ring I wanted to get for my now fiancé. He was very polite and spent so much of his valuable time with me I really appreciated it. I actually ended up enjoying the ring shopping that I had been dreading for months.
I was so excited to see the finished ring he was making; it actually helped slow down time while I finished my Ph.D. dissertation! In the end I had a beautiful ring that was one of a kind, and I felt like I had some part in its creation, though I am afraid I possess none of the skills to have actually made it. :-) I was also surprised at how fairly priced the ring was, he really gives you a much better product for very comparable prices to a mass produced ring.
He will always be a special person for me; he was the first person I told that I was going to propose, and the first to congratulate me on getting engaged… He did it when we first met! I think he has a pretty good track record with his clients having success with proposals!

We bought our wedding rings 26 years ago from Dan, and he has stood by his jewelry ever since. We went back on our tenth anniversary to ask for him to make us custom rings cut from the same band of gold. People in all sorts of places have recognized his work!
He is a gifted artist, and always fusses over his rings when we come to have them cleaned (now from out of state), but I know that’s because he cares passionately about his work.
If your focus is customer service go to a chain. If you want beautiful jewelry that will last, go see Dan.

My husband and I got our wedding bands from Daniel this spring. We found out about him through a friend who got her wedding bands from him as well. My husband and I wanted something really unique and something that would compliment my already unique engagement ring. After visiting a couple of times to see the jewelry examples he had, Daniel helped me pick a band that would work for me and customized it with larger diamonds. My then fiancé returned after much debate on what he wanted and Daniel was able to custom design him a ring AND complete it in a very short 2 week window before our wedding ceremony (mine took about 6 weeks, shorter than the 8 – 12 week estimate) We absolutely LOVE our rings and truly could not have dreamed of rings more representative of us. My husband’s ring ended up being a bit too small since it’s warmed up a bit. We were afraid because of how detailed it is, Daniel wouldn’t be able to resize it, but he told us not to worry and he can resize it in at most, 1 day! We’ll be going in later this week to have that done.
Daniel has a dry sense of humor and is very funny. He will let you know right away what will and will not work during the design period. Though his prices are high, for the quality of the materials he uses (18Kt gold, conflict-​free, clearest diamonds) and the artistry is well worth the cost. No one in the world will have a ring like mine or my husbands! Daniel also has a little shop dog, Ziggy, who is very loud, but very friendly! Warning, if you wear sandals, he’ll probably lick your toes :)
All in all, I would recommend Daniel Spirer Jewelers to anyone looking for high quality custom jewelry with a unique flair. Thank you Daniel!

I cannot speak to the quality of the jewelry, only to the customer service. I went in to have an engagement ring resized, and the owner managed to insult my ring, where I bought it, and my hand. He was unwilling to size the ring the way I requested (I wanted it slightly bigger than what he thought was best). He clearly was not interested in my business. If I had been interested in buying our wedding bands from him, I certainly am not now.

It’s clear from the craftsmanship of the jewelry that the owner takes pride in his work. However, this is a very unfriendly establishment. The man knows a great deal about gold earrings, but nothing about customer service. As you enter the doors, there are small signs about taking off your sunglasses and hoodies, using the buzzer, etc. Apparently, the store must have been robbed at one point. But the notes are off putting. Then, as one walks in, a barking small dog appears from nowhere and yaps like a banshee. I could not focus on the jewelry because I thought the dog was going to eat my ankles. if robbers are the issue, perhaps an alert, quiet german shepard might be better than a highly annoying pocket book-​sized dog. Finally, Mr Spirer just isn’t that friendly. He seems sullen and grumpy. I’ve been there three times and always left a bit depressed. He probably is a nice guy and likely very good at his work. However, give me Porter Square books, Tags, and all the other great places that seem happy to have your business, any day!

I had an amazing experience here. We went in looking for an engagement ring and I fell in love with this artists’ work. Mr. Spirer was great to work with, stands by the quality of his work and sourcing of the stones (I recommend reading his blog its pretty great). He even helped me rework something when what I requested was not what I wanted in the end, that kind of customer service you will not find anywhere else. I am so pleased with the ring and can’t wait to return for our bands!

Daniel Spirer soldered two rings together for me to create my wedding band. He was easy to work with, the work is high quality and looks great, and his prices were reasonable.

Daniel is a very gifted jeweler and a gem to work with. My husband and I have several pieces from Daniel, including my engagement ring and both our wedding bands. In all, he has created four pieces for us. In each case, he worked with us to create a design and then created exactly what we’d had in mind. His designs are beautiful and unusual.
