To Whom It May Concern, I just ordered food from Genki Ya Sushi and they forgot an item(not the first time). They were so rude as if I was inconveniencing them for a mistake that they made. The soup is not the thing I’m really mad about, not the $ 3.00 either, it’s the principal and the lack of customer service. Funny thing is the EAT app asks you to tip ahead of time. Why am I tiping for service I haven’t even yet received, only to find out it’s terrible and they were over an hour late. Side note: They gave me a spoon for the soup that never made it into the bag. Sincerely, A hangry customer

Always have been very happy with everything I’ve ordered. I always order delivery from them, and it’s always been a very speedy delivery time. Love the eel n avocado roll(personal fav) and their spider roll is to die for! Everything is always fresh and very tasty!

Very affordable sushi for lunch time delivery, and arrives the expected wait time!

Friendly and efficient, with a wide selection of rolls, Genki Ya has 2 other convenience advantages, besides delivery — the kitchen is open till 10:30 pm on weeknights, and they have a number of vegetarian food choices — it was a great choice for our party of 7, at 10 pm, with Harvard square off limits on commencement night.

The miso soup and seaweed salad were both good. But the spicy tuna roll was terrible. The texture and taste were completely off. I can’t really figure out how they made such a bad tuna roll. I would definitely not go back to this place.

DONOTORDERDELIVERYFROMHERE. Delivery took close to 2 hours. When I would call back I was told, «10 more minutes.» This was not the case. The fish itself was chewy and not great quality. The hot order was cold by the time it arrived. Awful experience.

This is one of my go-to lunch spots. Service is quick and the sushi specials are a great deal.

Plates were dirty, waitress was rude, had to remind her to refill our water constantly. After we got the bill, she complained about the tip, and demanded more. Pretty ok sushi, but not coming back because of rude staff.

This sushi place is great. I had two organic sushi rolls with soup and salad for 12.00 with tax included… The miso soup was incredible and had organic mushrooms floating in it, the salad was nice spring greens; not just iceberg lettuce. The rolls were delicious and fresh. I has spicy yellowtail and salmon avocado. I believe for a sushi lunch you dont get a better inexpensive to quality ratio than here!

The delivery system is so good and easy! I just click the menu from my computer and then wait! That’s it! The foods taste good, but sometimes the raw fish was not fresh… I got food poisoning around two times after eating here. Just be aware when you eat sashimi.

Great for very particular take-out… We love the torched salmon roll and alligator roll. Have tried a few other maki rolls that were not memorable. Dining in was not as good an experience, the service was ‘confused’ and to the point. I suggest do take out and enjoy their delicious food in your own comfy home.

Eh. The delivery is convenient, but the quality has been inconsistent at best and A lot of times the sushi rice is way too tangy. When it’s good, it’s good, but I can’t bet on that being the case, so 3 stars.

The sushi here is decent and the main reason it’s a go-to is because of their cash deal($ 14 for 3 rolls, salad, and miso soup). Yesterday, I decided to get an extra order of scallop sashimi(had never tried the sashimi here before) and it was super not fresh. I ended up just throwing it away :( TL;DR: decent place for«americanized» sushi but not the freshest fish. I would suggest Fish Market in Allston or Hana Sushi in North Cambridge for delicious sashimi: D

Ordered delivery through Seamless. It arrived sooner than the estimate said and the sushi was great! Recently had a bad experience with a sushi order from another restaurant, so I was a little hesitant and nervous about this, but will definitely order from here again! Sushi tasted fresh, the sashimi was thick and delicious, and I loved the luxury roll. Place isn’t cheap, but the food is quality, so worth it every now and then :-).

First impression walking in the door… DIMTHEFREAKINLIGHTS!!! For a place that offers up super large cuts of fresh sushi and delicious maki rolls, you’d think they might take a hint from somebody about how to light a restaurant! They also off warm Sake which was a nice addition to our dining experience. We ordered yellowtail, salmon and unagi sushi and shrimp tempura maki roll. All were plated up and presented nicely at the table. As I stated the pieces of sushi were some of the largest cuts I’ve ever experienced. Each one could be cut into 3 bite sized pieces for easier eating — especially when on a date. You DON’T want to look sloppy when eating sushi. I gave the food 4 stars. But people… Please hire an interior lighting design person and add some new more appealing lights so we don’t burn out our retinas!!!

Warm cup of sake, A sour kick to the tongue; Wrapped in heat’s embrace. I was blessed to visit Genki-Ya with my friend who is half-Japanese and highly educated in the cuisine that belongs to that side of her family. She introduced me to warm sake, which hit in two punches: tartness mixed with that alcoholic kick you get from vodka. We picked the wrong season in which to drink this. This sake is the perfect beverage to warm you up in the dead of winter. Seeing that it is summer, I guess we were following the Korean tradition of eating/drinking warm things during warm weather. Get here for the lunch special! Three rolls for $ 14.50. I highly recommend the Crazy Roll. The Spicy Seafood Roll is also very good. The pieces are quite small and the texture is kind of like canned tuna, but overall it’s very flavorful. My friend and I happy with it. The Color Vegetable Roll was… interesting. Get it if you’re feeling adventurous. We didn’t hate it, but we mostly felt confused each time we put a piece in our mouth.

My boss treated me here on my last day of work. We all got lunch specials which were around the usual price that they are up here in MA. The space isn’t very big but they fit as many tables as they possibly can. Service is average. Albeit it’s crowded during lunch hours — I could hear anyone and everyone’s conversation nearby — I stand by the fact that refilling water isn’t that hard and when there are empty plates should be cleared; that’s the bare minimum. However, they win when it comes to having fresh sushi. I wish I knew this place was closer to my internship sooner because I had heard of this place before and wanted to try it. Better late than never. Also, huge plus — they deliver on the«spicy» for their spicy rolls, at least more so than other sushi places I’ve eaten at, which was much appreciated.

I’m pregnant and can still have delicious sushi? SOLD! I was really impressed with the non-fish sushi options here. The atmosphere leaves something to be desired, but the food we had was great. I tried both the sweet potato/cream cheese roll and the ABC roll(avocado, banana and cream cheese). I loved both and would probably get these again even if I could eat raw fish! The dumplings we had to start were fine, but I would probably just stick with sushi next time.

Food/Value: 5 Stars Service: 4 Stars This is my go-to sushi spot in Boston/Cambridge. They have three locations in the area which makes it super convenient and I’ve actually been to all three. Believe it or not, the quality of each of the locations is about the same. What I like most about Genki Ya are their rolls. They are absolutely delicious, well made with a decent ratio of filling to rice. Seaweed is fresh. Everything just gives a very clean feeling when I look at the plating to the construction of rolls that are really geometrically prepared unlike places which just put together the rolls as fast as they can. Value is also key. As Damien has mentioned, this place is great for the quality and amount of sushi they give you! If you want someplace you can go to for all your sushi needs on a regular basis, Genki Ya won’t break the bank. Some of my favorite rolls in no particular order: Volcano roll, Doomsday Roll!!!, Hawaiian Roll. They also do the traditional appetizers and udon pretty well.
