I stopped by Hagop’s for the first time this afternoon with my preschooler. I had several small pieces of framed art that needed picture wire to be attached to them for hanging. I wasn’t sure how this request for such a small job was going to be received, but Tom, the owner, simply pulled out his drill and all the appropriate hardware and fixed up the frames right then and there. My four-year-old and I were thrilled to get to watch him at his craft. We had a lovely conversation with him too, and he kindly told us all about the hardware parts he was using and the techniques that go into producing frames. When he was finished, he wouldn’t even charge me! Needless so say, we are thrilled to have this shop in the neighborhood and will definitely be back the next time we need something framed. Thanks, Tom!

The new owner of Hagop’s Art Studio is great. He is warm and friendly and very knowledgeable about all your framing needs. Tom is an artist himself so he has a good eye for color and sizing. His prices are very reasonable and does well with getting a picture back to you in a timely manner. If you haven’t visited his store yet, drop in. He has great examples of his work and does great shadow boxes for almost anything, i.e. baby shoes, a special toy such as Star War figures. Stephanie, Watertown, MA

I wanted to frame a print for my husband’s birthday and a friend from Watertown recommended Hagop’s. When I took it in, Tom had recently taken ownership of the shop, so I didn’t know whether my friend’s recommendation would still hold. However, I was very pleased with the service and the quality of the work. Tom was very friendly and spent plenty of time with me showing different creative options for framing an unusual print. He ended up getting something from his workshop that hadn’t been out on display after getting a sense of what I liked. He made it look fantastic and the quality of his worksmanship is excellent. I saw a number of other prints waiting for other customers that also looked very nice. Even more impressive, though, was the quality of his service. My husband’s birthday was not for a few weeks, but we were leaving to travel in a few days. I knew that I would likely have to pick up the print after we returned and just tell him about it for his birthday. Tom learned about this through conversation and stated that he would try to have it ready sooner if he could. I dropped it off at about 6pm on a Friday and got an email from him at 2:30am on Saturday morning that it was ready! He did not charge anything extra for the rush, or for the extra work he did to paint the white edges so that they wouldn’t show around the shadow-box framing.

I had an embroidery project framed at Hagop’s, and Tom, the new owner, did a wonderful job. He was very helpful, making suggestions when I asked for them in choosing an appropriate frame. He has a great esthetic sense and is very knowledgeable. The finished job was beautiful, exactly the way I wanted it to look. He’s a really sweet guy, and he finished the job early, too, and took the time to call me to let me know. I highly recommend this place.

I had 2 prints of uncommon sizes that I wanted to be framed… Tom did a great job of framing both pieces for less than I originally thought it would cost. Given the quality of his work I feel that I got a great deal. I had to take a cab there and was hoping that I could go back with the prints the same day so I wouldn’t have to make 2 separate trips. Luckily for me it wasn’t busy when I went there so I was able to drop them off, take a walk down the street, and come back to having one of them already finished. The second one didn’t take much longer. The front looks perfect, there is a nice backing to the frames, he included mounting hardware, and wrapped the pieces up nicely for me. If I have anything needing to be framed in the future I’ll be back. Thanks Tom!

Mr. Hagop is a genius in everyway. His old world training puts him at such an advantage; he can look at a print of any reputable artist, give you his name and century. He then suggests a suitable frame for the period. His prices are incredible considering the quality of the work. He is a superb craftsman with superb taste and a superb heart. I might also mention his associate, the delightful Mrs. Hagop. l

I had a few prints I wanted to frame. I called a few places and their prices were ridiculous. I called Hagop’s and he told me to come in and we could go over some options. His prices were VERY reasonable and he did a great job — exactly what I wanted at the price I wanted to pay. This is where I’ll be going from now on.

Hagop is fantastic! I love having things to bring to him, seriously. I enjoy doing this errand! We moved farther away but still take the time to go see him for any framing needs. He is kind, extremely affordable for quality framing, and an artisan. I hope he doesn’t retire and just keeps on doing what he enjoys and is excellent at — there just aren’t many people and shops like this anymore. I love supporting his independent business! IFYOUHAVEANYTHINGTOFRAME, get it done here!

Hagop is the best. Heard about him through someone at work, and now bring all of my framing work to him(don’t ever retire, Hagop!). His prices are very reasonable and he’ll turn something around quickly if you need him to. His work is high quality, and he has a great eye and will make recommendations when you’re stumped as to what frame will suit your artwork. Highly recommended.

Brought in a picture I wanted custom-framed, he did it quickly, cheaply, and awesomely. It looks great, definitely more affordable than a lot of other places around!

I’ve been by this shop about a million times and I’ve only ever seen the one guy in there. I’m not sure if he’s Hagop, but he’s great. I brought my subject in — a 30+ year-old needlepoint project of my mom’s– and he showed me possible frames and mattes; what he thought would look best. I chose the wood stain color, he wrote me up a slip and gave me an estimate after I asked for one and I was on my way. It came out beautifully! I’m giving it to my mom in a few weeks and I know she’ll love it. My only complaint, and it’s minor, is that I never received a call from him to let me know it was ready. I dropped it off the week before Christmas with fingers crossed that he might be able to get it done for me by then, but no dice. It was ok, after all, I knew I was cutting it close. He told me «after Christmas, after Christmas.» He took my phone number and I thought he’d call, but I ended up just going by one day after work a few weeks later. After hearing Mr. Hagop speak with several customers, I’m confident he’s not out to rip anyone off and that he really knows his stuff. I’d bring back custom frame work to him any day!
