Massage is a must for me. I work as a jewelry teacher and nearing 61. Those aches and pains of bursitis and arthritis complain after a five day workshop in teaching students to saw metal. I rely on the expertise of good massage therapists. Recently, I had my first session in Shiatsu. Not knowing what this was, I was hesitant… now I am a convert. Liz Vequist is very knowledgeable in reading my body and what it required to unlock my shoulders, straighten my hips and spine. Massage is great for muscles, but what she does in her practice really gets into those tight knots and releases the tension. Her space is comfortable and relaxing. She is a true professional, but emanates a lovely soothing calmness which puts you at ease immediately. The true perk was covering my eyes which allows me to completely relax. Find Liz. She is the real deal.

Liz is a fantastic holistic wellness coach who helped me in so many ways with my eating, exercise régime, and body image. I feel transformed from the inside out and accomplished all of my health goals with flying colors. I feel more confidence in my food choices and not so lost about eating. I built a lot of muscle tone as well. It was incredibly empowering for me to transform myself from the inside out with Liz’s knowledge and support. My digestion has also greatly improved. And, my husband is enjoying more fulfillment in the healthy meals that I make. I deem the program a great success. Thanks, Liz!

I’ve been seeing Liz over a decade. She is absolutely one of the best shiatsu practitioners that I have ever encountered. As I said, she is a shiatsu(acupressure) practitioner and not a relaxation massage therapist. If you would like to have someone who touches gently and makes you relax, she is not for you. But if you are like me and have chronic pain in the neck, shoulders and back, and relaxation massage can’t accomplish anything, then she is for you. Shiatsu massage can adjust your body, ease the consistent pain in your muscles and make you feel completely refreshed. If you like really strong massage, I highly recommend her. She is not only very talented but also a very nice and pleasant individual. I am sure you will feel better!

I just had my first Shiatsu Massage with Liz in her new Harvard Square office. Sorry Watertown :(It’s in the back of O2 yoga which also has really good yoga classes. I recommend yoga then shiatsu if you want to do both. First thing is I forgot to bring loose fitting pants, but no worries Liz made it work anyway. The office space, and the heated shiatsu matt was so comfortable I forgot that my pants were limiting my range of movement. Overall the massage was very relaxing, but I’ve had many relaxing massages. What really sets Liz apart from the rest of the massage therapists I’ve had is that her practice delivers really powerful direct relief to the sore parts of my body. I mentioned that I had tight calves from getting back into running in Vibrams again after the snowmagedon. She fixed that. I also mentioned that I have golfer’s elbow from climbing. I have been taking a break from climbing for over month and it has been healing very slowly with just ice and Ibuprofen. She got into all of the tender spots, and made as much improvement in my elbow as I’ve gotten from a month of resting it. Then she got to my shoulders and found all of the knots that I didn’t even know about. Fixed those too. Overall it was an amazing treatment from a great Shiatsu practitioner. Try a session, you won’t be disappointed!

I enjoy regular massages and have tried many places in Boston and Cambridge, but Liz is my favorite therapist. When I first met her, I was over worked, stressed, tired and living an unhealthy lifestyle. The shiatsu sessions are slightly different from the usual massage that just focus on the tense muscles. Using finger pressure, joint manipulation, stretching and working through the body’s meridians, it is thorough and hits all the right spot. I like usually like deep massages but Liz gets it just right and it is pampering. She always picks out my imbalances(such as indigestion, sleep problems or emotional issues) and targets her treatment. I feel much more balanced and relaxed after each session and sleep better. It helps your body detox or deal with whatever challenges you are facing. After some great sessions with her, I joined her detox program which improved my health drastically. I was going through a difficult time in my life and ate very unhealthily binging on carbs and sugar etc. You get a lot of support from the detox group and she combines her knowledge on nutrition, traditional/natural therapies, self care and cooking. I felt very renewed and nowadays other than the odd treat, have kicked most of my bad eating habits. This combined with her health advice and regular shiatsu treatments, have transformed my body in 6 months, I am slimmer and my skin is glowing. She now has a new office, which is fresh, bright and welcoming.
