Come here for the beer — don’t expect a lot out of the food. During the week this is a great spot but during the weekends is super loud and cramped. Amazing beer list that rotates frequently. They obviously service their taps regularly.

Good selection of beer, terrible food. For my mussels dish I was served with mussels so tiny, I’d be embarrassed if I were the cook. The plate was overflowing with carrots, broccoli, zucchini. All not seasoned, at all. I had to ask for salt. My kid’s Schnitzel had a bone in it. What? The prices for what is being served are outrageous. But, well, the beer was good.

Meadhall is a large drinking establishment which also serves food. My review is for drinks only. Inside is a large oval bar with plenty of seating in and around it. Their strength is in their quantity and quality of the beer they offer. I was originally attracted by noticing they continually have Lunch by Maine Beer Co on heavy rotation. We came around 5pm and the place fills up quickly even during a weekday. Sitting at the bar was comfortable and easy to get to know your neighbors, bartender or neither if you prefer. Overall Meadhall is a great local watering hole that will most likely have some good beer to choose from no matter your preference. Thanks!

I’m conflicted on what rating to give. I love the beer selection at this place, and the restaurant is nice and clean and everything. But… the food sucks. I had the schnitzel, which was very expensive(as they tend to be), and it was just bad. It had bone in it, which is not supposed to be in a schnitzel. Even worse, the potato salad that came with it tasted like sour balls. It was disgusting. I love potato salad, and I’ve never had one I didn’t like… until today. I wish I could give two ratings, one for the beer/atmosphere and one for the food. For the beer, I give 5 stars. For the food, it’s –1, which averages to 2 stars overall.

Great place with an excellent and diverse number of beer options and very solid food. this would be five stars if and when they ever get a website built. Not that they really need it since Biogen keeps them in business all by itself, but it would help for the rest of us who have to travel a bit further too see what’s on tap.

This would be 5 stars, because beer, but you don’t have a guest password for your wifi? That is extremely lame in the year 2016. Instead of Meadhall, how about naming the SSID you wont share the password for something like ‘bobswifi’ and lying to people when they ask if you have wifi? You can just say, ‘no, we’re 1997 here, no wifi.’

Terrible business practices and rudeness make for a terrible customer experience regardless of what’s on offer. Not allowing outside snacks because you serve food and want people to buy yours makes sense. Not allowing outside snacks while NOT serving any food makes no sense. Rudely kicking out returning customers who are happily purchasing drinks for bringing snacks in after the kitchen is already closed(several hours before closing time) just loses loyal customers. The least they could have done was be polite about it. They also tend to be out of several drinks on the menu. The drink selection isn’t even worth it when there’s a good chance they’ll be out of at least one thing you want to order. 0⁄10 customer experience

Really enjoyed a late lunch at Meadhall. Needed some authentic New England chowder and found it. Tons of good beer on tap and great atmosphere and service. Would recommend it to anyone.

One day I came here with some friends for a Sunday funday adventure. We had come from a brewery and wanted another drink to end the day. The first thing you see when you walk in is an endless amount of bar taps. So I put on my big boy pants and got the strongest beer they had(w00t stout 13%). Woah, all you need is one. There are so many beers to choose from. They have something for every taste. Personally, I am a stout and Belgium fan. Come here if you want a beer adventure. So many choices, grouped together by style. It’s overwhelming at first but you will be just fine. My only issue is that there are days where this place is too crowded and loud. That mostly happens on Friday and Saturday nights.

When my friend suggested this place, I had already formed an opinion. I thought this was going to be a hole in the wall bar frequented by bros and college students. Boy was I wrong. First, there was a lot of parking nearby which is great especially if you have to drive in and don’t want to spend half an hour circling the block looking for somewhere to park only to have to park five blocks away. When I came in, I noticed how big and well kept the space was. I came on a Friday night and it wasn’t packed. I was able to get a seat at the bar. The bartender came by and gave me a menu and there was a large selection to pick from. As my friends arrived, we were quickly able to find a table. We were able to talk without having to shout over each other which was appreciated. Not sure what happened when I went, but they did the last call at 12:30AM because I believe they were short staffed. So that was the only negative thing of the night.

The beer selection is amazing, and recommendations from the staff are usually spot-on. Food-wise the burger is good, but the rest of the selection is nothing to write home about. It is slightly annoying that there’s only one small set of restrooms that are upstairs, away from the main area, and lack paper towels.

So many beers on tap from all over the creation. The fries, beer nuts, and pretzel are absolutely fantastic. The burger was meh, but it’ll pass. The atmosphere and service was great. Love this spot!

Came here on a sunday so I can’t contribute about the crowds(and would be interested to see it on a fri/sat night). The beer selection is extensive and I really appreciated the bartender’s knowledge. Ask them whatever, taste whatever, they understand you’re not going to know all 200 beers but they do! I imagine picking their brain would be harder on a crazy night, so maybe try coming when it’s less mellow first. The atmosphere is pretty cool, definitely more classy and hipster with chalk drawing everywhere. It has high ceilings which make it feel super open and obviously the bar is huge to make room for all the taps. Super close to the kendall stop as well, so that’s mega convenient.

Borderline beer obsessed, spots like Meadhall are a godsend for crazies like me. List of beer on tap is plentiful and so, when it came to girls night, I thought where better than Meadhall? We got here on a Thursday evening and were seated immediately despite the bar being elbow to elbow. Table seating is reserved for those ordering food and you’ll be disappointed if you expect a menu that stands strong against the beer list. The menu is short, standard, uncreative pub fare. I was so uninspired that I ended up getting the poutine for dinner. Can you mess up poutine? YES, YOUCAN. Salty as all hell, fries limp and lukewarm, I threw in the towel quickly and opted to fill my belly with beer instead. Come for the beer, DONOT stay for the dinner.

Beer selection is impressive! Although every time we’ve been there, a few beers have always been not available. They also have nice cocktails(if they have the ingredients), and bottles of gluten free beer. The space is open, modern, and has full-length windows that they open on warm days so you’re getting amazing fresh air. The bartenders and wait staff are always extremely friendly and understanding/supportive of big groups. Over last year or so, they began to track who orders what so you can split the check. AMAZING. The hostesses have always been kind of unfriendly/mean — but if you can wait that out, it’s worth it. The food however is hard to make gluten free. They have grilled chicken, salmon, burgers etc. And even a gluten free menu now(thank you!). But they also tell you that the meat can be contaminated w flour b/c it’s grilled on the same surface as other gluten-containing stuff(and maybe even the buns?). For some reason having something done on a pan on the side wasn’t an option =(. So I wound up getting Ceasar salad leaves w dressing for dinner. Which was tasty… but depressing lol. Fries are also fried in same oil as flour-containing foods. The best appetizer I found was the pickled vegetables. And you can get the hummus plate with vegetables instead of pita bread. This place gets BUSY starting at 4:30pm on weekdays. But usually you can get a table for dinner when there are no spots at the bar. So we try to come hungry. Great for day drinking, esp on weekends.

Tons of mead. A giant selection of flavored meads, fruity and not. Multitudes of beer. Two levels of high top tables and stools. Crowded it gets very much so. MIT and Harvard mostly. And the rest of the beer loving world. Central Square has a plethora of bars and this is one that is a little too big and slightly impersonal. However, the beer selection is wonderful, the service is generally fast.

Wasn’t overly impressed with this place. Was doing a work lunch and didn’t pick it. We were kinda I crammed into a booth which wasn’t really the right size to fit 5 people. The food was ehhh ok, I have the meatloaf sandwich which was again ok, nothing special about it. The fries looked like they were the bottom of the bin, small inconsistent prices. I wouldn’t go out of my way to avoid the place but I wouldn’t recommend it for food. Now they did have a great looking beer selection but I was at a «work» lunch so didn’t really get a chance to sample.

Great bar vibe to go with friends or on a date. Love the food offerings. The poutine is delicious! I wanted to love the mac and cheese but it was a bit to «al dente» for me. Meatloaf was out of this world! I know this place is known for their drafts but the house mule was great. It was served in a silver cup instead of the copper cup but it was pretty darn good. Bathroom upstairs is a bit inconvenient but there was never a wait on Friday night.

Solid choice for craft beer and stomach-coating food. I am an IPA drinker and recognized and approved most of the choices in IPAs and Imperial IPAs on tap, maybe 8 total. No surprises except for Port from California which was excellent, but most important no mass-consumption mild brews passed off as craft. I’d had a late lunch so ordered steak tartare thinking it would be light. D’oh! It was the ½ pound Angus burger, without the sear from the grille. But the meat was well flavored and quickly gone along with the accompanying toasts. Mac and Cheese was massive and satisfying. Buffalo Shrimp the only disappointment, Really good and fresh shrimp fried without batter and dipped in buffalo sauce. A waste of both the sauce(which was excellent, and wings on a neighboring table smelled great) and shrimp. There was an error on our bill, quickly and apologetically fixed. It’s a busy place and mistakes can happen. But even if you’re plowed, take the trouble to check your bill before you slip in your credit card.

What good is offering an extensive beer list if you’re always out of the more unique taps? This is my ongoing struggle with Meadhall. My experience with the food menu has been a toss up – sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s bland. I like the frites in all of its varieties(plain, with gravy, with steak, etc). In any case, I’m here for the beer, and I’d happily hand over lots of my money for some tasty new-to-me brews. I don’t know what the issue is. That being said, I like that you can nearly always find a seat at the big circular bar, and the bartenders are friendly, knowledgeable, and available. On a side note, I would love for them to finish their website. If I’m going to trek over to Kendall, I’d like to know what’s on tap.
