Way overpriced and the customer service is severely lacking. When I was asking about sizing, instead of helping me, she essentially rolled her eyes.

The cold weather has lasted way too long this year, but that also means there’s a need for a never-ending supply of tights to keep your legs warm! I’ve started going to this place somewhat recently and I’m a cautious fan. It seems to be a Turkish company, it has a young, hip vibe, and the store people are friendly. They have some very cute patterns that stand out but look elegant on a leg. I’ve bought four pairs of tights from there and they’ve all been very comfortable(not too itchy or tight). However, while 3 of my pairs have lasted ~10 wears each, one of them ripped when putting them on for only the 3rd wear(and continued to rip almost anywhere I tried to pull). These tights are mediumly priced in the US(ranging from ~$ 11 simple tights to ~$ 30 really fancy tights), but the happening with my 4th pair makes me a little cautious. Also in general, tights in the US are really at rip-off prices, considering a good pair of black tights is only around $ 3 and crazy tights are about $ 15 in fashion country Japan! This is still a lot better than the series of failures I’ve had with Forever 21, Payless, Macy’s, etc(inconsistent sizing, flimsy easily rippable material, loses elasticity, changes shape after laundry, etc)!! Anyways, check this place out, get some cute tights to show off for the spring, and write some more reviews for this place!

Penti is the ultimate source for tights in Boston. As Lisa P. says in her review, they have a huge selection of beautiful leggings – I even saw some for pregnant ladies! A saleswoman will be happy to fill you in on things like weave and sizing(they use a European system). Prices for a pair of tights start around $ 16 and go to about $ 34. A couple minor reservations: The tights are mostly synthetic, so if you’re looking for cotton, you have fewer choices. Also, the sheer number of leggings in the store completely overwhelmed me, so I wound up running away without buying anything! I will be back with a more focused shopping list.

I was looking for some fun, unique white hosiery to wear under my wedding dress and being new to Boston, didn’t know where to go. I ended up at Forty Winks down the street in Cambridge, and while they have lovely lingerie there wasn’t much of a selection of stockings. As I was shuffling back towards the Harvard Street T station I spied through the construction on JFK a storefront showcasing hosiery and tights galore. Bingo! Penti has a small selection of bras, undies, kids tights, and mens socks, but where they really shine is women’s hosiery. When I was there I spotted basic cold weather tights, sexy fishnets and lacy stockings, and funky fashion forward leggings and tights in lots of different colors and patterns. I practiced some restraint and limited myself to two pairs, but I was really pleased with the selection and could have dropped a pretty penny in there. The prices are reasonable, about what you would pay in a department store. Note that Penti is a Turkish brand of hosiery, so you won’t see other brands(Hue and so on) in this store. The store is staffed by some very kind ladies who are happy to help if needed, but otherwise will leave you alone if you would like to browse in peace. I’ll definitely be back to stock up on some basics once the temperatures dip!
