Good food, good service. Would eat here again if in the area. The bartender was great and I highly enjoyed my lunch.

This place is fine. It’s clean, the service is friendly, and it’s a safe bet. They are good at accommodating if someone has a gluten allergy or different dietary restriction, but I really can’t say I’d come here unless I needed a to account for that. The problem I have is that the food just isn’t that good. It’s not bad, but if I’m spending the money to eat out in an area with such great access to food, I’ll go somewhere else. Bottom line, tavern is a good place to take your mom with a gluten allergy or grab a drink if all you need is a generic, localized and upscaled Applebee’s.

Love the Sunday all-you-can-eat brunch. Nice place and yummy offerings at a reasonable price. My favorite location. Very crowded and noisy on weekend and game nights.

Now that the Mets fans of Boston started coming here last year during the playoffs I have been coming here more often. They recently changed their logo & menu but thankfully it’s still a great place. Tasty food & creative cocktails, tons of tvs & good service as well. I couldn’t believe how big their veggie burger was but damn it was super tasty & one of the better ones I have had. You can tell it was homemade but I guess it needed a special sauce of some kind like a sun-dried tomato aioli or something similar as ketchup is so boring. It was so filling I didn’t even had room for dessert; maybe next time.

Came here a week ago on a Thursday for a friend’s birthday. The food wasn’t very good, appetizers came in extremely small portions, my fig pizza was dough with fig jam and some spinach on the side and the wait staff was extremely unfriendly. They seemed rather annoyed that a big party was there, even though we made reservations etc. much better experiences at other Taverns.

Food was extremely sub par. We had an 11 person party and the service was the worst. Don’t get the calamari, it was bland and a very small portion. Had to constantly hunt down the waitresses for basic things like the check, plates, silverware, and waters. Very rude attitudes to top it off. We will not be returning anytime soon.

This was already my favorite location but my experience there last night sealed the deal. Our food was amazing. The staff was friendly, knew the menu well and our meals came out promptly. At one point the manager came out to greet us and asked about our meal. This left an impression for sure. Parking is easy too! We parked just a few feet from the entrance. This is one of my favorite spots.

Service was quick and friendly. I had the Mac and cheese, which I enjoyed. I also had a couple of hard ciders which I also enjoyed. It was earlier in the evening(about 4 – 5) so there wasn’t a wait and it wasn’t crowded. I’ve been here two or three times and haven’t had a bad meal. Not my favorite place in the neighborhood but I actually prefer their food to Christopher’s!

Mediocre food, higher than average prices, slower than normal service. When the entry level hamburger is $ 12 at a place outside Boston, you sort of expect a nice, big, filling burger made of like half a pound of top quality beef, with a heaping plate of crispy fries. What I got was a medium sized tasteless burger that literally fell apart while eating it. It felt light and airy while eating it(not a quality you want) and dripped a «juice» which was so tasteless it couldn’t possibly be mistaken for fat. Served alongside this was a pretentious mini-fryer basket of french fries. I’ve never consumed a «half pound» hamburger so unsatisfying that I left hungry. You should never leave hungry after a half pound hamburger and fries.

I’m a Lesley University graduate student who works full time. I have very little time to waste. After class tonight, I sat at the bar at Tavern in the Square and ordered a beer and a quesadilla. Oddly, it took about 35 minutes to get my quesadilla. I didn’t say anything to my server but I thought… hmmm. that took quite awhile and I’m not sure I would come back here if i were in a hurry — which I usually am. Anyway, the manager whose name was Ty came over and said«I’m sorry this took so long, this one is on me.» AMAZING. Not only did he do the right thing, but I will make a point to return there again and again and recommend it to friends. Thank you Ty — you are an invaluable asset to this restaurant and I hope that your boss realizes that. By the way, the quesadilla was awesome — but not as awesome as the experience.

Mongolian wings were fantastic! Salad was very lackluster. Where are the ingredients? It was unnecessarily moist and unbelievably cold, as if it had been sitting outside. Not saying a salad should be warm, but room temperature is most palatable. Also, why is iceburg lettuce still a thing? As noted by other reviewers service was on the slow side.

I left not overly impressed. With all the bars and good eats in Boston, this one felt like a chain restaurant that was lacking. I ordered the pretzel mac and cheese which was a fall special and it was a generous portion. There wasn’t anything special to it though. I could have used something interesting on top, more so than the crunchy things(pretzels???) that were on top. The best part of the meal was my DownEast Cider. I’d highly recommend the pumpkin cider. The waitress was very nice and came around once in a while to check on us. She helpfully split the check and was chatty whenever she came around. Nothing bad, but wholey uninteresting all around.

I’d most definitely recommend the blackened chicken pasta. And/or the sesame-crusted chicken salad. Very tasty! Good selection of beers. And the crowd is very good. I have had good sports conversations with folks standing with a beer to enjoy a good game. I have been here a lot since I live on the area.

Came here for Sunday brunch with 4 friends around noon. There was no wait! This place is the tits and has all you can eat for $ 17. Juice is extra. There is a very wide selection that includes regular breakfast options like cereal, toast, bacon, sausage, and fruit to brunch options like Eggs Benedict to exotic dishes like fried chicken pizza! Omelettes can be made to order and there are a ton of options for dessert like pastries, tea cakes, cake pops, whoopie pies, chocolate cake, and ice cream. It’s dessert lovers heaven! The only complaint we had was no sriracha(but what American restaurants do) and one of our Eggs Benedict was cooked through instead of runny. This is because they put the food in a heated container that further cooks the eggs. Definitely recommend for brunch especially if you at hungry or craving a variety of foods and sweets!

The place is fine, serving normal beer and normal bar food. After coming here regularly for over a year with the Boston Spanish Meetup group however, I’m amazed that the bar staff went rabid, refusing me service and throwing me(a 36 year old man!) out of the bar for being underage, not having an American ID(I’m Canadian) and trying to order a beer. One or two assinine apples spoil the bunch — don’t waste your time at this place if you can help it; lots of places(like Toads just down the street) with a lot more character and real people inside its walls.

I came with three friends for drinks and appetizers, and honestly, the food just wasn’t good. I ordered a red sangria, which was… a sad, sad drink. The color was a very, very light pink. It was totally watered down with a single piece of sad grapefruit. It was downright pitiful. Next up were the Nachos. There’s really nothing you can do to screw up Nachos, but these were… also pitiful. Mostly dried up stale chips. Skimpy on the cheese, skimpy on all toppings, one sad little pitiful scoop of guacamole and sad little pitiful scoop of sour cream on the side. Hate to say it but, really just wasn’t good. Next time, I’ll cross the street to Christophers and get cheese on my nachos and wine in my Sangria.

This is my «townie bar.» The bartenders are great — very attentive. Yes, there are a lot of «ya dudes» who frequent this place on game nights. But what do you expect? Food is good. Big Dig Fries are amazing. The Tater Tot Trio was disappointing. They have a great variety of beer on tap. I’ll keep coming back.

I’m from California and wanted to catch a Warriors playoff game with a fellow fan even though the game started around 10:30pm. The one star is because the manager turned off the tvs when there was 2:53left in the 4th and we were down by 7. Who the hell does that during a damn playoff game? It was 1:03am, they could wait 10 minutes for the game to end? I was hella mad and will not be returning there! Also, their chicken tender tasted like they were not seasoned at all and their ranch dressing tasted like crap. How do you mess up chicken tenders? Anyway, I won’t be coming back.

Came to Applebee’s in the Square to get some food and watch a basketball game. Thought everything was just ok. Plenty of seating and space, food was alright, big portion sizes for the price. Overall uninspiring though, nothing really memorable about the food or atmosphere. Felt like my experience was born from a conference room rather than the heart of a food-loving chef. Probably a good place to watch a big game with a crowd if they’re playing it with sound.

The customer service here is so bad, it was actually comical. No one took my order for a long time and when I went up to ask someone about it, they ignored me. Literally felt like I was invisible. It was so weird that I burst out laughing. They still ignored me. Later on, they brought my friend the wrong check and then the wrong credit card back. All of it was funny as we were in no rush, but I don’t think I’ll be going back. Food is mediocre anyways.

By far this location is the busiest from Thursday– Sat and now that football season is back, Sunday brunch is nuts. The beer selections here are very impressive. There are a lot of good craft beers for selections and the bartenders are very knowledgeable on all the beers. The location is really good being that it is in the same building as all the Japanese restaurants so Tavern makes a great place to end the evening the deserts are very good.

Along with being a busy college football bar(along with random screams and cheers), this place actually has a fantastic craft beer list. Hopheads should get Wookey Jack. For more subtle hop flavors and Belgian drinkability, Lost Abbey’s Devotion is fantastically refreshing. The Monterey Chicken sandwich had well charred grilled chicken. The onion rings are light and fluffy.

The food wasn’t bad! They got one of my favorite pub comfort food– chicken pot pie, which was absolutely yum! The pot pie comes piping hot and filled with chicken, peas, carrot and mushrooms. The oversized pastry crust was so buttery and flaky and the roux has a nice consistency. This dish comes in nice huge portion at a reasonable price! Service was nice and locations is perfect(right beside the Porter T station).

They’ve recently given the Tavern a coat of paint and a new menu and I’m a fan. All the faves from the old menu are still there — especially the buffalo chicken Mac n cheese. The beer menu is longer and more extensive, and has some really random but awesome choices(a nitro IPA for instance). They’ve also introduced the Brew Crew, essentially a loyalty program for the beer. Try everything on tap, get free stuff. My husband and I are making our way through and enjoying the new stuff were trying. If you’re after a quiet meal, avoid game time. It gets rowdy, but it’s also a lot of fun.

If you’re looking for a place to host a large party with all of your friends, please look no further than Tavern in the Square. Last month, I was frantically looking for a place to host a large dinner party. For 40 people. On a Friday night. Yeah right. I called about 15 places in Cambridge and Somerville, all of whom wanted my party to meet a minimum balance and have my guests order off of a fixed price menu. But when I called Tavern in the Square, the manager on duty talked to the owners and kitchen staff, and said the magic words to me: «No problem.» I rejoiced that I had found my dream place that would accommodate my crazy request. The actual party went perfectly. Tavern in the Square had reserved the entire back space for us, so my party of 40 had our own space where things weren’t too loud. The manager on duty, Angelo, was available that night and personally kept coming in to check on how things were going. We had three servers all to ourselves, who were prompt, efficient, and friendly. We got to order off of their full and very extensive menu, and everyone I talked to was satisfied with their meals(the fried avocado was a hit!). My sister came and even brought her 3-month-old baby, which the restaurant happily accommodated. Plus, many of my guests got to watch the Bruins game that was on that night. And finally, they never rushed us out of the place, even as things got busy toward the later hours of the night. Because of the incredibly accommodating staff who made the experience absolutely perfect, I really have a newfound respect for Tavern in the Square.
