Definitely one of the better Indian restaurants in this area, which suffers from a definite lack of good choices. We came in on Friday night and ordered paneer makhani, malai kofta, and plain naan. The naan was AMAZING and HOT(rarer than you would think) and nicely fluffy. The malai kofta was my entrée, and I was really pleased with the kofta themselves, which weren’t too heavily weighed down with potato and had a good spice to them. My friend’s paneer makhani was pretty standard but I really liked the texture and taste of the paneer – it wasn’t falling apart, nor was it extra-firm or rubbery. I never went there before the fire, so I couldn’t say if the décor or ambiance has changed, but I thought it was beautiful inside, with lots of gilded furnishings, soft sitar music, and white tablecloths, and of course the view over Harvard Square is perfect. Service was really friendly – they accidentally kept bringing us food meant for the tables around us, but they were really nice about it and our food was fresh and hot! Would definitely come back next time I’m in the mood for a nice dinner in Harvard Square!

We ordered three different curries and a Biryani. All of the curries were great — the best we’ve had in Boston so far. The rice and Nan were also very good. The Biryani seemed slightly soggy and didn’t live up to the curry, at least in our taste. Realize people have very different styles of biryani that they like. The service was fine although the restaurant seemed oddly empty. Also, the waiter twice tried to talk us out of ordering all of our things saying it was too much food even though we intended to take home leftovers. Maybe he didn’t want us to try to Biryani…

Whoa so I’m not sure what the great reviews are for — maybe the dinner? Lunch buffet was disappointing though. Our waiter was rude, running and yelling around, at one point I poured my own water. Fine, I can deal with that but the food wasn’t that good. The lentils were bland, the aloo gobi was mostly potatoes. In fact, there were very few vegetables at the buffet. And I don’t think it had that many options. My BF seemed to have liked his meat dishes but it was just sort of eh, give or take. Granted the buffet was about $ 10 but still not worth it.

This place is a very nicely decorated Indian Restaurant with an impeccable view of Harvard Square. The staff were very friendly and the food that we ordered was delicious. I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala and the sauce was impeccable. My dining companions ordered Tandoori Chicken and Salmon which they said was very good. Overall, I would definitely come back and am confident in recommending this to a diner in the Cambridge area.

After the stress of studying for exams finally ended, my friends and I escaped to this cute little place in Harvard Square. I am kind of a newb when it comes to Indian food, but this was some of the best I’ve ever had. The nan was so fluffy! Like soft little pillows of magic. :) Their Kadhai Paneer was also delicious. Tart tomato flavor and creamy cubes of cheese? Yes, please! For those of you that like spicy food, I ordered it pretty spicy and still could have handled more. They are definitely on an American level of spicy. Also got a Fuzzy Cosmopolitan, which was delicious. It’s super sweet — that’s how I prefer my drinks, but warning for anyone that doesn’t like sweet cocktails. The prices a la carte are pretty steep, but there’s a 15% discount for students. :)

By far this is my favorite indian restaurant in cambridge /boston(but in non-indian perspective so it’s your judgement on authenticity) I loved every single curry i had. The price is bit higher compared to other places but they def give you a lot(with unlimited rice) I usually take a full lunch portion back home so in the end I am not paying more. I would love to come here again for biggest groups if I make a reservation ahead of time.

One of the most classy Indian restaurant in greater Boston area. Their buffet is above average as compared to many other Indian restaurants in the area but I would highly recommend to go their for e la carte during non buffet hours(after 3pm most days). Their appetizers are delicious and their entrees are sumptuous. Highly recommended by an Indian food lover.

My very favorite Indian restaurant ever. Whenever I’m in Boston I make it a point to visit here. Everything is amazing and I just wish I could go to The Maharajah anytime :(

I love this place! I went here for lunch because they have a very reasonable $ 12 weekend lunch buffet. They had 10 types of curry(with multiple meat and vegetarian options), balsamic rice, rice pudding, and other indian specialities. I think naan, mango lassi, and other traditional sides cost extra but there is plenty of food at the buffet to keep you full. The restaurant itself has really nice décor and the service is friendly.

Absolutely delicious. We went for dinner and the food and service were top notch. Not only that, but the restaurant’s décor was beautiful and interesting, and the location(on the 2nd floor, overlooking Harvard Square) can’t be beat. Parking can be a little tricky to find, but that’s true for anyplace in Harvard Square. But this place is worth it. I had a vegetarian combo and every dish was amazing. And the naan bread was hot, light, and perfectly baked. Love this place.

Delicious, yummy, and just yummy. Had a hankering for Indian food and we decided to come here. Customer service was great. The restaurant was very busy and they did well with making sure that all patrons were being taken care of. I do think that using open table in the future could help with managing reservations. I had a reservation for 8:30 and I had to wait about 15 – 20 minutes because a table was lost. I was fine with that as I was waiting for Josh to arrive anyway. Totally cool. Food: appetizers included vegetarian samosas and aloo paratha. Entrees included paneer and shrimp vindaloo with rice. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. We didn’t get dessert because we were super full. We had a lovely table by the window that overlooked Harvard Square. Thanks Maharaja for a lovely date night! Thanks for being open again :)

Glad this place finally opened up after nearly a year of being closed down. Apart from the slightly long wait for service and food to arrive on a Monday evening, the food did not disappoint at all. Ate here a couple times last year, food lives up to the expectations this year as well. One of the better and authentic India food places around town.

Hi. we went to maharaja a week before and this reasturant is good. Food was good but prices are high. Service is good. Location is very good. Go for window seat . We ordered nargis kofta curry. Onion kulcha Goat biryani Everything was good. But food is not spicy. Food is good for american palate. For Indian palate we have to tell them to make ot spicy. Over all food is very good.

Chicken Tikka Masala is tough and the naan has been left out. Over all good ambiance and friendly. The tandoori chicken is old chewy and has harsh any meat on bones, should be called tandoori chewy bones. Limited menu for such average quality food.

Good food and an indian buffet with great variety! I came here for Saturday lunch once and participated in the buffet. They had your normal options — chicken tikka masala, paneer, etc. — that were well executed but what I really enjoyed were the items that aren’t at your average buffet. Pani puri station, and freshly made bhel — mmm delicious! I didn’t bother trying the dosas though because a lot of places I’ve been to make the dosas fresh for you and these ones were pre-wrapped and laid out but at least the offered the option. Would definitely come back for the variety!

While visiting Boston we decided on Indian and found this restaurant located close to Harvard. I’ve been to India many times so I’m aware of what authentic Indian food should taste like. This restaurant isn’t the fanciest but it was nice and clean. There was a good amount of Indian people eating which is always a good sign. The aromas were amazing and took me right back to my journeys throughout India! We ordered Bhyriani, chicken tikka masala, pooris, garlic naan, Peshwari naan and s shrimp curry. The flavors were wonderful and everything was delicious!!! I highly recommend this restaurant

It has reopened now. Used to absolutely love this restaurant in the past. Doesn’t have the same glory yet but it is better that rest of the Indian restaurants in Boston. In a way the bast Indian restaurant in Boston. Good location, sit by full sized Windows and do people watching. You can spend whole afternoon relishing your food and the views. Good quantities, good taste, okay service. Good place when you feel like eating Indian. Also their menu might say 2.90 for chai and they would charge you 3.50, be ready for that. They forgot to charge for our raita, be ready for that too! :) I would come back, after all it’s the best Indian food in Boston.

My favorite Indian Place in Boston for sure. The food here is good the service is great and the variety of dishes you can order is amazing. We got the chicken tikka masalla and it was delicious. We ordered it hot, to my taste it could have been a tad hotter but the house hot sauce did the trick once I ordered it on the side. The garlic naan was really nicely seasoned and the rice was out of this world good(its not as easy as it seems to cook rice well.) I am happy this place is back and as good as ever. Will come back for the lunch buffet.

My fav Indian restaurant! They were closed for a year because of a fire. They just re-opened and we’re so happy. Great value and the best Indian around.
