Don’t support a pizzeria that abuses illegal immigrant workers who have nowhere to turn.

This place has literally the worst customer service I have ever experienced. My boyfriend has a groupon so we decided to spend it before the extra value expired: impossible! They never pick up their phone(I’ve called repeatedly for about a week), they close earlier than their posted hours and have online ordering on their site that isn’t working. They’re losing so much business! I want a refund on the groupon, and I may complain to the better business bureau although it may not even be worth it.

This is the worst pizza chain in Boston. Back when these places opened, it was kind of a fun novelty to have a glass of wine with your pizza. The pizza wasn’t terrible back then either. But how is this place still in business? Half the time the pizza comes out burned. It’s always dry, limp and greasy. Bluh. I haven’t had worse pizza than this in Boston. The Upper Crust is rock bottom. Plus, the management is extremely shady and treated its employees like dirt.

The upper crust’s Harvard location is a solid option for a quick piece of pizza. The pies here are thin and delicious. They have a rotation special pizza of the day(call or check the website) that can be a reason to stop in. Dining in isn’t my favorite option here as the place is small and there aren’t many tables. Great bet for takeout!

soggy crust on my slice of the day that I had in house, straight from the oven… when I had it previously, I always thought the crust was soggy b/c my friends had only ordered it carry out. I stand corrected, and I won’t be back.

Not impressed. The crust was too thin, and when you picked it up the pizza could not hold its own. Definitely not NY style, anyone else that says that is a LIE, and does not know what NY pizza is. Never again.

The pizza is not bad, if you have a lot of time on your hands. One day I spent two hours waiting for a delivery pizza. After calling and complaining twice, they included a $ 10 gift card with my delivery. Today I decided to use the gift card, and spent 45 minutes waiting for a pizza(dine-in) that they told me would be ready in 15 — 20 minutes. I won’t be going back.

I walked by this place last night and almost did what I usually do when I see NY style pizza outside of NY — roll my eyes, wish I was back in NY, let my mouth salivate, and then find something else to eat. BUT, I had to have my fix and I had a feeling I could live with the guilt of eating crap pizza and my longing for another trip to NYC to rectify what I had done. I ordered a slice of the day(mozzerella & tomato) as well as a cheese slice. They came out quickly. These babies were huge! I didn’t know how to eat one. I was like, should I grab a fork and knife and go white table cloth or roll this up and just throw it back? I wasn’t sure so I started off with a fork and knife. The pizza just wouldn’t cut b/c it was so thin! So, I then rolling it up and took a bite. The problem there was that I was missing out on the flavors. Sure, I was eating delicious pizza but I wasn’t relishing in all the oils and cheese and cholesterol. I resorted to tiny bites until I could break off larger chunks. It wasn’t filling having two slices but I was satisfied. I look forward to my next NY pizza craving and will prepare a better course of attack for next time!

You really need three hands to eat the pizza at Upper Crust, that’s how huge the slices are. It’d be great if said pizza tasted as good as it is humungous, though. I tried the slice of the day– grilled chicken, portabella mushroom and garlic. It certainly was tasty but it didn’t wow me. The crust is really thin, and I’m more of a thick– crust kind of girl. Even as far as thin crust goes, it was TOO thin. Surprisingly greasy, too. I’ve had better, way better, so I’m having some trouble understanding the«best pizza in Boston» claims that others are making. Maybe it was just an off day, or an off pizza, but I think I’d be more likely to hit up Pinocchio’s the next time I’m in Harvard Square and craving a slice or two.

People raved about this place in college, but if you’re coming from the Tri-state area like me, take it with a grain of salt. While certainly an upgrade over national chains, it’s still not up to par against the local elite type pizza place(think Pizzeria Regina North End). Better than Crazy Dough’s and with more fancy toppings, treat yourself if you have some extra money to burn, but don’t expect the best.

Upper Crust has the best pizza around — but I really wanted to take a moment to give them a 5 star customer service review. They ran into a delivery delay one saturday evening, and went out of their way to ensure my satisfaction — and I mean way out of their way. The manager at the Harvard Sq. location was friendly and totally took care of us. I’ll save you the details of the entire story — but long story short, best pizza, best customer service = my new goto pizza joint. Thanks Upper Crust :)

This place seems like a typical college pizza-by-the slice joint. I’ve definitely had better experiences in these kinds of pizzerias. But overall, this place is just okay. My friend and I were hungry, looking for some quick local eatery(I’m from out of town and he was showing me around), and this place kind of barely hit the spot. I had a vegetarian special which tasted good but maybe could have used a minute or two more in the oven. Crust was thin and flaky, cheese chewy and cheesey, toppings seemed fairly fresh, but the sauce could’ve used a bit more spicing up. The décor and dining area is quaint, clean, and homely. The cashier was friendly and the service quick. Probably would’ve looked for pizza(or lunch in general) somewhere else if given the choice again. But decent food if you’re looking for something cheap and quick. A step above Sbarro, I’d say.

Usually a fan but delivery guy came two hours after we ordered(quoted 45-minute wait time) and tried to deliver $ 50 worth of room temperature, soggy pizza Called manager three times throughout waiting period and upon delivery only for her to be unconcerned with our experience and put us on hold Won’t be seeing my business again

Upper Crust: It gets the job done. Located flush against Harvard’s Ed School, I’m eating this pizza at least once a week at catered events. My all time favorites are Hawaiian and the BBQ Chicken. So good. However, this is only if I’m not paying for it. For the prices they charge, there really is no value. It’s a thin crusted, floppy, skimpy toppinged pizza, and I can pound down at least $ 10 worth in about 5 minutes. At the rate I can kill one of these slices, it’s them who should be paying me. Great slices if you want a dainty experience. If you’re hungry, I’d take the same $ 3 and walk a few blocks to Pinnochio’s. You’ll leave warmer, cheesier, and happier.

This chain has a horrendous history of wage and hour violations. After not paying employees overtime, they were forced by the Department of Labor to pay $ 341,000 in back wages in a settlement. After that settlement, they apparently deducted these back wages from wages going forward and are now under investigation again. I was recently talking to another restaurant owner who knows the Upper Crust owners and thinks their business practices are even worse than what’s been reported(if that’s even possible). Don’t support this unethical business.

Heard about the good pizza here. So a friend and I decided to have it for lunch during our time in Harvard Square. From the outside, it was small but cute. The atmosphere of the place was warm and had a historical/Boston-ish feel to it. We decided to have the topping of the day, which was BBQ chicken. Each had slice and they were big. But once we started eating, the pizza itself was thin but delicious. Didn’t feel guilty since the thin crust/pizza meant lower carbs(Haha). I personally love thin crust pizza, so this place was perfect. Because the slice was big along with an extensive topping(protein!), I was full… but satisfied full… a good full. :) Definitely a place I would like to come back to for some good, thin crust pizza. Can’t wait to try their other toppings!

Great place to go for a pizza by the slice! Every time I travel to Boston, Upper Crust is always on my list of eats. This time when when we went the pizza du jour was pineapple & prosciutto… yummmmm, but I can’t imagine anything coming out of this place to be bad.

My fellow Chicago Unilocalers may wrinkle their nose in disappointment, but I really enjoy pizza so much more on the East Coast. Yeah, I said it. The East Coasters know where it’s at when it comes to their crispy thin crust pizza. And it doesn’t get much better than pizza from The Upper Crust in Boston. I stared with a slice of the MGH pizza topped with all sorts of veggies and feta cheese. Thank goodness I live hundreds of miles away or I wouldn’t fit in my pants. If I lived nearby I’d insist on daily visits to The Upper Crust. Oh, and the crust of this pizza was really awesome! My colleagues probably didn’t appreciate the pieces I left in the box with the missing crust, but I just couldn’t help myself!

We stopped in before going to the Brattle theater on Friday night and I’m so glad I did!!! The pizza was outstanding!!! I just had the regular cheese and it was really delicious. I wish I ordered one of the more fancier pizza. but I was just in an «ordinary» mood that day! You can order this special salad and a slice here too, I think it’s like 6.95. My friend got that. She loved it! I loved the pizza pans on the ceiling it was so cool! It’s really clean inside and really fun! It has a bunch of flat screen t.v.‘s and the guys that work there are actually very nice, too! We sat at the counter and watched them making the pizzas. The bathroom was really clean, too and smelled like watermelon! Made sooooo want some watermelon! I tole the guy at the counter. he thought it was pretty funny. it didn’t get me any free watermelon. but ah, hey. I got a really good pizza!
