We just moved to the area a few months ago and we have been looking for a sushi place. For us this place is the best by far. I have celiac disease and they have clearly marked GF options!!! A big plus for me. It has been years since I have had a fish fry and they make a GF one that was so yummy that I would not have known it was GF. We will be regulars here!!! Also the staff is has been very helpful and very friendly.

A bif pricey, but some good deals in the $ 10 to $ 14 price range. I had the number 1 Bento box(pictured). My wife had the standard fish and chips. The tea was good, the miso salad fresh, crunchy and delightful, and their honey spicy chicken was perfect, also came with fried zuchini, and brocolli, and rice. Portions on both meals were substatial. Resturant has a nice ambience. The cheesecake was unusual but good, with a crust. The service was good.

My husband and I love sushi and have gone to Sky Sushi a few times but decided to try Kobe in Cameron Park because it was so close to our home. We were both surprised by the service, the attention to detail on the plaes, as well as the freshness of everything we ordered. Not only was this place comparable to Sky Sushi in quality, but the prices were really much more reasonable. We are so excited to find this place so close to home and we will be coming here quite often.

We had my 30 birthday dinner here. Wow! There were 12 of us and we sat in the private room, had amazing service, and fantastic food. Everything is reasonably priced. I had the recommended sashimi plate and a roll. Other friends got non– sushi dishes and were very happy with their meals as well. So happy to have a place like this close to home. Highly recommend for any meal.

Terrible. I never write reviews(really) but just spent $ 50 on lettuce wraps, two maki style rolls and some miso soup. The lettuce wraps were supposed to have chicken, mushrooms and a sauce. Sounded nice, light fresh. Chicken and mushroom mix was greasy, overcooked and crisped with burnt flavor, basically what you would expect from burnt shrapnel on edges of Mexican ground beef or chicken. Salty, zero freshness, some kind of fried thin noodle things. Basically $ 9 for some lettuce. Sushi was fishy, drowned in multiple sauces, one of which was on both rolls and tasted like simple or maple syrup, some of the worst rolls I’ve ever had. Miso was fine. Just threw away about $ 40 worth of the dinner and preparing to make something else. Guess I should have been keen to the fact that this place claims to do burgers, sushi, and whatever else. If you want to spend $ 50 on a bowl of miso soup like this idiot did, go for it.

Ate here back in July of 2015.(Forgot to finish this review) No idea how this place has 4 stars. Wonton soup was made with the same potstickers we had for our appetizer. Fish and chips were clearly frozen, didn’t have any crunch, and had zero taste. Owner claimed they were all fresh and made with a «ground potato» batter. If you google ground potato battered fish, the only thing that shows up is gordon’s fisherman frozen fish fillets. Pretty much everything with our meal was sub-par and hardly worth the value. I seriously felt like we were in an episode of kitchen nightmares with the way the owner was acting compared to the quality of the food.

ILOVE this place! They always treat us like family… Monica and James are always eager to please and so creative with the menu. The wasabi Shu Mai is an absolute must try and the Bento box is plenty of food to feed two. Probably the best food in the city.

We were surprised by how good the food and service were here. Tried a few of the daily specials-saba-is hard to get fresh, and it was good, and grilled octopus salad-grilled quickly, not rubbery at all. Sashimi portions were large and fish tasted fresh. Bulgogi had good flavor, wish the pieces of meat were cut larger though, super tiny pieces. A little pricey, but I’m glad we tried it and we will go back.

I’m actually offended by this place. We asked for kobe beef steak cooked medium and they served us overcooked, super well done, hard-to-chew steak. .with ketchup and french fries. I actually wanted to substitute my regular fries with sweet potato fries but instead got the regular fries and a side of sweet potato fries. I wasn’t expecting a super high class meal for $ 19, but what they did to that nice piece of kobe beef was just downright disrespectful. The manager, bless his heart, told me he wouldn’t have ordered the steak and wants to take it off the menu. Thanks dude! Wtf?! The name of the restaurant is KOBE Surf ANDTURF! They tried to make up for it by taking the side of sweet potato fries off the bill but I actually enjoyed those so why take those off, take the steaks off. If you come here, my advice is to stay away from the«turf» and maybe try your luck with the surf.

Dissapointed had a tofu stirfry that was scorching hot which means they microwaved it. I also ordered the sweet potatoe fries they were not what we expected and tasted horrible. They looked like the store bought fries that you get out ofthe freezer isle.

Went in for a late lunch and ordered the two rolls for 11. No full rolls. Just 5 pieces put together to make one full roll. When you put on menu two rolls for one price you should give what you state. Sorry won’t be coming back to this cheap place.

I have to admit I was very surprised about this place. We’re very picky about our sushi and this place rocked it. I will admit it is pricier than other good spots, but for a rural area I’m willing to pay the price. The wait staff is EXCELLENT and it probably has to do with the very friendly owners who talk to the customers. The wait staff answered all our questions(but one was a trainee learning the ropes). They definitely have their regulars b/c the know them by name. The chef absolutely takes pride in his quality. This is a place worth checking out. Will come again.

This place is ok, but the prices are insanely out of proportion to what you get. Took my mom here for her birthday and the bill was over 100 dollars! We didn’t even get alcohol! Sorry but there are much cheaper places to eat and even a sushi place that is way cheaper with better quality food. Avoid this place if you’re on a budget.

The bento box choices were delicious! The staff is friendly and polite, food plating is gorgeous, and the food itself looks to be the highest quality and just delicious. I’d definitely come back for any meal, 5 stars!

3.5 Stars. Restaurant was in a cute area of town I’ve never been before. Service was very nice and friendly. My eel handroll was yummy. My other two rolls were just okay. One was drowned in tempura crunches. The fish was not fishy! Their sauce and salad dressing is heavy on the mayo which isn’t always a good thing. BD really enjoyed his chicken teriyaki. The kid’s sesame chicken was dry and hard. The cheesecake was delicious but the fried parts were hard and tasted like grease. The melon bar is interesting and great for hot days. Overall we’re glad we stopped by and I’m willing to try it out again because I LOVESUSHI!!!

On a very hot day recently we found ourselves in Cameron Park. I relied once again on my faithful Unilocal app to find something other than a chain restaurant or fast food. Based upon the reviews I knew that Kobe would be in an odd mall but nobody warned me it would have ‘fake fronts’ made to look like an old tyme town. There was even a miniature train that circles the ‘square’ although it wasn’t running on this day. We walked in and found this place to be huge. There is the main dining room in the front and a sushi bar in a separate room. Our server was very friendly as was the host(owner?). We started with the Garlic Edamame which was delicious and reminded me of Ozumo. We also had Unagi Nigiri, Sake Nigiri, Amaebi, the Hurricane roll with Spicy tuna & Shishito Peppers, Tuna, Avocado, Scallions & Tobiko, and a 49ers roll with Snow Crab and Avocado, Tuna & Salmon with sauces on the side. Everything was very fresh and tasty which was quite surprising given where we were. The only off moment of the evening happened when I asked if they had soju and was told they did. Did I want one or two? So I said one. Rather than in a glass with some ice out comes this green bottle and a sake cup. What? They call it the green monster. I had a little and left the bottle as it really wasn’t very good. They also honored the 10% coupon that I had received from the hotel. Score! Overall we had a wonderful experience and will definitely return.
