Where O’ where do I start! First off, the antique shops around here are amazing! So, here we are shopping and noon hits and we start debating where to eat. We asked a shop owner and he recommended Dewberry deli which is located in an antique shop. The atmosphere is so amazing! It’s like an old 50’s soda shop. I loved it! Now, they have orangeade and lemonade which is fresh squeezed! The food, the depot and general store sand which’s were delicious! If you are in the area you must stop by and have lunch! Service was excellent! Lots of positive spirits!

Charm. That’s what this place has, what a hidden gem located inside of an old antique shop– there’s history all around the place. My personal favorite is the Bank and Teller. I’m a sucker for a good Cherry Coke, and I haven’t found one better. If you’ve never had a Cherry Smash, I suggest that as well. For dessert? Dewberry Cobbler is a must, locally grown and an inexpensive treat. Just a nice little soda fountain to grab a sandwich, you won’t regret it.

I’ve driven by the Dewberry Deli and Soda Shoppe for years and have wanted to stop, but there’s been no real reason. That is until this past weekend. It was a halfway meeting point for us and a friend of ours, and I was very pleased. This is seriously, the ONLY restaurant in Cameron to eat and it caters very well to the clientele that visit this little town. Cameron is know for antique shops, and the Deli is attached to one in an old house. The restaurant is cute, clean and the food is VERY fresh and tasty. I expected a greasy spoon type of place, but that luckily was not the case. They had fresh salads on the menu, sandwiches, and even actual entrees for order. I had a chicken breast meal with bacon, cheese and tomato, and it came with a scoop of potato salad, roll and side salad. Total cost? $ 8. Not too bad. Their desserts and sodas looked delicious too, but I didn’t splurge on the calories for that. I would totally go back for a visit. The only downside is — they only take cash or checks. NO debit or credit cards. So plan in advance!

We came here during Cameron’s Winter Fest which turned out to be chilly with a fair amount of heavy, wet snow. Inside was a nice little restaurant that connected by way of stairs to the antique shop above. We started with a cup each of the tomato bisque which was the special for the day. It was hot and creamy and just about perfect considering the weather outside. For main courses I had the Jailhouse and she had the County Seat, both of which arrived piled high with meat. I thought the roast beef on my Jailhouse was a bit overdone, but it was still tasty and my wife said her County Seat was pretty close to perfect. Service was friendly and our glasses never got more than half-empty before being refilled. If there’s any knock against the place it’s that they don’t take plastic, but that’s just the way it is.

Dewberry Deli is quaint and seemingly offers an unique experience. However, I found the meals to be slightly overpriced and lacking in quality. I ordered half of their«famous» chicken salad on wheat with a small side salad. The sandwich had a skimpy portion of chicken salad, barely enough for a taste! I ordered water when I was first seated at the deli and proceeded to drink most of it before my order came due to the 90+ degree weather today. The waitress walked past me five times and never once refilled my glass. Another waitress walked to every single patron in the deli and offered to refill their drinks and asked them how they were doing; she passed my table right by never once looking at us. My brother and I were the only people in the deli under the age of 30, and I feel that we were discriminated against for this. Times are difficult right now and because of that I wanted to give a local business our money while we were in the area. It’s a shame that I regret doing that and an even bigger shame that I will not be returning. **I have since contacted the owner who was very humble and apologetic about our experience. He offered a full refund as well as a gift certificate. This greatly raises the establishment in my opinion and I am willing to give the restaurant another try.
