Winery is closed most of the year. Charged me twice after cancelling membership wine is not priced proportionally for quality.

Unfortunately, this winery is not what it was in the past,(which was excellent). Our last pickup(in the fall) was the«Duover» red blend, which has been good in the past. This batch was«hot»(from the high alcohol level), had a burned raisin taste and wasn’t drinkable, for us, anyway. We poured four bottles down the drain. Sad loss of a formerly great winery. Hope you can pull it back Tom, we really do.

Terrible experience. As stated in other reviews, they were out of most wines yet charged us $ 5 each for tasting. The merlot we tasted was subpar to others we had that day, yet 4 times as expensive. Not a good deal. The other tasting was a port. The chocolate they paired with the port was… wait, that’s right they offered no food pairings at all. After our measly tastings, the relatively uninformed person pouring the wines ask us how the port compared to the merlot. What? Who compares a merlot to a port? We were as nice as we could be and asked if they would discount the tasting given they were out of most wines. No deal, just an offer for a $ 5 discount on a bottle of merlot that could have been the genesis of the famous Sideways comment. Paul Giamatti — did you visit this winery? With such poor customer service and mediocre, over-priced wine, how does this place still exist?

Gorgeous grounds. A great place to spend a cozy afternoon, and enjoy some wonderful wine!

This was the worst wine tasting experience ever! I was with my friend from out of town and we were offered 1…1 tasting! AND had to pay full price. Regardless of wines being sold out, it is SO inappropriate to charge your customers for full price of wine tasting when you aren’t able to taste. This should have been told to us from the beginning because we would have left. The lack of customer service astounds me as I work in customer service and couldn’t imagine doing this. I will not be recommending his winery. Just FYI give your customers the info up front– it’ll work out better in the long run.

So disappointed. We were really looking forward to trying this winery. They were out of 3⁄5 wines. Only tasted 2 but yet was still charged for a 5 wine tasting. Cute décor however don’t charge your customers for something they aren’t receiving… misleading to say the least! Never again there are more well rounded and STOCKED and FREE tasting elsewhere on the hill.

Stopped in on a weekday and the place was pretty empty. They were out of all but two wines. We tried one — a Merlot — because the other was a port — not really into ports. They charged us $ 5 each per tasting fee for ONE taste of the merlot. Ridiculuos! If you have nothing to taste, then don’t be open for tasting and certainly don’t charge a full tasting fee. The merlot wasn’t very good. I dumped it and asked«how much do I owe you?» since she had said they were out of everything else, and I was shocked when she said, «The tasting fee is $ 5 each.» Really? Absurd. A rip off. In fact, I’d say it goes so far as to potentially be illegal(representing initially a full tasting without up front saying, «I’m sorry, we’re out of almost everything, but if you still want to taste, I can give you what you have and still have to charge you full price.»

Steve N., I’m with you!!! Two years, no wine!!! I’ve left messages, but no one calls back. It’s odd that they can’t call back or ship the wine, but the charge to my credit card continues uninterrupted.

We used to love it here. now it’s been 2 years of paying for wine that we havent recieved, I have texted Tom Brown my wife has called to try to get it shipped, always the same«we will ship it immediately. well it been over 2 weeks and nothing .It doesnt matter how much you like the wine if they are never available for pick up and apparently arent going to ship it either

Brook Y hit it on the head. Snooty. We threw in pompous too. Another person mentioned unwelcoming. Exactly. The guy boasted how they are a private winery with over 1,000 members and how all their wine sells out, yada, yada. So why are you open if you’re private? Three wines to taste for $ 5.00 and none were that good. Not a good winery.

Our last spot wine tasting for the day. Only had three wines to taste, charged $ 5. Didn’t even have a Zinfindel in. The server was brand new and knew nothing of the wines or even the vineyard. Avoid, and check out Lava Cap instead, they’re amazing!

Gigi & I were recently gifted a bottle of ParaVi’s 2009 Syrah by a friend. Being primarily«white winers,» we put it aside for a special guest. That happened last night with a friend of ours who is sort of a wine snob. Telling him I knew nothing about the wine and had never tasted it, and fearing the worst, I poured it for him. It was an unbelievable response! Eyes rolled back in his head, he said it was the best Syrah he ever tasted. .. in fact, and one of the best reds ever! He even insisted on taking the bottle(empty) with him so he could acquire more! We’ll now pick up a case to have on hand whenever we want to look sophisticated! All the best! The wines here are are bold and full bodied. Just like the region they are located in. If your looking for a superficial white wine… Try napa. The $ 5 tasting fee is minimal for the amount they pour. Tastings are complimentary with purchase. The grounds are fantastically suited for families of all ages. From the kids playground to the bocce court to the deck with the BBQ. Bring a picnic or Q up some burgers. Make a day of it! Without the hassle of going to the overpriced, over crowded valley near the bay. Concerts on the hillside happen throughout the summer. Special events are held with each wine release. The Cab Franc is a must have!

Nice place for a day trip from Sacramento. The staff were friendly but frankly they push joining their wine club so much that there was hardly any variety on wine to try at the place. Probably just time of year but I’d call before visiting.

This winery is hands down the hidden gem of Apple Hill. You spend the entire day tasting apple tart after apple tart but when you come to Para Vi you know that wine is the true calling of the foothills… wine. You can tell that the staff is passionate about their wine and know everything there is to know about it. If you’re looking for a fantastic red wine try the Cab Franc. It’s amazing. Tom will guide you through each tasting and tell the story behind each wine. If you want to enjoy lunch bring a picnic and sit on the deck and don’t forget to play a round or two of bocce ball. Overall, this is the best winery this side of Napa County hands down. I’d be willing to say that you could include Napa County and it would still be my favorite.

I have come here every Apple Hill trip for the last four or five years. It’s close to my favorite orchard and I always enjoy visiting the grounds. Truth be told, though, I always get kind of a snooty vibe from the place, as opposed to feeling really comfortable and welcome. The wines are good; this trip I was hoping to pick up a bottle, but then took a look at the prices and remembered why I never do. Not worth dropping $ 60 bucks on a bottle, but the five dollar tastings are fine.

A winery with a kids play structure, nice bocce court and a cascading terrace of green fields with plenty of open space outdoors to roam. We came on a Sunday and it was very quiet. The tasting fee is $ 5/ea. and the wines here are greater than $ 50/ea. for mediocrity. I wasn’t impressed by any of the wines tasted(No whites… Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc and Port). Overall, this is a family oriented winery and the people here are very friendly towards kiddos. I wanted so bad to enjoy the wines, but couldn’t even muster up justification to purchase a bottle!
