Beautiful campground and fantastic staff!
Casey, the owner, was very helpful in setting up the reservation and accommodations in the snow. He welcomed us at the door and waved goodbye. His personal touch made the trip just that much better

No review on the current owners… just to let people know how the current facility compares to how it used to be.
Stayed here in 1990 & 1998. The place was not well kept, some of the facilities were not working, permanent trailers were not in good shape. One night a biker crowd came in about 10:30 at night, was loud and partying and the management did nothing to correct the situation. Chose not to stay here again until recent when we found it to be under new ownership. A very pleasant change!

Applegate, CA
This was a blessed relief after we escaped from the noisy hell of Yosemite’s Hodgden Meadows, especially as we were able to get a spot for our VW Van here on a Saturday night. The camp host (owner was not around) was extremely friendly and gave us lots of site choices. The park has very clean restrooms and showers (takes 3 or 4 quarters), if a bit dated, and a good laundromat and it was completely quiet at night. It looks like it has a lot of permanent trailers, but they are all under wood awnings and look nice, and are probably summer cabins as no one was around in early May. This is a great place to stop if you want to spend a day at Calaveras Big Trees, which we did, it is only like 2 miles away. With Good Sam (or AARP or AAA) discount the full hookup site was only $ 41.
This is probably a crap place to stay if tent camping as there are only out-​houses and kind of exposed and not that level, plus a tent spot is $ 40 versus $ 45 for full hookup (without discounts).

Update from 2÷8÷15: Ok… well, I guess they must have agreed with me that telling me I can «take a dump at the State Park instead» was a «less than classy» reply because they edited their reply to me to make it look like they actually cared. Good job!

Well, I have to update my 2 star to a 1 star now since the owner replied (below) and left a less than classy response. Just proves he lacks the customer service skills I previously spoke about! Funny thing is, the owner is a bit older. I would expect this response of his from a much younger individual. I guess you are who you are, huh?! If this is how he treats his customers that have a less than desirable experience, better be careful if you review him cause he just may tell you to go to hell. I will leave it at that. As always… stay classy! Smh
