Garage One Subaru Workshop

I was having problems with my 2011 Impreza WRX (check engine light) and initially brought it to Capitol Subaru. I was not happy with the way they handled my issue, so I just paid for the diagnosis (no repair) and brought it over to Garage One for an independent assessment. The dealership pointed out I had excessively dirty engine oil (recommended oil change) and the clutch should be replaced soon. I had to fight to get all this in writing, so that I would be able to compare it to an independent assessment.
A couple days later, they called back saying the check engine light wasn’t on. I got Subaru American involved and they said it can go off but the codes should be there, so I had them check again. There was no code that could be read either. However, they went ahead and completed diagnosis and found that my battery needs replacing. I gave them a go-​ahead. They also asked if I could bring the copy of the diagnosis result I got from the dealership. I emailed it to them immediately.
This morning I went to pick up my car and requested a copy of the result of the diagnosis. I was told there is nothing they can give me. I double-​checked with them that for $ 150 diagnosis, there is nothing other than the $ 150 receipt they could give me. I went out and checked the engine oil, which was still dirty. I went back and asked if it was checked as part of the diagnosis and if so how come they didn’t mention it. I was told that because the check engine light wasn’t on, it wasn’t part of the diagnosis (or she may have said it wasn’t part of recommendations since the check engine light wasn’t on.) I’m still confused as to what I paid $ 150 for, if certain recommendations were withheld due to it being not a check-​engine diagnosis.
I did not find Garage One’s business to be transparent. I am not satisfied with their service and will not be coming back.

Wife’s car experienced all warning lights on or flashing. 2010 Subaru Outback was near a 97,000 mi service interval. Dealer couldn’t take the car for a week so I thought — lets try Garage One. THIS WAS A BIG MISTAKE!
First, they gave my wife a diagnostic that said she needed to replace her lightbulbs throughout the car. It appeared professional, but it didn’t diagnose the problem at hand.
Second, I did some research on the web and found that if the gas cap is loose you will get all dash warning light on. I’m sure most Subaru garage’s know this and is a easy correction. My wife indicated she may have not have clicked the gas cap the day before these flashing dash lights.
Third, my wife got a work estimate for nearly $ 975 which included $ 135 diagnostic, replacing the serpentine belt $ 84, radiator hoses $ 266, CVT transmission fluid $ 343, and then the standard 97K service $ 108. This was delivered on Friday afternoon and they close at 5PM.
Fourth, Monday morning my wife and I went back to Garage One and asked if they have found the problem with the lights and they said we needed to do this work. I asked how does any of this relate to the flashing dash warning lights? No clear response. Also, I asked to see the wear on the serpentine belt and hoses. Looking at with the tech there was no indication of issues suggested. At this point I wanted my car back and not get in a argument with them and paid the $ 135 diagnostic fee and took it to Stevens Creek Subaru.
Stevens Creek Subaru quoted the cost for a 97K service at $ 70, CVT transmission fluid replacement $ 122 and we had one right rear brake light out. Total cost with discount was $ 205. Steven Creek Subaru said the serpentine belt and radiator hoses checked out OK.
Never will I go back to Garage One. These guys appear to be scammers… Be aware.
Garage One, if you are honorable you should refund a good portion of that $ 135 «diagnostic» I paid for nothing.

Happened to run across Garage One by pure luck and have been a long time customer due to the amazing service, knowledge and care of my Subaru! This is a family-​owned shop and I have watched them expand and continue the same great service, it is a pleasure to see their success. I always 100% trust the information given, the diagnostics are fully explained and the estimates of costs accurate. Recommendations and options are thorough so customers can make solid decisions, the time frame to complete the work is on target. I have since moved and miss their clean and pleasant waiting area and their flexibility in taking me to the light rail. The really cool thing was I did find a shop in my new location close to my home, in my search I visited two shops, they both commented how well-​cared for and maintained my Subaru was! Over 268,000 miles! Thank you Garage One Auto!

First time here, and will be back again and again for any major service. I had to replace the short block on my STI, so I had it towed to their shop, they accepted my vehicle without me having to come with it. Agnes gave me an estimate the following day and I had them start the work on it. Even though GARAGE ONE was busy and on a holiday schedule, the turn around time was less than two weeks. I am very pleased with the service and glad I found a shop I can trust with my baby.

I’ve finally found Garage worth going to. Quick turn around, painless and very fair prices. It took me a while to get over the fear of not getting work done at a dealership but it was just because it took me too long to find Garage One. Don’t waste your time with the dealership and go here.

If you’re looking for a reliable and reputable place to take in your Subaru, this is the place. This is the 2^nd time I’ve taken my Sti in for service. The 1^st time was they had repaired my brakes, rotors, calipers, pads etc. Agnes was very communicative throughout the process letting me know what needs to be done. The 2^nd time was for my 60k service and overall it was the same excellent service. I like how Agnes calls, emails and text to give me the detail inspection report on how my Sti is performing, a definite plus on communication. I will definitely be coming back to Garage 1 for service. Agnes Rocks and so do the mechanics. Thanks again Garage 1

If you drive a Subaru and love it as much as I do, you will probably feel as fortunate as I did to discover this shop.
Just from talking to Agnes about suspension and exhaust modifications for my newly purchased outback XT was enough to build trust. So when my other outbacks clutch died two weeks ago, they were my first call $ 1062 out the door for a new clutch is a steal. Considering other shops in the willow Glenn area wanted 13 – 1500 for the same job.
Best thing is the fact they actually ca you to update you on progress and when the car is done.

Great place to get my BRZ serviced. Staff is friendly and gave me a ride to and from work so as to save me time. Followed up afterwards with a phone call to make sure the vehicle was doing well. These guys clearly care about their customers. I really like that they have the online checklist showing the status of the vehicle. I’ll be back!

Excellent shop. I’ve taken my 05 Forester XT to this shop a few times, for large issues that I can’t diagnose or have the time to work on myself. Garage One has always done a top notch job and always uses oem or better quality parts. They are quick to follow up with customers and from my experiences have always finished the jobs quicker than I expected. I recommend them to anyone looking for a quality and trustworthy shop.

Makes dealing with a Subaru dealership service department feel like using a public restroom in a subway.
…and my experiences with Subaru dealers device departments has been pretty decent. But Garage One goes above and beyond. I’ve brought my Legacy to them twice and both times have been impressed with the service, rates, quality of work, and turnaround. The only reasons they don’t get five stars is the communication is sometimes slow (I like to know what’s going on with my car at all times), and the waiting area isn’t much beyond a few chairs in a room.

Excellent service, great expertise and honest opinions. Took a used car for a pre-​purchase inspection based on Unilocal reviews. Kinda of nervous at first, but once I met the owner I realized why all the accolades. Ended up not buying the car after discussing the service needed with the owner. I would definitely take my car to this workshop. Highly recommend Garage One Subaru.
