Our party of 7 had a fabulous time we were celebrating 2 birthdays. Our waitress Shannon was very polite and knowledgeable about the food and beer. We started off with the Red Dragon Crostini and Mixed Vegetable Pakora — both very good! We then each ordered an a dish and shared — Prime Bavette Steak Bites, Pork Belly, Bay Scallops, Braised Goat Pasta, Baked Alligator & Sea Island Red Peas and 38 North Chicken Breast. Everything was delicious! Pork Belly, Baked Alligator and 38 North Chicken were sweet savory and yummy! Steak Bites & Goat Pasta had a kick to them — so good! The bay scallops with spaetzle was so tender and tasty. We went on a Thursday night and the vibe was very relaxed. We had a great time and will definetly be back soon.

I’ve tried this place once before. Don’t know why it’s took me so long to come back. Favorite restaurant for sure! The chicken and waffles are incredible. Chicken is not fried and the waffles melt in your mouth like chicken in Rocoes down in LA. The burger is for sure now the best burger I’ve ever had in my entire life!!! Ok food coma gtg bye.

Im sorry to give them a 3 star after a year of continuous 5 stars, but they changed and so did my rating. 5 stars for the food/john the chef, 1 star for the proprietor and new policies. Called to make a reservation; the hostess told us there were no reservations, and that they wouldnt be taking them any more. Huh? We have made over 50 reservations over the past three years, what changed? Her story; we rearranged the tables so we have less seats, so no more reservations. Made no sense because who does that? Turned out she was wrong about the seats, but right about the no more reservations policy. But we went anyway since we are regulars and i knew they would take care of us. I was only partially right. The waiter told us the proprietor was taking a more active role, and that he was watching the cash flow. Makes sense, as they are always busy so they can throw out the reservation system and save a few bucks. But i have been there more often than him i suspect(thats only the third time i have seen him in three years) and they werent always that busy, UNTIL they turned on Open Table for reservations, so maybe he forgot that. A real shame since this was our favorite restaurant in the valley; great food, friendly staff, good location etc. But as we told him; they wont be seeing us again, because we dont have time to stand in line and hope a table opens up. He looked shocked, and said for regulars like us they had a mailing list they would put us on, «be right back». But he never came back, so i guess he either forgot about us or decided against it. So for us it is a sad farewell. Maybe during the week when they are dead will will give it a shot, but maybe not, since lifes too short to stand in line.

Love this place. GREAT menu and great beer selections too. I want to eat here at least once a week! It’s my new favorite! I think it would be awesome if I could come here and have the chef whip up something that is not on the menu for me so that I could eat here more often and never tire of the menu. Chef?! ;-)

This is a decent place to have a high priced beer on tap. I’m one to enjoy a craft beer, but not at 8.75 per. This is too much for me(principle) and will not return. The décor is just so/so and looks like it was hastily put together. I will go elsewhere the next time I’m in Campbell.

Dropped by here on a Saturday night around 5:30 with no reservations and the hostess was gracious enough to give us a reserved table as long as we are able to finish our meal before 7pm which was when the reserving party were due to arrive. +1 for being so accommodating! The food at Liquid Bread, in addition to being very good, is quite unique in that there’s a heavy international influence in the flavors and spices that can be found in their dishes. For Saturday’s dinner, we started with some Chicken Pâté, House-made Kimchi, Mixed vegetable Pakora and a Beef Heart Tamale. My favorites were the Pâté and Kimchi. The Pakora was a tad too sweet with the tamarind sauce but if you’re a fan of tangy sweetness sauce with your pakora, you’ll love it here. The Kimchi tasted the same as the mom and pop Korean restaurants you find in Korea Town in LA. Damn good stuff and the added octopus is different but adds a welcome texture with every bite, unlike your usual cabbage only Kimchi. I’ve love beef hearts and I love tamales and their Beef Heart Tamale didn’t disappoint. It’s basically grounded up beef hearts stuff inside a tamale. There is a grainy taste but it’s definitely a must try if you’re a fan of Beef Hearts. For our entrees, we ended up with the Braised Oxtail Rillette and the Mussels. The Mussels are served in a udon soup with octopus and chorizos. And the portions are huge. Our Saturday night dinner brought us flavors from Korea, India, Peru, France, and Japan. How awesome is that right? The wife and I both enjoyed our dinner here and the wait staff was amazing. We can’t wait to come back when we’re in the Campbell area again.

Love eating here! I am from Walnut Creek so whenever I am in the area I try to stop by. The food is delicious plus the drink menu does not suck. There is always something new to try and I have yet to be disappointed. They even have chicken and waffles for my boyfriend who isn’t as adventurous with his food. Also I just recently discovered the back patio, definitely has a different vibe from the inside but will be great to check out in the summer!

My only gripe is that how can you have a gastro-pub that doesn’t serve a Any type of French fry with their awesome burger. We came for the first time(with a reservation) on a Tuesday night for happy hour and half-priced wine bottles. The happy hour special is $ 3 off drafts, and $ 2 off of appetizers. So we had to try the appetizers right? We ordered the roast shishito peppers, pork belly, scallops, and red dragon crostini. They were all super tasty especially the shishito peppers with their fried onions. We then ordered the burger and mussels udon for entrees. The burger was quite good(excellent combo of flavors) although the sauce is a bit messy. I would have preferred some crispy fries to soak up the sauce but the herb potatoes were still good. The mussels with udon were well-prepared and tasty as well. Our server was great, checking in with us regularly and clearing tables quickly even though the bar was almost always full. Definitely a fantastic place to come for a happy hour. I’m not sure why it’s not rated more highly but I would definitely come back

Pros: — rotating menu of scrumptious food — rotating selection of delicious, local beers — extremely helpful staff — great value(decent portions for the price) — modern/trendy flavor profiles — awesome date place Cons: — often packed(but they take reservations) With a food menu titled«Masticate» and a drink menu titled«Quaff,» Liquid Bread sets high expectations for itself as a trendy, yuppie gastropub that it still manages to exceed. I’ve been here with friends at least 3 times for dinner, and it’s never disappointed. We always make reservations, sometimes the day of, and never had any trouble grabbing a spot. The layout is very modern with high tables and bar stools; spacing wise, it’s a cozy fit but you can definitely have a flowing conversation without yelling or asking«What did you say?» The wait staff is extremely knowledgable and helpful. Since their beer selection is local and seasonal, they’ll be out of some beers, but the wait staff is quick to recommend something similar. Their selection is IPA-heavy, but there’re a few smooth Hefe’s and ales. Their food selection remains much more stable than their drink selection, but there are one or two new additions every so often. I’ve had the Prime Bavette Steak cooked medium, and it was cooked perfectly, but the dish overall was a little heavy. All pieces of the steak were nicely seared and pink in the middle; each piece was juicy and flavorful. The potatoes and sauce tasted a bit buttery, which added to the heaviness. I feel like the snap peas and the mushrooms were supposed to balance the dish, but it fell a bit short. The Bone-In Pork Chop is masterful. The pork chop is cooked two ways – classical and charred – with a duet of sauces. The classic pork chop is a bit tougher, but the charred one has a stellar glaze and extremely juicy and tender. The yam mash and red cabbage bring a good balance to the meal in terms of textures and flavors; the cabbage has a springy crunch and slight acidity that cleanses and refreshes the palate, and the mash has a slight sweetness. The sauces, a slightly vinegary apple sauce and the homey liquid bread sauce play off each other very well, bringing a light, savory, umami flavor to the dish. Bottom Line: Make a reservation and take a detour to check this place out! A gastropub through-and-through, and one of the best in the area.

I have had mixed experiences here. I mainly love the concept and a lot of their exceptional selection of food and drink but some of their dishes have been way off in terms of flavor and digestibility. Great service. Great selection of beers. I love that they have a cask ale always on tap. That’s just amazing. Great hor’ devours — especially the meat pockets. One of the best burgers I have ever had. One time I had a pasta dish that was so spicy, I couldn’t eat it. It was inedible. But, what’s great is, that the service is great and the ambiance is fun and cozy and I just won’t order that dish ever again. I’ll be back for sure… mainly because of the beer menu…

I really can’t believe this place doesn’t have a higher rating. Not only does it stand out compared to the rest of Campbell, but for me, it’s actually a reason to visit the area. The beer is obviously the centerpiece of this place(obvious from the name). They’re really good about keeping their selection fresh and local. They also do a nice job of balancing across different types of beer. For example, I’m not a huge fan of the Belgians. Sometimes you visit a place where they have a giant selection of just Belgian beer, which makes it kind of inaccessible for the rest of us. Liquid bread doesn’t have this issue. Their food is novel and creative and doesn’t cost too much, but it’s certainly a small menu. I’d visit for beers and bites, but you’re not gonna have an amazing dinner at this place without having the stroke of luck that everyone in your party finds something they adore.

My friends and I ate here recently for my birthday. The food and service were great. One friend was a bit late so the waiter made sure to check on his frequently and take our drink orders while we waited. My friend needed help picking a beer and the waiter was very good about suggesting things and bringing samples. We started with the pork belly appetizer. It was yummy. Very flavorful pork, crisp skin but soft on the inside. It had pomegranates and tangerines and apples in it too. Yum! For entrees, my friend and I had the burger with no bun. My friend also had veggies instead of the potatoes. The restaurant was very accommodating with our changes. My burger was nicely cooked, some pink inside as I like it. Love the Béarnaise sauce on top. Good potatoes on the side. My other friend had the chicken and waffles. I tried a bite and it was delicious. Loved the waffle taste and the syrup on top. For dessert, I got a free ice cream for my birthday. I got the strawberry sorbet as it was dairy free. It was really tasty and refreshing. Good fruit flavor. My friends got the bread pudding and chocolate mousse. Both were delicious. the mousse had shortbread and salted caramel on top. So good. They had a great beer and wine selection and mixed drinks. Definitely a place I will come back.

We came here with friends. I found the service very attentive, although it seemed like all sorts of people were serving our table and taking our orders. Scallops were very good, and my husband and I ordered the burger and split it. It is a nice little restaurant, pretty laid back but I wouldn’t say family friendly. It has much more of a bar atmosphere.

Food and drinks are on the expensive side. We all ordered one drink and tried the oxtail appetizer. Drinks were tasty and semi strong. The food was ok. Dark lighting and small cozy place.

Came in with reservations for my boyfriends birthday. First time for all of us(which can be scary when it’s a special occasion, I don’t usually have good luck) Let’s start by saying Corey and and the whole staff were so nice and accommodating. We had 8 adults and two kids in our party. The kids were immediately greeted with bowls of fruit and had their orders taken. The kids had chicken and waffles. Excellent portion size. One member of our party was gluten free and they were able to accommodate her diet with gluten free beer and food. So with our two big worries out of the way let me say were all amazed by the food, excellent beer/wine selection, and SERVICE! Every single dish was a star. We all left extremely over the moon happy and will be back again. I’d love to pop into the bar next farmers market and see what’s up. Thank you Corey, chef, and staff!

Most amazing meal here and excellent service by Corey. It’s got a great ambiance not noisy so you can actually have a conversation. Huge selection of beers whiskey wine etc. Everything we had here had complex favors, plated well, and perfect portions. The SHISHITOPEPPERS were so unique with crispy enoki on top. PORKBELLY appetizer was cooked just right. A bit sweet. Loved the MUSSELS with crispy octopus and udon. My boy’s FISH(forgot what name) was AMAZING too. BREADPUDDING — so good with vanilla Heath bar gelato Will definitely be back here again. :)

Curious comfy food here! Their theme is primaries comfort food. Baked alligator and big island red peas was sold out! Bay scallops — got tiny scallops with oily mushroom and pasta pieces… Taste gets boring real quick Bone in pork chop — came on a bed of purple yam and cooked cabbage. There were two inconsistent pieces of pork chop, one small piece heavily seasons and one larger piece that was dried out! Russian River Chardonnay — dry and buttery Rose wine — too sweet! Boo, I was really looking forward to this place too!

OHMYGOD! I was sent here by my friend PCB aka Dewdrop. PCB reminds me of a dewdrop because she emanates a gentle strength, full of faith with a wicked sense of truthful humor, boy does she make me laugh. PCB told me to get one of everything because it is THAT good. Man alive she was right. I was catching up with fellow food fan HAH so I was with perfect company. Our lovely wait person, started us off with a recommendation of her favorite red wine a South American Red; Sur De Los Andes Bondara Classic 2011. She said she likes it because it goes well with everything. Besides that, who wouldn’t love a well versed, «Latin» join them for dinner. Two thumbs up and a big ‘ol smile for a delicious libation after a mediocre day at the 8 to 430er I kind of think the Browse section of the menu ought to be renamed Gorge but this simply does not sound food sexy. HAH and I ordered three of the six selections: Pork Belly, Stuffed Petrole Sole and Bay Scallops. Let’s put it this way… I will put in more cardio at the track to eat here again, and again, and again. The Pork Belly is by far the most decadent sinful bite of pure food goodness known to mankind. I very much appreciated the fresh slices of stone fruit to cut the richness but to go back and swirl the second bite in the ginger sauce was heaven. Stuffed Petrole sole. Who knew fish filets could looks so debonair wrapped around a German butterball of potato-y goodness? This seemed like two dishes in one as not all of the bites were even with sole and potato-y goodness but still very good. Bay Scallops… just pop a RomCom DVD in the player and let me be with this bowl of earthy, warm goodness. LOVED this dish. Every bite was delicious creamy goodness with perfect tender sweet scallops. Did I mention that I LOVED this dish? Mmmmmm And if life isn’t perfect enough… Pluot glazed donuts with candied coriander seeds on top. I shall say this it was the perfect finish to an elegant comfort meal. The donut was hot with just enough sweetness and the pluot glaze gave a nice contrasting zip of fresh fruitiness. Now, them candied coriander seeds… Ahhmazing! Whoever came up with this one is a freaking food genius. Love the food, Love the vibe, will definitely go back. Hell, I want to rent the whole place out for an event… Hmmmm better keep going with building my empire to drop the coins for this future event. Five Stars. Ps. I’m not fond of stem less wine glasses however every single glassware item sparkled. SPARKLED not a single spot on any of them. I hate spots on glassware especially when dining out. Love the attention to detail. Now I kind of like stem less glasses, go figure.

The husband and I were in the area trying to figure out where to eat when a random couple walking near us interjected and told us we HAD to hit up the gastropub, and to try the scallops, and chicken and waffles. They were so enthusiastic about it we went over and were seated right away. If I ever see that couple again I’ll buy them a drink, because this was a great find! We had: Bay scallops w/basil spatzle(I hope I spelled that right) and mushrooms — so flavorful! This was easily my favorite. Pork belly with stone fruit — we order pork belly everywhere we go and this did not disappoint. Chicken pâté — omg. I normally like my accompanying bread to be toasted but honestly this was so good that if it were socially acceptable, I would have been okay if all it came with was a spoon. Chicken & waffles — not your typical deep fried version(although ya girl loves that too), it was flavorful juicy chicken over collard greens, perfectly textured waffles, maple syrup and this garlicky gravy that reminded me of Filipino lechon sauce(in a good way). Clearly there was no room for dessert or any actual«liquid bread» so darn, I guess we’ll have to come back…

This place is too hip for its own good. Taking itself a little too seriously with the whole«QUAFF» & «MASTICATE» thing. In typical hipster/yuppie/techbro form, most of the beers on tap were IPA& Porters. Would have liked to have seen a few more blondes or wheat beers. The vodka offerings were also too local and crafty, I would have been happy with at least seeing Tito’s or Belve on the menu. The vodka I ordered was super strong. I had just a few sips, which is unlike me. I am just so unhip these days. Dayyyyum!
