If you’re looking for a place to learn Tai Chi in a friendly, non-intimidating environment, look no further. Louise is very friendly and welcoming and her classes cater to a wide range of skill levels and ages. The classes are small, ranging anywhere from 2 – 4 and 8 – 12, but you’ll always get individual attention. Newcomers learn an open-form consisting of 13 movements and then slowly build up to the standard 24-form movement that’s taught almost everywhere. She teaches each form in bite-sized chunks, mastering the basics, continually refining and polishing, then encouraging personal interpretation — similar to how we first learn writing in block print, then proceed to cursive handwriting, and finally forming our own personal signatures. Classes are 1 hour long and include warm-up and cool-down Qi Gong stretching, movement, and breathing exercises. The slow and precise movements are very deceptive, because time flies every single time! Whether you’re just curious(guests are welcome to try a class), always been interested in trying one out, someone who has forgotten a move or two, or a long time practitioner looking to hone and polish their form, you won’t find a more relaxing and welcoming place to learn, practice, and enjoy Tai Chi.

As I moved further into my 60’s, I was concerned about my balance and was looking for something that might help. The Tai Chi class at Movement Fantasque has been exactly what I needed. The classes are small with lots of individual attention. The slow movements are deceptively simple as I leave feeling my muscles had a workout. Louise is a dedicated instructor, patient and positive in her corrections, and I am finding that I am gaining muscle tone as well as increased balance and stamina. I would recommend Louise to anyone looking to try Tai Chi. Louise delivers with a class that increases energy and calms the nerves in a very positive atmosphere.
